  • The critique has so many holes in it, I don't know where to start. This individual was using the cap and trade video to champion his own beliefs about big versus small government, i.e. Dem vs the GOP, regulation versus free markets. The last segment iparticularly awful, as anyone who thinks the slight temp change of the planet OVERALL as an average is any indication of global warming one way or the other is simply uneducated. Look at the melting polar ice caps and try to refute global warming.

  • @CarnegieFelon wow that was quite a mouth full, but I suppose you are used to that sort av "thing", aren't you?

  • the warming trend is upward, yet you chose to ignore that - and we can't just keep the 'business as usual' strategy, not just because it's doing harm to our planet, but also because its running out

  • OMG this critic video was completely mis-informed. Just because the oil companies, lobbyist, and fox news are agreeing and promoting your argument, it doesn't make it right.

  • END the EPA.

  • wouldn't it be interesting to make a critique of a critique

  • You lost me at CNN and FOX.

  • Dude you are clearly an uninformed troll, with no sense of personality. The facts stated for wood is just an amount yet no less informative. You are clearly missing the point of the videos, its to inform and spread. All it takes is for people to be thinking about these real people. You probably the kind of person who argues to argues and proposes no solutions... That's being a d0#ch3

  • can you critique the story of bottled water?

  • I'm surprised that HowTheWorldWorks didn't include the fact that the Clean Air Act was never meant to apply to carbon dioxide anyway because carbon dioxide is not a pollutant. The air needs it so that it can sustain plants. There's a whole carbon dioxide cycle in which it moves around from the ground to the atmosphere and back again.

  • @bigravensfan21 No way someone else actually knows what theyre talking about. Wator vapor is the biggest greenhouse gas but people wouldnt take that seriously so they use CO2

  • @thepolice911copeland I thought methane was the biggest greenhouse gas. Has that been retracted?

  • @bigravensfan21 But taxing CARBON would include co2 would it not?

  • @darkma1ice I only talked of the Clean Air Act in regards to legislation. Carbon taxes are not part of the Clean Air Act.

  • It's not rocket science, let's all not consume as much stuff for a while, who will it harm? If global warming is a load of BS then we hav'nt lost anything just saved ouselves a bit of money. If global warming does exist then it will help, it's as simple as that.

  • Wow, this video had me until it said wealth redistribution was socialism. Ha, what a crock. And then he went on to say that he knows more about science and climate change than scientists part of the academy of science. Then he criticizes passing laws to regulate it calling it 'big government'. Excuse me, laws are not 'big government'.

Please go take your brilliance to the scientific community and win yourself a nobel prize! Or maybe stop thinking you're right all the time.

  • CO2 is not pollution.. it's plant food.. burn clean, I agree.. but burn baby burn.. Vegetation needs less water for photosynthesis as vegetation has more and more CO2 to use..

btw Climategate 2.0 just happened.. Man made global warming is a scam and the prime players behind "the cause" knew it all along..

Yes the climate changes..and we are due for a Glacial Age..Earth is normally covered in kilometer think ice..we are in an interglacial age that doesn't last anywhere as long as a Glacial age

  • The reason the forests are increasing is because of the rise in CO2 plant food...

that and too much prevention of forest fires.. natural healthy forest fires.. yes they are natural and healthy.. we end up getting SUPER forest fires because we prevent the healthy fires from keeping over growth in check.. not to mention the fires tend to cull tree killing insects..

  • When the islands go underwater, and new islands emerge from? Who's going to pay the transport for the people that lives there? Your mother?

  • Freedom = Prosperity? Now that you're country is broke, you're in a dictatorship?

  • When I took classes of "How to make a video on a subject which I know nothing, but anyway I want to discuss", they showed this video...

  • Video is bullshit. Anyway oil is limited. All fossils are.

  • @cezarygerardinho

are you sure oil is fossil based? look up Abiogenic petroleum origin.. and even if they are fossil fuels, burning it helps us get the earth back to the vegetative state that produced greater life abundance and probably kept us warm enough to mitigate the Glacial Ages.. cold is bad for life

  • Good video - you agree on the C&T problems but point out errors in her solutions. But uf - your global warming conclusions are bad. "a couple of tenths of a degree"- by your own graph, it's ~7/10ths... and talking about statistical significance between two recent years of your choice is called "cherry-picking" (I'm a statistician by profession)... what you want is a Time x Temp correlation statistic for all reliable years (for 1850 or 1900 until now). I can tell by eye that it's v significant.

