  • Very Tru about rgv

  • Go to the rio grande valley in south texas( home of the fastest trucks)

  • Where did you get your camms, ive been looking for some but cant find them

  • Does the cam really make that big of a difference in the sound? That's badass

  • i was looking at getting this same cam but comps website says it is only for ls1 and ls6 engines how did you get it to work

  • @chevyboy120 The cams are interchangeable on all Gen III engines.

  • god DAMN I love that sound. I'm a 4.8 owner myself and plan on doin the same thing I can't wait to here it in person.

  • This truck sounds GREAT! wouldnt expect that idle just by seeing that truck parked anywhere! check out my cammed 4.8 if ya got some time!

  • @69CRUZR Thanks. I like the sleeper look lol. I just like to spend money on go fast parts instead of look good ones. Ill check your vid. out.

  • how much for complete install? what kind of milege are you getting?

  • @Carsavata I got a lot of parts free. My cousin and I did the install, it was fairly inexpensive especially since i got a free tune. Mileage didnt change much unless i put my foot in it.

  • how are those thorley headers

  • Yes it was just cam and valvesprings. LSA= lobe seperation angle, the wider seperation (118 lsa) will have less lope and the narrower will have more. The lifters are stock and werent replaced. Since you dont have to pull the heads on LS engines for a cam swap i didnt bother with the lifters. One other thing i will recommend is hardened pushrods. .

  • @caseys00

I sincerely hope that engine was near new....using the old lifters with a new cam is just like using the old cam gears with a new chain or the old sprockets on a motorcycle with a new chain. The cam and lifters wear a pattern into each other and can cause break-in problems if not replaced together.

Just my view on it, other than that, I really like the sound.

  • @RevanCraft It had some miles on it. Wasnt really a worry since I had an ls6 ready to go in. Replacing the lifters insnt really required, there are tons of guys doing it without a problem. If i were to do it on another engine that was going to stay in awhile i would certainly put new lifters tho. Im glad you like the sound, hopefully Ill have a new setup by this feb.

  • @RevanCraft these are roller lifter engines, and arent nearly as critical as the old flat tappet hydraulic lifter set ups. with the older non roller cam/lifter set ups its absolutely critical as each lifter mates to the corresponding cam lobe, but thats not the case with the hardened roller lifters. tons of guys are doing cam swaps at 100K miles and reusing stock lifters without flinching. scary yes, but it can be done, and done without issue! oh and ps, these dont have a break in either!

  • hey so im getting an 01 stepside and it sounds like a v6 sorta and i want it to sound more like urs cuz its got that deep sound what sud i get to get that deepness

  • hey man im thinking about getting me one and its a 4.8 also but it sounds like a v6? ive drove it and checked it out how can i make it sound not like a v6?

  • bad ass truck man!!!! thats the beauty of american trucks chevy or dodge. we can make em sound like that!!!

  • Thanks man. American Muscle all the way! lol

  • @caseys00 thats right. you have 1 amazing truck. love the cam@!

  • cold start on a 112 LSA??

sounds fancy.... post the cam specs since ppl keep asking about it

  • cold start on a 112?? The specs are to the right of the video in the info. box.

  • Sounds good! I have 222/228 cams with 0.540" lift..mine doesn't sound mean at all..just mellow. Those ford modular engines are just so quiet to start with..and even with straight duals and my cams it's still doesn't have that big cam sound! I will be swapping them for comp cams stage 3 (237/244). I want that choppy sound! What's your power at right now? I have a 2800 stall with my cams..and 4.56 gears. The stall for you would be determined by where your tq is.

  • @ashtrey05 those mod. motors have alot going on compared to pushrod stuff. lol, i think those stg 3 cams will give you what you want. Im not too sure where im at power wise, but the 3000, 3200 stall is what most run with my cam. Ill get it on the rollers at HPE and see what it puts down before i swap my cammed ls1 in.

  • sounds great love it where did you get this cam ?

  • Thanks, Its one my cousin had. He works at HPE in houston.

  • I love it! :)

  • thanks, I wasnt sure what the idle was gonna sound like with a 113, but i went for it anyway.

  • Wow man--very nice! That 113 sounds good!
