They got rid of the last one because of health and safety but it must have affected tourism so much that they are launching them again. It's all for show. Look at that bike scheme - novice riders can just jump on one, without a helpet (because that would be a strategical nightmare to provide for people so it's 'forgotten about and accepted') and get squashed on londons dreadfully dangerous roads

This is one of the strangest looking buses I've ever seen - in fact I think it is quite ugly. What is wrong with the buses London has now? The old Routemaster design, which was also used throughout the UK, might have been a symbol of London but it couldn't last forever. This new design is clearly trying to embody something of that but like the resurrected Beetle and Mini, it doesn't really work and just looks querky.

Being a Londoner I find it disgraceful that the bus fares are going up above inflation rate. In the old days I use to be able to afford traveling the tube but not any more as it is way to expensive. Bus fares are also heading that direction and as someone working on a minimum wage I am struggling to afford the cost of travel. It is about time we Londoner get together and demonstrate as often as possible outside the mayor's office that we can't live beyond our means.

When on earth are they going to switch on the bloody heating upstairs on the new 73 route..?! I get on a bus at around 06:30 in the morning and only twice have they managed to turn the heating on and, get this, they even manage to provide some nice, new, COLD air to pop through the vents instead! By the way, I sit upstairs because all the seats downstairs are so bloody uncomfortable! (Except for the four disabled seats and two of those are right next to the bloody door!).
@paulmeathome Even worse is when the bus companies in the South West are short of a bus and get an old Rapide motorway bus out of mothballs then use it on country lanes. It was never designed for that and the chemical toilet gets sloshed around and makes foul smells. As it is supposed to be air-conditioned none of the windows are openable and the air-con doesn't work! Please bring your own sick-bag!

Being a Londoner I find it disgraceful that the bus fares are going up above inflation rate. In the old days I use to be able to afford traveling the tube but not any more as it is way to expensive. Bus fares are also heading that direction and as someone working on a minimum wage I am struggling to afford the cost of travel. It is about time we Londoner get together and demonstrate as often as possible outside the mayor's office that we can't live beyond our means.

Where is the engine and how do you fix it? Hope that they don't forget to fit a large nut for a towing eye behind the number plate (what someone I know didn't have at Glasto) His coach got wrecked when it got stuck in the mud and they towed it backwards from the rear axle. Anyhow 80 passengers at 12 stones each (fairly light nowadays with all these burgers around) is 6 tons of people - not much opportunity for weight saving then? If you want to see good buses look at Gateshead.

It's all a bit unnecessary though, so what if the staircase didn't have a window and seemed bleak...
Actually I do have great legs so it was pretty criminal that people couldn't view them from a window while I was climbing the stairs. Fair case.

When on earth are they going to switch on the bloody heating upstairs on the new 73 route..?! I get on a bus at around 06:30 in the morning and only twice have they managed to turn the heating on and, get this, they even manage to provide some nice, new, COLD air to pop through the vents instead! By the way, I sit upstairs because all the seats downstairs are so bloody uncomfortable! (Except for the four disabled seats and two of those are right next to the bloody door!).

@paulmeathome Even worse is when the bus companies in the South West are short of a bus and get an old Rapide motorway bus out of mothballs then use it on country lanes. It was never designed for that and the chemical toilet gets sloshed around and makes foul smells. As it is supposed to be air-conditioned none of the windows are openable and the air-con doesn't work! Please bring your own sick-bag!

Ohhhhhh.... its a bus, im not sure how excited i can get over something that gets me from A to B. As long as its cheap and on time, why on earth would i give a crap if it is "revolutionary" or "stylish". We can see out the bus while we walk up stairs? Well in my experience I want to make it up the steps fast enough to avoid being flung backward off the staircase when the guy in the seat at the front tries to stamp a hole in the floor. Not watch the view sail past as I'm launched through the air.