  • I love the "Sharing = Communism" bit! What better way to Keep people selfish and greedy consumers! With the same logic a dictator can say "Freedom & Democracy = War" to keep his subjects from wanting change for the better!

  • What a sack of shit. You want no government regulation? Then you must want another bank bailout. No regulation in that industry led to the fucking recession we're in right now. The government should stay out of most of the dealings in our economy, but no regulation at all is no better than communism.

  • van jones? who the fuck is van jones?

  • sorry i can watch this as a critique as you buddy are a parte of the system... and aperar in fox news thw worst liar in the history of the humanity... sorry thats not a critique... it's an attack...

  • Rather bad critique... Not clear and only attacking stats instead of key concepts... No alternative and blame spread on others... Sorry, not a very good job...

  • You have changed my mind in 8:28 minutes.......

  • 584 people= wealth redistributors. LoL

  • love your amazon ebook, what college did yoh attend?

  • So...whats your solution to cap and trade?

  • I am sorry HTWW that is BS. The US has always had an expanding federal govt that was what the civil war was all about btw. Anyway what you also don't think about is thtat there are countries with limited gov't. there are social democracies, and there are neoliberal economies. Anyway mismanagement is what keeps countries poor. Western countries had 200 yrs of industrialization to get to the wealth we have today. this is purely economics not bullshit ideology.

  • sooo.... if I say I plan to have 20 children, but instead only have one, how much cash can I get?

  • This critique was very poorly done. Many of the claims of the original video were either taken out of context or purposely misinterpreted in order to allow for irrelevant political arguments to be made. Also, continually the arguments made were aimed at criticizing Annie Leonard personally, rather than her claims. To top it off, the video completely loses credibility at the end because investigations of Climategate found no evidence of fraud or scientific misconduct.

  • @CarnegieFelon that actually sounds pretty fair

  • @CarnegieFelon You do not seem to know what it means to criticize someone personally. I saw maybe one criticism that could have been personal. But all the others were not.

  • @bigravensfan21 True. I guess what I was referring to at the time was Mr. Doren calling Ms. Leonard an environmental extremist, which is not an argument against her position, but a tactic used to discredit her position regardless of its merit. I also disliked how he decried one of her suggestions by calling it socialism. Many people will categorically reject an idea simply because it can be considered socialism, rather than rationally debating it, and I perceive his use to be just that.

  • @pousselucho do you even know what americans have done to help you? Get off our internet.

  • Don't you know major media only show news that benefit them and their best friends the corporations and banks?

  • Just because he couldn't make a name for himself, he uses her name and in a clever SEO stunt adds the word "critique" to her title. Of course he does it for money as he's been hired by the libertarian think tank Competitive Enterprise Institute to do so. He even tried to add a "Critisism" section in the Wikipedia article with partial success. What a failure of a man! But of course, you don't need much to realise that, you just need to watch him talking.

  • @alsimify You did nothing but insult him, and failed to actually attack what was needing to be attacked, his video. You don't even have an arguement. THAT is sad. If you have a problem and calling him an idiot by "just watching him talk" then call out specifically what he did or said that was idiotic or wrong. Otherwise, go on making yourself look like a fool.

  • Stupid Americans... Just said: Relax. Is like keep consuming stupid people from America, Other countries pay it..

    Americans: The plague...

  • @pousselucho Thanks for picking up the tab buddy! What country do you live in so I know where to send my garbage.

  • Sorry hippies, but MAN MADE GLOBAL WARMING/CLIMATE CHANGE DOES NOT EXIST. AT ALL. How many times do us rational people have to tell you this fact?

  • At 5:16 the idiot woman's video should slowly start tinting red.

  • Kuods to this video for pointing out the economic inefficiency created by ethanol subsidies. Those subsidies wreak havoc on food prices and waste valuable arable land which could be spent growing food which people demand. However, I take issue with the way he demonizes the word "socialism". I find it so ignorant the way people fear the word yet America has been a socialist country for decades. The postal service, libraries and social security are all socialist. It can be useful and has been.

  • I wouldn't say that "Freedom=Prosperity." We've used and abused our way to the top.

  • When you're fighting for what is right the goal is victory. But you're getting your butt kicked. Sometimes you need to fight dirty.

My state has had record high temperatures and heat related deaths. Desperate times call for desperate measures. And the last time I check telling the truth about what is a reality wasn't a sin.

