  • LOL...Oh no! I think I'm making my handles like crappy mugs! :) !!!!

  • Ahah! found it :)

  • thats a lot of water running

  • quote of the day...."noodles aren't handles, they're noodles."

  • Totally agree with you about pulled handles v. extruded. Nicely done!

Also agree with other comments re: running water.

  • No noodles for me! Never heard of the plastic bag handles before. Pulled handles are my preference still out of all the types!

Good video but stop wasting water. Use a bucket of water instead!

  • did you notice that the mug he uses to pull a handle off it says "think green"

  • Nice vid! I dig the examples of different types of handles.

    But..

Gotta say, dude - get yourself a pitcher or something to dip your handle in. Don't just run water down the drain like that.

  • Oh ya its Unedited plate triming

  • Hi, its Aaron (on other video) and I see why you put ''May Not Be Suitable For Some High School Children, lol, I agree Most of the are really inmature, and I left you a comment on your other video (The one with you making a plate with out water I forgot the name)

  • Cool. Every time I pick up a mug, I will think of this video.

  • It's pleasure to watch how clay behave in your hands!

    Thanks for the video!

Apropos handles... I just throw narrow ring of wet clay using some 90° tool for final touch.

  • Thanks for the video. It was most helpful. Appreciate you taking the time to do that!

  • Thanks for the video. I'm having a hard time attaching the handles neatly and securely. Can you do a video that shows that aspect making handles?

  • yep I made a mug video check it out

  • Thanks again for sharing, this video was very much appreciated!! I have been wanting a wall extruder but need to save up (I mostly want it for the hollow tubes they can create). Question: My handle seem to droop, I try letting them dry curved but then the curve isn't correct when I attach...what am I doing wrong?

  • I let my handles set up till i cant leave finger prints. if they are the right thickness and stiff enough they shouldn't slump. I need to do a mug video.

  • I like all your variations, great, wished video was clearer though? Pulling is a real nak, I just can't seem to get most of my students to understand that, but they don't have to either, like college students do.I don't any other kind for most things thrown.

  • great video... and the guy is hot!

  • Once again, an excellent, imformative video. I have the feeling you don't like extruded handles...... Love the comments!

  • No I love them with sauce and meata ballas

  • Thanks, I have soooooo much trouble with handles... Now I can watch it and practice over and over until I get it right!! (I found it in the Yahoo pottery group - Great group)

  • Super

  • What type of board were you rolling on? A cement board or drywall?

  • It was mdf medium density fiber board but anything will work

  • Do you have a sediment-catcher on the drain in that sink?

I have quite a few plastic bags after getting things dry-cleaned. They are great in the workshop.

I have these "loopy" cutting tools which are apparently meant for cutting a handle out of a slab of clay.

Can't you extract then push and pull to personalize?

  • no catcher we try not to let big booger done the drain. I have seen the loopy handle things, they make me angry. yeah you can play with a extruded handle after but the you have a screwed up noodle. I think its best to learn the best way than wasting time and work with a cob.

  • I have one of the loops to make handles. I bought it for a special order of mugs so I could make really good handles. I tried it on a couple and recycled them and pulled the handles. Turns out my pulled handles aren't so bad, and they look a heck of a lot better on the mugs!

  • I cant imagine one of the cut out ahndles looking good , like a slab handle eeek.

  • I'll probably end up using the loopy tools to gouge out things instead. I do like to hand-build stuff also.

I'll work on my handle-pulling. As with everything else, practice makes better.

Can I make a request? Can you show us how to throw some nice mugs? I love mugs, but I just can't seem to throw them right!

    Agh - I need to get a better throwing-clay!

  • best way to make better functional stuff is to use it make one use it see what you like dont like and add and remove the parts. look at your favorite stuff whats good abpout ti and mimic it. I make what i like you you like should be diffrent

  • I know what I want it to be like, I just suck at throwing it! Hehe! I want a curvey but tall mug - lip out at the top - handle with room for a man's 4 fingers to hold well. I try time and again, but I never do get it right! Hehe!

  • So, that's what you look like. It wasn't that clear from the other videos. And you changed your T-shirt! I had been brooding a joke about you actually being a cartoon, with a wardrobe stacked with the same jeans and light blue T-shirts, like Olive Oil. Ghgh :)

Sorry, no useful comment on handles. Don't really like to use them.

  • LOVE teaching this to adolescents!!

  • I prefer the pulled handles ... I mean handles pulled with the flexible metal rib of death. Tim any chance of that Goblet chuck?
