  • i think i fell in love with an old love of me cald country thnx 2 the song the green green grass of home and his version of that song is my 1 of my favorite versions

  • Just have to wonder if Eddy Arnold slaps the crap out of Porter.

  • Awesome song of Gordon Lightfoot's unreleased list

  • Don Cherry and Porter Wagoner are soul brothers.

    Ken, Toronto, Ont.

  • Even dead, Porter Wagoner still rules the planet.

  • awesome. makes me reminiscing jackie brown.

  • ok - how can there be 34,000 views and no comments about that suit? He makes Don Cherry look low key.

  • I kind of want to be Porter...he's awesome. RIP Wagonmaster

  • ★★★★★ Yes 5 stars for this "Golden Oldie" from the 'baby boomer' generation when this was listened to on the old analog radio. Glad to see this GR8 tune making the rounds now in the digital revolution. Rest In Peace Porter Wagoner~!

  • Here comes the hate. I' m ready. More than one post to tell the story. Eddy Arnold made this song famous. I' ll sue Dolly for 50% of her lifetime earnings..I discovered her. Shame on you Porter. You must think you' re Col Parker. Damn, Elvis died to get away from that crap. Am I the only asshole on the tube to tell it as it was and is? Porter was great. He wasn' t God or perfect. So get real. He was an artist that broke through. 50% Don' t think so. GONG!!!!!!!

  • @starr522 Who. Gives. A. Shit.

  • @eh0214827 Evidently not you.

  • This song has een covered by so many great artists I can't decide who covered it best.

  • That's some fine banjo pickin'

  • Kick ass! There's nothing else you can say.

  • Great song about a horse!

  • I agree, his outfits were works of art! Now all you see are blue jeans with holes in the knees! They should go back to these dazzling clothes!

  • Porter was quite young in this one; I remember his former duo partner Norma Jean; before he grouped with Dolly.

I grew up on Porter; even met him once in Springfield, Mo. at the fair one year.

  • ingenious country music

    awesome!!!

  • This was a time when they dressed like stars rather than looking like they just came in from doing yard work. Had some pride in their appearance.

  • This is the outfit he wears on the 2nd clip they re-used for Lily Allen's "Not Fair" video intro...

  • Ohmigod, his *outfit*. I adore it. It's like if Barny bathed in body glitter and was skinned shortly after.

    I really want that suit.

  • He seems to know the words pretty well!

  • Porter was awesome,,an honest,,lol,, great vid

  • I had this song by Porter on LP once. It was the best rendition I've heard of it. He gets lost in this video...but it's still good.

  • Porter adds his own style to a great song, does a great job too.

  • Love this song. Can't decide which is my favorite version. Death takes talent; youtube, cds, and other forms of entertainment keep our memories alive of the greats.

  • @statlerlover I had forgotten how much a performer porter was.

  • rip porter, you were certainly one of God's gifts to america.