  • they showed us this in speech class 2 years ago

  • Did you just say that the cold war was one of the HUGE human crisis... OMG you're really really stupid.

  • @biposgs During the cold war years, the entire planet was at the whim of two of the world's most powerful and dangerous countries. If even the slightest mistake had been made by either government we could have suffered a nuclear holocaust the like of which no post apocalyptic action movie could even come close being. Yeah, the cold war was a pretty HUGE deal.

  • So do you substantiate claims with evidence ever? You sound like a corporate shill and fact checking your claims is difficult because everything you say is so very nebulous.

  • I would say that this counter critique comes from the corporations which don't want that their super capitalistic method of making money and not caring about anything else could be anywhere than threatened with Annies Leonard's videos. And this video isn't even productive, just trying to put down the knowledge of Annie. It is very clear to me that this comes from the SYSTEM.

  • how much money did you get from the oil lobby...??? or maybe you are just so uneducated... before exposing you critics... please take a look at scientific literature.. then you will know what socialism really is, where the data of 350 comes from, and the real consecuences of climate change.........

  • Would you please make a video that combines the logic of Annie Leonard with your own logic, and makes a synthesis which leads toward solutions! The planet is desperately in need of collaboration, not opposition.

  • You are pointless and incredibly stupid to resolve all this video by saying global warming is a natural proccess. Even if it is, Are Fossil Fuels and Natural resources endless? Is there a secret place to safely dispose all our garbage forever? This world needs a change, it's easy to see. If you're biggest contribution to the problem is "don't freak out, we're doing ok" you might as well keep your mouth shut next time.

  • Since when is Al Gore making billions due to carbon trades?

    Nonsense!

Why has a US American twice the carbon footprint than a European?

Maybe because too many still believe hoaxes like this video...

  • Even if somebody gives a big critique against her video, she still does a good job. Mathmatics would proof somehow that the theorie is true what she say. I do see, understand that americans have another view of the situation, but if we check for example some (not all) european countries they have delevoped better technology, forced companies to use it sustainability, guess what (maybe they do not make so much money like the US companies) but they still are wealthy companies, so why does it work?

  • In danish we call this : FLUE KNEPPERI!!

  • @funmach64

"Improving the world" is a relative term. Conservatives believe they're trying to improve the world; isn't that admirable? It's not the intentions always, no matter how noble, that make them valid by default.

The reason why America became one of the most prosperous nations in the world is precisely because we were free and capitalistic. Powerful central government was the antithesis to what the founders believed in (with the exception of Hamilton maybe).

  • @funmach64

Then what did? US had almost no regulations, low taxes, no unions, no social security for the majority of its history and yet through XIX, XX century it experienced most rapid growth of all countries, payed the highest wages, and produced the best quality, low price products. So even if its not the whole story it is likely it played a role.

  • @funmach64

Shes trying to improve the world by citing unreliable sources, manipulating their meaning, or saying something is toxic (other video) because it contains lead research showed that it did occur naturally in air and soil and that's the only reason why it was on that product.

Shes trying to scare people about things that does not exist, and it looks like she do only wants to sale here books, but its admirable to you. And Doren did ask here to debate him.

  • @funmach64 At what cost will she improve the world? Just because a goal is a good one doesn't mean that the ends justify the means.

  • are you dumb or what? you are saying that because you are not feeling the consequences, in colombia we are suffering the worst natural catastrophe in the history of colombia¡¡¡ that`s not normal¡¡¡ and that`s all your country`s fault. how do think the WWI or the WWII are remotely similar? please see beyond the united states ¡¡¡¡

  • Annie Leonard has made many factually incorrect statements which reflect her environmentalist views and with respect to her other videos she could learn a lot from your critique. However, if Lee Doren seriously believes that poverty in developing nations is simply the result of Statist policies, as well as other claims showing a dubious understanding of climate change, then he is more deluded than he claims Annie is.

  • @darkbluejez

"...if Lee Doren seriously believes that poverty in developing nations is simply the result of Statist policies..."

How stupid of Lee to believe what actual economists say. I mean, what would economists know about economic development?

  • So how can cleaner and more efficient energies have a chance on the market while the government is subsidizing oil? If we simply remove oil subsidies, gas prices will skyrocket, and our economy take a major hit. There IS a market for so-called "green" energies, but how do we fix the situation?

