i think i fell in love with an old love of me cald country thnx 2 the song the green green grass of home and his version of that song is my 1 of my favorite versions
★★★★★ Yes 5 stars for this "Golden Oldie" from the 'baby boomer' generation when this was listened to on the old analog radio. Glad to see this GR8 tune making the rounds now in the digital revolution. Rest In Peace Porter Wagoner~!
Here comes the hate. I' m ready. More than one post to tell the story. Eddy Arnold made this song famous. I' ll sue Dolly for 50% of her lifetime earnings..I discovered her. Shame on you Porter. You must think you' re Col Parker. Damn, Elvis died to get away from that crap. Am I the only asshole on the tube to tell it as it was and is? Porter was great. He wasn' t God or perfect. So get real. He was an artist that broke through. 50% Don' t think so. GONG!!!!!!!
Love this song. Can't decide which is my favorite version. Death takes talent; youtube, cds, and other forms of entertainment keep our memories alive of the greats.

ok - how can there be 34,000 views and no comments about that suit? He makes Don Cherry look low key.

I agree, his outfits were works of art! Now all you see are blue jeans with holes in the knees! They should go back to these dazzling clothes!

Porter was quite young in this one; I remember his former duo partner Norma Jean; before he grouped with Dolly.
I grew up on Porter; even met him once in Springfield, Mo. at the fair one year.

This was a time when they dressed like stars rather than looking like they just came in from doing yard work. Had some pride in their appearance.

This is the outfit he wears on the 2nd clip they re-used for Lily Allen's "Not Fair" video intro...

Ohmigod, his *outfit*. I adore it. It's like if Barny bathed in body glitter and was skinned shortly after.
I really want that suit.

I had this song by Porter on LP once. It was the best rendition I've heard of it. He gets lost in this video...but it's still good.
