Very nice. I've had some questions on how I do this myself. I'll make sure I respond to those questions with your video. Awesome vid and greatly looking forward to seeing many, many more.
@MrIronman1979 Thanks Scott. Yeah I've seen a lot of ppl here asking about it actually. I haven't seen a video on it here so I figured it would be a good first for me to do :)
have you tried to put a twist on the braid after you are done braiding it? You will be happy with the result, my only problem was getting the whole piece evently heated in order to twist. using my gas forge was a good solution. Good to see others using this technique. good video man. oh what i used that braid for was a set of gardening tools, where in the end i did a macrame braid to make the tines for the little rake. the possibilities are endless with this kind of thing.
@twg6669 Yes there are tons of possibilities for this braid. No I haven't tried twisting one. I thought about it but never tried it. There is another variety of this braid that is made by twisting and it looks pretty close to this one. Glad you liked the video
@ArtistBlade1972 i dont know if there is a video on it but a twist that I love is where you get 4 pieces of 1/4 inch round and fold them in two(equally) and twist two to the right and two to the left. once you have your for twists forge weld them together on the ends and it will look like its woven. I think it looks like a wheat pod myself. I have pictures of it on my facebook if you want(and if you are on there) look for me. Alexander Christopher Chavez
@twg6669 Yeah I've seen it before. Another cool twist is to take a piece of stock 24" long fold each end till they meet in the center. Twist each end counter clockwise 4 turns. Fold it in half and forge weld both ends together. Then twist whole piece 2 turns clockwise. They call it a twisted braid. Looks fuckin cool as hell

can you make a knife out of that handle?
daiboomb 3 months ago
@daiboomb Don't see why not. Ya need to braid it out of something like O-1 drill rod though.

Great video! That would make epic Damascus if you used different kinds of steel and you welded it all together.