  • Did enjoy the critique, however i think that 'paying your ecological debt' should not be dismissed so quickly. It is simply untrue that all 'market liberal' countries are rich, and all state-led nations are poor; China is just one example of a massively wealthy nation with a Communist heritage. I recommend you read Chang's 'Kicking Away the Ladder' for real development theories- you'll soon realise that many countries are poor BECAUSE we are rich. We do, in fact owe them a great debt.

  • scientists are all a bunch of lying socialists! From now on, i say we boycott all scientific discoveries to let them know we are sick of living their lies!

  • The Plague?!

  • CARBON IS A POLLUTANT!!!!!!! Does everyone realize how mind numbingly stupid that is? All life on planet Earth is based on carbon. If carbon is pollutant, then all life on planet Earth is pollution. I see how we get movies like the hideously dull, nihilistic (literally) remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still. This is why the EPA should be done away with. It is so stupid it is dangerous.

  • @VictorLepanto great comment.

  • @0HippyHunter0: I think you might dislike my views on one point. I disagree w/ the producer of this response video on subsidising the oil companies. We NEED to do this. I want to do this for national security reasons. Most terrorism in this world is (so-to-speak) fueled by oil money in the Middle East. If we subsidise oil exploration & production in this country, it will crash world oil prices, denying money to the oil economies in those places. Thus denying money to the terrorists.

  • @VictorLepanto Kinda. We are still buying trillions in oil from them. The subsidy only artificially lowers prices here, they still get the exact same price. What we really need to do is focus on a domestic fuel (not necessarily a farm grown fuel) that can power our cars. Natural gas is the only option that is viable at the moment. If we can stop sending trillions to the Middle East they will eat each other.

  • @0HippyHunter0: No, our subsidizing oil exploration (that is specifically what I am talking about) will affect global prices. That is what OPEC is all about. Limiting production to inflate prices. If we counter these measures, it will force prices back down. This must mean less income for any oil dependent economy. This IS what destroyed the Soviet Union. They were even more oil dependent then Saudi Arabia. You're talking long term measures. I'm talking about denying $ to the terrortists NOW!

  • the critique is really bad and unconvincing.

  • @mysegments

Yes it is. What is most amazing is the energy some cretins spend in making this so-called 'critique' up. Poor earth is being destroyed in the hands of corporations while they try to destroy a few facts for lack of accuracy as if this is going to make earth a better place to live on. In the name of what truth? Their small (but accurate) world is crumbling under their feet but they still hold on to their factual chimera.

  • straight propaganda

"where do we get the money for subsidies? "

The same place we get all the subsidies that go to oil companies!!

    were you even paying attention?

  • I think the solution should be obvious. Vote with your wallet. That's how you control corporations! If enough people decided to spend money on those who are helping out humanity instead of exploiting it, it becomes self-correcting. I'm freakin' tired of hearing about solutions calling for gov't intervention spending money they don't have.

My example? I screw the high price of gas by bicycling for every darn local trip I need to make!

  • I have a question: How can you put your comments between the video clips. Sorry my school is making me review Cap and Trade and I'm not educated in technology...

  • @mycarnage2000

Simply cut the clip into thirds, mute what you want, and add audio or text over it to critique what you want.

  • @HowTheWorldWorks

Aand from where did you acquire the foot notes from story of stuff,, etc. Is that on her website?

  • @HowTheWorldWorks

    Cut the clip how?

  • Is new islands coming to emerge from the water with houses, pelople and a whole nation? ohhhh Come on stupid american!

  • @Lucasvilella2 Stupid American? WTF country are you from? Maybe you're from the land where there are no stupid people? Or maybe you come from a place where debate isn't open and you call everyone who doesn't agree with you "stupid." That seem more likely. Open your mind, stop being ignorant, then some day you'll be as great as America. Or starve. I don't care.

  • Comment removed

  • @nanoubix Like I said, I don't care. Starve. Stay ignorant and starve.

  • @0HippyHunter0

Ignorance is not bliss in your case. I hope you're just a troll. Earth would be a better place without you or them.

  • @nanoubix I'm sure it would. In fact, if you really wanted to save the world you'd come try to kill me. Then the Earth wouldn't have to worry about you polluting it for the next few decades; and I would get to shoot you in the face for being an ignorant fascist fuck.

  • @0HippyHunter0 @0HippyHunter0

Sorry dear, yeah I'm defenitly not a person from United Stated. If you mind knowing, I live in Bournemouth, if don't know it's in UK, yeah, you might not know it, but I'm from France, my mother is french and my father is brazilian. We sure have stupid people, lots of them around. I came from a land where debate has logical sense and it doesn't go against any reseonble idea which it is just tring to open people's mind about. Sure you dont care. just go shopping!

