You dont happen to know the name of a scriabin prelude that is in 3:4 and has running quavers in the left hand most of the way through? Ive been trying to find the piece for ages but dont know what its called :(
this is so beautiful. i can't stop watching this video. i just decided to play more scriabin. i've never discovered the beauty of his music until now...
Hello LVB1770 (i dont know ur name) I really enjoy what uve done, uve recorded a lot of scriabins preludes and they all are quite good =) i study piano, i just played the Op.11 No.14 and by listening to you i decided im gonna play the No.15 and maybe this one the 10 one for my next exam =).
The voices in this C#m are so beautiful and give the piece a really nice colour =) tks! :D
Hi Chopinco, Thanks for your comments. I was lucky enough to take a piano lesson with Scriabin's Great Grandson and his Grand Father
was Sofroninsky. I hope to go back and study with him when the economy gets better. I haven't started to study #14 yet but I continue to study lots of Scriabin. Search you tube for Sofroninsky Scriabin to hear some really great playing. Thanks again and all the best to you.
thank a lot! i recently had a nice recital where i closed with scriabin's prelude =) unfortunately it wasnt recorded in video =( i felt it was quite nice =) but o well, it wont be the first time, and i hope i can record the other ones i play next time so you can give me your opinion :D U must be so proud to study with his grandson :o congrats
i just learned the prelude OP.11 No.15, now i have to work it some time to let it grow on me and then i will find a way to post a video of me playing them so u watch it! u inspired me to play that prelude! i should of course include the 14th one and maybe a Mazurka im also learning =)! thanks a lot!
I gotta thank u! thanks to u i got even closer to Scriabin than i was, i finally got this video of me playing the prelude i promised (Op.11 No.15) totally inspired from the time i listened to your wonderful video!
I would like to tell u i really enjoyed playing that work and it got me (along with other works) an A+ on my yesterdays exam (its 2:46 am now :P)
I would love you to watch it, and please comment on it =).
sorry the video's address was changed cause it had an audio error so i had to reupload it :P but go to my username and its the last video i uploaded, i also uploaded a Scriabin mazurka i like a lot! Ive played the mazurka better other times, but that version is quite good i believe =)
Thank menancyandsam, easiest would be Prelude op.2#2, Prelude op.16#4, Prelude Op.31#4, Op.11 #22, a little more difficult are Op.11#5, #13, #21. The most difficult thing to me about Scriabin is getting the right voicing and tasteful dynamics with not too little, nor too much but sometimes you need to push it to the edge to make his music come across. Listen to Vladimir Sofroninsky, to me his is the best Scriabin interpreter.
Muchas gracias por obsequiarnos estos fantasticos preludios!!. Si algún día decides incluir los poemes del op. 69 o 71, estoy seguro de que disfrutaré y aplauduiré tu interpretación, como ahora aplaudo tus preludios. Felicidades!!!
abraxas3001, Gracias tanto por sus elogios! He dedicado mucho de mi tiempo a Scriabin y continuaré haciendo tan. Sus poemas están en mi lista delos pedazos a aprender.
Dear Thracozaag, when I first replied to you I did not realize you were the pianist Koji Attwood! I have been following you on you tube even before I joined. You are so gifted! Hey, have you heard Aimi Kobayashi on you tube, if not search her name. I have some of her videos of my site. She is a miracle child. Thanks again for the kind words and all the best to you.
I've really been getting into these preludes recently especially the 1st one. I'm about grade 2 standard piano and have lots of respect for your brilliant performances.I would be happy to be half as good as you,I love your chopin work too.
Thanks so much chad410! I have never been so addicted to any composers music. Scriabin is like a drug to me and I get withdrawals if I don't play his music everyday!
I enjoyed that! Your subscribed to me and I have no videos but I can see why :) You also got me interested in playing scriabin back when you posted the op.11 no.15, Good job !
Thanks terryregnar, I subscribed to your videos because of a comment you made one time that touched me. The fact that you have no videos does not matter. My main goal is to introduce people to Scriabin's music and it seems to be working. Thanks much!
Wow... I love all of these preludes. That c sharp minor is really cool.
For high school Solo and Ensemble this year, I think I'm going to play two op. 22 preludes. G sharp minor will be one (influenced by you). I also might do two of Gershwin's Three Preludes... but I think I'd have a better chance at a superior rating at state level with these preludes.
Hey TehBrettster, I wish I was playing piano like this in high school but back then drumming was my passion. I played in jazz band with a great pianist named Jeff Chimenti who has played with The Dead, Ratdog, Les Claypool, En Vogue and MC Hammer. I am glad I inspired you to play Scriabin. That's a great feeling! All the best to you.
I totally agree with everyone!!!! The way everything was set up(the piano, dark/enigmatic atmosphere and sound quality)! I absolutely enjoyed it!!!! You really put a lot of work into providing a great interpretation in all aspects, especially acoustics! Nicely done my friend^^.
P.S. I also posted MY Chorale in A Minor too and hope you can listen to it^^.
Thank you so much NeoComposer! Everything I do is for the music! My goal is to transport people
to the composer as much as possible. With Scriabin it is all about the atmosphere in a universal way. He was so connected to the universe like Beethoven was. Pure Genius!
i think this is not chopin concerto, rach. concerto#2 or something to be as favourite, but this is a second step, the superb concertos are superb, this is really nice, and i'll have to learn this pieces, because of you :P
which microphone are u using?in other videos i could see that have you have something that i cannot recognize on the left wall, i think to isolated the piano? what is it, im interested on "isolating" mine. the sound can be controled properly with only that? or do u have to do extra work for getting this controled?or..?
davidwe, I am using 2 MXL Condenser Microphones with shock mounts. They are around $70 bucks each. For the walls I use Auralex Studiofoam which cuts down on unwanted reflections, keeps some external noise out and keeps the room at a stable temperature. Also, I just put R19 insulation underneath the house.
Excellent. We know you're working hard, but we need more preludes, Scryabin AND Rachmaninoff. How do you like Chopin Impromptu #2 (F#) Opus 36? Thanks.
Thanks sagalat. It is very hard work recording and posting. Being the performer, producer and engineer
is not an easy task and it sometimes takes it's toll on my sanity and unfortunately takes away my time in learning new music. My other issues are loving too many composers, too much music, combined with a lack of time limits my musical progress but I am thankful
Your recordings of Scriabin Preludes are the best LVB1770! I just love listening to them. I also really like your piano playing itself too. You really bring the right feeling into these Preludes, wich is a pleasure to listen to.
Besides your playing, I also must say that I really like the "atmosphere" you're playing in. A dark room, wich the nice light of two candles standing onto the piano.
Playing by candlelight. The composer-mystic wouldn't have it any other way.
