I played OPF 1 alot. What I loved in this game was AI. Hit and run fighting. When I got RLauncher hit a tank then took cover, AI couldn't find my location. Same was with sniping and shooting from bushes. In ARMA 1 even on easy skill AI knew exactly where I was. That was stupid in my opinion. In Arma I shot down convoy and took cover in bushes in ditch. Latter coming BMP just run there and shot me I mean FTW. Question is: which game will be more like OPF1? Arma2 or OPF: Dragon Rising?
@TriggerWojtas ArmA2. Believe me OFP:DR is nowhere near good old OFP. I know your feeling. I remember hiding in the bushes from soviet troops on 3 meters from there and they couldn't find me. ArmA1 sucks at this point. But in ArmA2 AI is much improved. You definately should try it. If you are afraid of wasting your money you can download ArmA2 Free. It has shitty graphics but is a full game. Not a demo.

I couldn't find AI reaction about player cover behind object thing. Often ended dead shot by tank when was prone behind little building.
@TriggerWojtas No free version has very bad textures. ArmA2 demo has normal textures but is not a full version and has many bugs. So I think that ArmA2 should be a good choice for you. And is sure much better than OFP:DR

I mean even shittier than CoD itself.

2 - You are not supposed to be there so any unannounced presence is considered hostile.
3 - You appear smack dab in front of them.
You call it a fail, yet watch it slowly and you'll see every soldier reacting to your presence in such a short amount of time, plus only the soldier closer to you and with unobstructed line of sight has fired at you.
only advantage of ofp2 dragon rising is that it will run on very low end machines, while you will need 3ghz quad cores and 4 gigs of ram to play arma2 and OA
BI really needs to get out there and market, its sad how many people buy this shitty game. Codemasters should at least change it to just Dragon Rising.. not OFP: Dragon Rising. Their modern day games don't even stack up to the original version that was released in 2000, and yet hundreds of thousands dont even know the story of how they just stole the name, tried to emulate a good game using their crappy but sadly best engine, a motorcycle racing engine, and tried to make it into an FPS.
"Popular" might make it sound worse than it is. It is not at all bending to the players wishes for action or anything, the PR Dev's design the mod in a way they want, which means realism and especially teamwork.
If he played it and judges it as "fail" due to personal experience, so be it, maybe it wasn't his kind of game. But if he didn't - and I might as well direct that to you, PELIECHO419, you might want to try it if you like ArmA, it's for the same kind of players I think.
Just to clarify, Project Reality is a BF2 modification that is now being made on ArmAII as well as having a Project Reality 2 stand alone version in the works... there is no Project Reality 3. What the Marines use is a version of VBS Virtual Battle Space which is a heavily modified/different version of the ArmA series tuned for military needs.

I don't know how you managed to get the AI acting so dumb. I have this game (PC) , and play it in co-op modes on a lan...its a very cool game, and theres no way I can get away with acting like that in a mission without dieing VERY fast.

You realize that BI is one of the only companies to encourage modding of their game? It's actually a process between the developers and the players to make the game better, which it is. AI have limitations when you have hundreds of miles of land combined with guns and vehicles. Yeah, too bad in OFP the free roam has 3 AI and some piss poor vehicles to mope around the map in.

Ofp2 AI make the fire fights last longer which is more fun. Arma2 AI never miss which can be very boring because I want to have fun taking fire running to the evac point not just oh I got hit and now I am dead now let's start all over again after playing ofp and arma for a long time. I like to use HD weapons from BAS when I play coop missions
modern warfare 2 isn't really that bad as long as you can accept that it's an arcade-type game. i like it. i also like arma 2 a lot. mw2 is good for it's action and multiplayer. arma 2 is fun because of the realism and wide variety of things you can do in it. trying compare/contrast the two games is almost comical.

"Popular" might make it sound worse than it is. It is not at all bending to the players wishes for action or anything, the PR Dev's design the mod in a way they want, which means realism and especially teamwork.
If he played it and judges it as "fail" due to personal experience, so be it, maybe it wasn't his kind of game. But if he didn't - and I might as well direct that to you, PELIECHO419, you might want to try it if you like ArmA, it's for the same kind of players I think.

Just to clarify, Project Reality is a BF2 modification that is now being made on ArmAII as well as having a Project Reality 2 stand alone version in the works... there is no Project Reality 3. What the Marines use is a version of VBS Virtual Battle Space which is a heavily modified/different version of the ArmA series tuned for military needs.

Buy ArmA 2 if you are looking for a realistic game. Dragon Rising tried to mix ArmA and Modern Warfare, which just doesn't work.

I don't know how you managed to get the AI acting so dumb. I have this game (PC) , and play it in co-op modes on a lan...its a very cool game, and theres no way I can get away with acting like that in a mission without dieing VERY fast.

no actually i have played both with patches and i personally believe ofp2 is a better game for 3 reasons
1 i like the guns and the squad bit of it better
2) it has better sounds and feel to it
3) its not got a thousand and 1 glitches in it i couldnt complete the story because it had shitty voice acting and the amount of glitches so dont assume that just because i dont think arma 2 is a good game means i havent played it because i have played both and i just giving my opion that is all

So you didn't play all the way through Arma because it didn't have male models as voice actors? Seriously, it's a military simulator. OFP isn't even categorized as that, only by Codemasters so they can make themselves feel good. You're pretty much saying that Call of Duty is better because the sounds and graphics are better. You can't say one game has the advantage over the other when it's in a totally different category and looks pretty.

No, you didn't mention CoD, but your implying the exact same thing. You're pretty much saying that OFP is better because it looks and sounds good. You realize that BI is one of the only companies to encourage modding of their game? It's actually a process between the developers and the players to make the game better, which it is. It actually functions about 3x better than expected, the game as it stands is fantastic thanks to DEDICATED people, unlike most, which includes you.

I'm actually not a "fan boy" because Operation Flashpoint is technically a BI game, Codemasters fucked it up, it's two sides of the same coin and your giving it hell. I'm not going to try and make you like Arma, I'm trying to tell you that your a fucking moron. Theres a reason Arma isn't on consoles, it's 5x the size of OFP, and you expect it to have zero glitches? At least the AI's can shoot worth a fuck. The current patched Arma II runs pretty damn good, so your opinion is bullshit.

Well what can I say? I haven't had those problems, maybe on the editor you're making them do all this complicated shit. AI have limitations when you have hundreds of miles of land combined with guns and vehicles. Yeah, too bad in OFP the free roam has 3 AI and some piss poor vehicles to mope around the map in.

You'd rather have a boring time with 4 total people on the map with nothing to do but shoot gas tanks and drops limited artillery than have over 1500 AI on the battlefield ripping the shit out of eachother? well i play the game on pc 1500 ai with a super computer or 60 vs 60 no powerful computer needed yeah i can see which one i would pick.... though the game may not be as powerfull as arma 2 but it feels better and has better controls and a better map editor so think wat u like about u not being a fan boy but if u think about it u will find u are one and a fucking bum boy at that

Ofp2 AI make the fire fights last longer which is more fun. Arma2 AI never miss which can be very boring because I want to have fun taking fire running to the evac point not just oh I got hit and now I am dead now let's start all over again after playing ofp and arma for a long time. I like to use HD weapons from BAS when I play coop missions

modern warfare 2 isn't really that bad as long as you can accept that it's an arcade-type game. i like it. i also like arma 2 a lot. mw2 is good for it's action and multiplayer. arma 2 is fun because of the realism and wide variety of things you can do in it. trying compare/contrast the two games is almost comical.