  • @Lucasvilella2 Just go shopping? That isn't very open minded, is it? Its using a stereotype to justify an ignorant thought. Isn't it? So, all debate in your country is logical and reasonable. Lets open the ol' history book, here. Oh, look at that, it was "logical" and "reasonable" to accomadate and placate Germany in the 1930's when you obviously should have taken action; 30/mil people later... This video isnt opening minds, its mostly lies and misrepresentations. Fighting this is "logical."

  • @0HippyHunter0

Oh Come on, I am not open minded? So do You? Really? Help me please.

Because If I dont have the right to desagree with what you have been

saying and all about the life way that American people have leading the

world by shopping unreasonably and how they want to distract the facts just with enconimics excuses, so I'm so sorry my friend.

  • @Lucasvilella2 Nobody ever said you don't have a right to disagree. In fact, those words are no where to be found, period. Typical. Americans are the only ones out shopping? When your people do it they are only buying bare necessities, only that which is absolutely needed an nothing else. American are the only ones who "overconsume," nobody else. Just us. Economic excuses, this guy is disproving her with her own facts; economic or otherwise.

  • @0HippyHunter0

Americans are not the only ones who overbuy, but they are the ones who the most do it and they DON'T care, That's a fact and stop going against it, you know that. I've been twice in USA and I saw new things being wasted, bias and carelessness. I not saying about you, I'm just generalizing the fact.

yeah disaproving her facts by saying that new islands will desappear and other would emerge as a positive point? And please don't be silly about it, this is serious issue.

  • @Lucasvilella2 Americans do it the "most"? Interesting. How do you plan on proving that? We don't care? Guess who makes the most renewable energy, who recycles the most, whose filmmarker make all these movies about "overconsumption" and "the green movement"? Guess. Well, that'll be the US. It IS NOT a fact. You've been here twice, now you're an expert? Americans are constantly striving to make more efficient products, and make life more efficient, and you respond with "no their not." Good one.

  • @0HippyHunter0

I surely don't plan prove anything, every one knows, now tell me USA dont use more than 30% of earth's sources and externalization of the custs are good for the enviroment. You're really retardard, arent ya ? I didnt ever said that whole country is in overconsumption, its just the ordinary people, comum sense who dont care, they were influenced by the goverment, corporations and culture and they just dont realize how is living this way. Im glad there's people trying to change

  • @Lucasvilella2 Ok, I will. The US doesn't use 30% of Earths resources. That was easy, and readily provable. Retard? Try to prove your point, if you can. You did say, "American people have leading the world by shopping unreasonably." Which is unqualified in any way. That means all Americans "overconsume" (wtf that is). I have no clue how you see into all their minds to make the determination that they don't care. They not little robots, no more than you are. You have stated nothing, again.

  • @0HippyHunter0

whatever. I'm not gonna prove anything. The world is right here and everybody does the judgement which fits better to themselves.

  • @0HippyHunter0 whatever, I'm not gonna prove anything. The world is right here and everybody does the judgement which fits better to them selves.

  • @Lucasvilella2 So, you admit these weren't "facts" just your opinion? I already knew this, but I would like other folks to get a little perspective.

  • @0HippyHunter0 Yeah, ok you knew, you know the truth, you are right and just to be get more sure why don't you do some research about your country, about people's opinion, try getting some trip to another culure to realise yourself and then you can feel what kind of facts fits in your mind, in your character my friend. You know that USA is not that kind of good boy, not even close.

  • @Lucasvilella2 Not that kind of "good boy"? Is that some kind of term only used by world-experts in US culture? Lets talk about your society? People don't have ipods? or Tv's or microwaves? No? Yeah right. When you're society is perfect, and without blame, you come to my house, until then you are just ignoring your problems and blaming everything on the US.

  • @0HippyHunter0 You never ever get the ideia, do you? I didn't say USA was the worst one and I NEVER EVER said my society is perfect, it's just that USA is not THAT KIND of ideal way to follow environmentally - LOOK, I'm not saying my country is a model, it's just that many countries are trying to change, and they are sort of reaching it. We sure have iPod in France, UK , in everywhere, as much as you have other culture's things.

