For years, people were running around saying black is beautiful. They took one look at your family and said hold everything. Fred and Esther beefing was hilarious.
My dad loved this show and I never gave it a chance until now. I'm hooked and have watched all of the episodes so far to this point (in record time perhaps). Just a couple things that I wanted to point out:

@drlove1972 Esther was really a revamp of Aunt Ethel. The actress (Beah Richards) that played her had a nice demeanor which didn't play off of Fred surliness. LaWanda Page was a good friend of Redd's and he helped get her the part. And the rest is history. And don't forget Aunt Hazel from Lamont's botched wedding in the first season. Lillian Randolph was good in that role, herself. But I feel that Norman Lear was just seeing what stuck.

My dad loved this show and I never gave it a chance until now. I'm hooked and have watched all of the episodes so far to this point (in record time perhaps). Just a couple things that I wanted to point out:
Redd Foxx was a comic genius, that I'm sad to say I was too young too appreciate while he was alive. M-y-n-j-u-n-k-y-a-r-d-(period) is the man for posting these classic gems. 3-people need one across their lips.

candyon22s, No, not online, however, TVLAND shows it at 3 in the morning sometimes, and I've seen a few seasons for cheap at Wal*Mart. Your best bet would get all seasons at Best Buy's stores, website, or phone service.

@drlove1972 Esther was really a revamp of Aunt Ethel. The actress (Beah Richards) that played her had a nice demeanor which didn't play off of Fred surliness. LaWanda Page was a good friend of Redd's and he helped get her the part. And the rest is history. And don't forget Aunt Hazel from Lamont's botched wedding in the first season. Lillian Randolph was good in that role, herself. But I feel that Norman Lear was just seeing what stuck.
