boy I bet you feel real dumb now that they announced a metal gear for 360 this year at E3! That is what people get for being fanboys, they get slapped with the old fanboy dildo.
Any fan of the single player series will want to have played through this game at least once. If you've never played the online portions of MGS and that is what your asking about the best advice I could offer is that it is one of the best games on the PS3 for multiplayer action. It's a different hill of beans from COD4 and RSV2 though because it is a third person shooter.
The 80g model will be the only one that has Backwards Compatibility soon so if that is important to you keep that in mind. The 60g and 80g models both have the card readers wheras the 40g model only has USB input slots. As far as space is concerned you can upgrade your HD with a larger one yourself so that shouldn't be a factor in your decision.

I think this game is a masterpiece. I really enjoyed it. I haven't played the MGO yet. It was a pain in the ass trying to set up a Konami ID.