  • @Lucasvilella2 "American people have leading the world by shopping unreasonably" Yes you did. So, now that we've stablishd that you have no room to talk, why don't you come criticize the US once you have fixed your country. Ok? Once you're perfect, then you can criticize, not before.

  • @0HippyHunter0 Its very good, I like it. The presidint is Smart and he says,"Under my plan of cap and trade energy prices will necessisarily skyrocket". So now its good that gas is $5 now and $8 very soon so no more smog and China completed the 45 coal electric plants in under 4 months, 900 to go. Is all good, we dont need energy its pollution anyways and besides just import everything and stop the dirty factories so everybody is only service jobs, minimum wages go to $35 or more. SocialJustice!

  • @YosupMofo are you stalking me, or what?

  • @0HippyHunter0 You a smart creature huh cupcake.

  • @0HippyHunter0 ok! whatever. you won't be staid, will you? You always change the situation. I did NOT said my country is perfect, even so that I don't have a "country", I dont consider me being part one nation, since I live in England, my mon is french e my father is from Brazil, none of those countries are not even close of being a model. it was nice talking to you.

  • @0HippyHunter0 @0HippyHunter0

Oh Come on, I am not open minded? So do You? Really? Help me please.

Because If I dont have the right to desagree with what you have been

saying and all about the life way that American people have leading the

world by shopping unreasonably and how they want to distract the facts just with enconimics excuses, so I'm so sorry my friend.

  • haha. My goodness. Patriotism, a way of enslaving people. I agree with this video, the critique is right. But it does not make what these corporations are doing ok. And you are being lied to, all the time, they just use words like terrorism, American Dream, and bullshit things like that to lie to you and get you to do what they want. Open YOUR mind.

  • @twobenz22 The point is: what Leonard says these 'evil corporations' are doing, is wrong. She's making it up so people will be outraged and she gets the power/money. Its a scam. My mind is wide open, I check the facts and find truth where it can be found. There is little evidence to show Leonard correct corporation 'evil'. Its all a song and dance to get people worked up.

  • @0HippyHunter0

what? gaming the system to their advantage so they never truly have to clean up their act? This is exactly what corporations do. Have you ever heard of Green Washing? It is when a company claims to be very very green and about not polluting the local environment, but only in their home country. They will pollute, and destroy environments in other countries in the developing world.

  • @lordblazer Have you ever heard of Brainwashing? Its where people lie to others, and themselves, so they can believe as they were instructed. It is the manifestation of mental laziness and loneliness.

  • @0HippyHunter0

but whatI just stated about green washing is completely true. How is that brainwashing? This is actually quite a big issue where I lived in Japan where Japanese companies made great claims that they weren't doing any damage to the environment, of course in Japan. these same companies in Indonesia for example didn't care about the local environment there. ppl actually study environmental law, human ecology, these are legitimate fields. So who is being lazy here?

  • The fact that fox news agrees with him immediatly sets off the bullshit alert... I dunno why big government is worse than big business since big business runs your government anyway. What a load of shit!

  • @crimsonchief So, Fox News isn't to be believed simply because it doesn't toe the liberal line? Makes sense. Seems wildly open minded and tolerant.

  • @0HippyHunter0 No fox news isn't to be believed because of the ridiculas lies it tells on a daily basis. Lies that are so abhorant and transparent that most of the world think they are funny. WE ARE LAUGHING AT YOU!

  • @crimsonchief Which lie, that is so obvious to you, did they tell today? Give me a link. Lets have it. You can't and won't provide one. Keep laughing. Fox has been repeatedly PROVEN to be less biased than network news.(check George Masons Center for Media in Public Affairs). Its exactly what I thought, liberals cant stand free speech if that free speech doesn't agree with them. They call this "open mindedness and tolerance" the rest of the world calls it ignorance and hate.

  • Wait, did he just brag about being on FOX news?

  • @links212 yes

  • What an idiot! I can't believe people actually listen to this fluff! Isn't a critique suppose to offer advice, solutions? All I heard is how some of her statistics could be skewed in the other direction, buy then he comes out and says he completely agrees with the problem, but that its not that big of a deal, so we should just do nothing... wow!

  • @stevebic83 a critique is a criticism

  • @Consrvatev wow thank you for that 'defining' moment! I would have assumed that someone of your mental caliber could have come up with something that had a little more meat to it, but I guess you must be just as stupid as the creator of this video... BTW, and your abhorrent conditioning might not allow your mind to do this, but in an optimal world where the good of the world is encouraged why might someone want to be critiqued or critique something themselves.

  • @stevebic83 sir i was only answering your first question for purposes of clarity "Isn't a critique suppose[d] to offer advice, solutions?" Yes a critique can contain that aspect, but it is more often than not a criticism and this video is a CRITICISM and therefore it does not offer "advice." Your ad hominem is completely uncalled for and does not even help your argument because it is inherently fallacious. So until you learn how to talk to people, fuck off

  • If you take as many ~10-yr trends over the temp record as you can, you'll find a range of cooling and warming trends despite the long-term warming trend evident. Decadal variability is largely a response from mechanisms such as El Nino which oscillate over decadal scales. The high temp in 98 is due to a really strong El Nino event so a trend over this period will mostly represent this and not long-term influences like CO2.

  • @tokenindiekid - Thank you for bringing common sense to the conversation.

Also, ice core data shows that the relation between CO2 levels and global temperatures is one not expected by many. Global temperatures drive a spike in CO2 levels, and not the other way around. Global temperatures are shown to have decreased approximately 200 years before CO2 levels. This trend totally destroys the thought that CO2 levels are responsible for rises in global temperatures.

  • Big Government may not be the solution but Big Business is worse as it is based on profit and profit alone. Making a profit is great, but not when they only people who make that profit already have so much money and the people who they take it from do not even have a fraction of what the takers do.

  • hay more co2 the better planets grow bigger more oxegen and we get more energetic. so better life we get. did you know the goverment shut down a study that was showing the earth can haddle everything we are doing to it and global warming is a hoax.it also showed that more co2 means healthyer plants.

  • 4:53 the govt wont print money and it dosent need to raise taxes.

what it will do is even worse. it sells bonds to citizens promising them interest that it will never pay back. either the citizens make money at the govt's expense, or the citizens lose their money entirely. over half of the govt's debt is through bonds

  • Teehee. Watch out, the EPA's going to take over your whole LIFE. Rarrrrhhhh!

  • your right but seriously... leave her the fuck alone

  • we were free but now we are being robbed of our freedom by corporations. I don't want the government to run my live but I don't want corporations to rule either!!

  • Trying to figure out which one is the best side to sit under. We need to just figure out what's factual and go from there.

  • You know, my health teacher showed me the cosmetic video and this video at school. After a few days, I started to get curious.

I found this guy's critiques and honestly, instead of fighting over whose right and whose wrong, I think we should just see what's REALLY true and what facts aren't too accurate. At the end of the day, everyone's gonna have their opinion. It's the FACTS that always matter. Not to say no one's opinion matters, its just that there are more important things than(con).

  • can't you see that the world might come to an end? climates are changing rapidly and earthquakes and some other calamities are worsening. nothings permanent.

  • I just wait for the day they want to tax farting....

  • Your "fuck you got mine" attitude kind of shits up your argument.

  • Petition for Lee Doren/Annie Leonard debate: tinyurl 643tb8n

  • Freedom my ass!!! "LoL" USA become the wealthiest country in the world because of slavery and mostly because of World War 2. USA own alot to "adolf hitler" for there wealthy.

  • freedom= prosperity. lol! did u sleep though all of your history classes?!!! I guess the enslaved Africans were free to choose between being enslaved or committing suicide.

Wealth redistribution = socialism?!!! man, is this guy for real??

  • cnn you are stupid fucking stupid! And also play the whole video it is not factual inaccurate it is what will happen

  • What a short sighted author. He thinks you simply "can't" have a green economy. It's simply impossible. That's his opinion, but that's just his short-sighted moronic view. Anything is possible. There is plenty of energy on this planet that is not stored in fossil fuels. We just need to find smart ways to tap it. So what's the authors solution? Do nothing, pray global warming isn't real, and pretend everything is OK. FAIL!!!!!

  • @jorgandar According to ALOT of scientist global warming isn't real. If you actually do some digging then you can make up your mind, don't just take Al Gore for his word.

  • @Vintexen no I'm no big fan of Al and the whole climate change ruse, but give the poor guy a break. After all he did have to serve as VP to Slick Willie, and got a Presidential election stolen by the dumbest candidate ever (and his smart, criminal helpers). Then again I shouldn't say "poor" Al since he is making the $

  • You're answering to general ideas with specific examples or pure affirmations. Yep one more.

  • Dude you're absolutely ridiculous. We got wealthy because we were a "free nation" with a "limited government"??? We got wealthy because we had slave labor, child labor, and underpaid labor building our entire economy, from factories to fields to railroads to importing fruit from nations whose governments we helped to overthrow. Read up on General Smedley Butler, one of the highest ranking generals in the first half of the 20th century on how many invasions of free nations he helped lead. Idiot.

  • @acemma25 Um, and exactly why are all of the African countries that have all that nasty stuff now (i.e. slave labor, child labor, underpaid labor) not filthy rich? Ever hear of Cyrus McCormick? Thomas Edison? John Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, Bill Gates, Thomas Watson Jr., etc. Ever hear of the Berlin Wall? The Iron Curtain? Here's a real hard question: From which side did the Wall prevent people, by murder, from escaping? The free, capitalist side or the worker's paradise?

  • @MoeilijkMoeilijkfuck Wow everyone who attacks him, usually does two things.

    1) Swears alot.

    2) Attacks with no substance.

  • @geebmaster

    And doesn't use spell check.

The only way to get these hippies to proofread their oh-so-snappy-comments would be if congress passed the Spell Check Act of 2011.

  • @MoeilijkMoeilijkfuck I seriously almost busted out laughing when I read this: "you feel like you wanna say something to the people that might be worth listening to?! Then better f@ckin hell make your words worth listning of!" It is so horribly incoherent and ignorant of its own point that its laughable.

  • This critique is RETARDED. It focuses on effects and not the problems that the original video addresses. "flooded by requests"... who cares what you agree with... your critique is off track and you are as indoctrinating as the original.

All Americans are indoctrinated! so fu

  • @BJJistheway I didnt suggest that, I think your trying to straw man here but you didnt set up well. my argument was that the evidence contradicts your hypotheses that tax cuts for high income earners increases job creation. I did not say they cause recessions. I do agree that the 'war on terror' is a farce. but a couple big buildings were hit on 9/11 out of the millions that we have in the USA, that didn't cause the recession, silly.

Community reinvestment act?LOL I love that conspiracy theory

  • @BJJistheway I have talked to economists, I had plenty of them while getting my minor in Economics. also, 'socialism' is a loose term covering several styles of market regulation. so Im not sure what you mean because your not using the word socialism according to its broad definition. furthermore, I lol at the Idea that you at 16 have had time to converse deeply with economists about the intricacies of socio-economic theory.

  • aSheeple... Regan lowered taxes and instituted ACRS which just created artificial demand to grow the economy. Clinton stole his soposed surplus from Social Security and spent it. That is where Clintons economy came from. LBJ just like Regan spent shit loads of money on the military which derives that growth. It is mostly artificial economic growth. Every year actual production.. IE manufacturing.. goes down as a percent of the economy it is replaced by artificial means.

  • @BJJistheway the sources under wikipedias - economy of the usa > unemployment page contain some enlightening data. and good graphs.

  • @BJJistheway also the data I listed previously disproves that argument if Reaganomics caused job creation, we should have continued to see its effects for years. and we dont. in more recent terms, bush cut taxes on the wealthy yet we were in economic recession by the time he left office. in contrast Clinton instituted a significantly higher tax rate and we saw a steady drop in unemployment over his entire 2 terms. the next strongest growth in the us economy was under LBJ's great society program

  • Comment removed

  • @BJJistheway again, thats not a refuation of my argument, and in fact you cant do the same thing with market regulation numbers. as market regulation has not been on the rise. furthermore my choice of sample size is arbitrary and the argument is equally true for 2% although the contrast in the data is not as sharp.

On job creation: those numbers are vacuous, and riddled with problems for example: how do you prove its from reagan, is it a business cycle fluctuation? or something else?

  • @BJJistheway also go to wolfram alpha and overlay chinas gdp and indias gdp and ask yourself how china and india are different. the answer is that china is communist, now if communist country can grow to 4x the size of its neighbor, and what you want is gdp growth, are you suggesting that we should be communist? I hope not. the point is that you need to look at more data because your theory dosnt line up with the facts.

  • @BJJistheway and by not droping together I mean that the unemployment rate is higher now

  • @BJJistheway yes I can. look at the taxes on the top 1% over the last 30 years and what youl see is a massive drop, overlay that with a graph of unemployment and bingo you will see that the two are not doping together. overlay that with a graph of median income and youl see that median real income has fallen over that time period. therefor, lowering taxes on the wealty neither creates jobs or increases the pay of existing jobs (except for the rich that have less taxes)
