  • it needs a bitt readjustment your stability of rpm fals down so u need to tighten ure air intace a bitt and dont use edelbrock intakes there junk use holley that u can adjust like a pro

  • @PITBULL35383 i dont know diff frm car or trk,those #s r something a chas dyno guy told me.ive always figure 100-150 hp loss from eng to chas dyno,some day ill dyno same motor on eng n chas dyno,i dont think the transfer loss is much, ?

  • @PITBULL35383 the nos works better w compression. this DONT use race gas it runs PUMP gas w torco(1 can to 20 gal).if u look at my vids 1 of street nova at track.11:1 383 (afr heads) running pump gas n drivven alot on street,will lift tries at track.these tor cool to watch coz of the size diff'.but it nos is used by by nova.the truck motor is running short rods(400 ci)to make it peaky..rev quick.

  • @PITBULL35383 think a .040 over would 385.howd it get in to 3? know how itd get in 1 but not out ,sure u wernt looking at detonation..piston tops look like they were stabbed w somthing. .060 over is 388. u using short(400ci) rods or 350 or better yet long(6 inch)

  • @PITBULL35383 do know my sht,doing it over 30 years.dont worry takes lot to piss me off,ull know when u do..ill knock on yer door :) u will loose over 100 hp through drive line(ive been told 30 percent loss) i wanted to pull this motor n eng dyno to KNOW how much loss,but owner needed truck bak..040 over is 385 n .060 is 388 ci.this will pull hard(seat o pants) till 6000rpm.the chas dynos great coz u can tune (jet n time)it on it n eng dyno u can jet wot

  • @PITBULL35383 this is RACED but driven on streets.it runs pump w/torco to make it like 106 octane.if u r .040 over u dont have a 383...this motor is over 600 hp at crank-570 ft 520 hp CHASSIS dyno on just motor.timing is 14 initial and 28 total for the 200 shot of NOS,u should c gown the track..its worth it!

  • @hangmandude2009 its got a 14x5 tall k&n filter,its ok to run (& easyer to get to carb screws)w/out a filter,just dont drive w/out one,though i know a few that do coz they made like 4 more hp on a chass dyno w/out one.

  • ANYBODY WONDERING HOW TO KEEP A COLD CARBURATED ENGINE RUNNING .... turn key for about 4 seconds then pump 4 times then it will start... rev to about 1,500 put it in drive drive it about 6 feet, put back in park. if it shuts off, start again and rev to 1,000 and let off it will stay started... (ALWAYS WORKS ON MY 383 STROKER CAMARO)

But I just dont get why you would want to make yourself look like your illiterate or half retarded of soemthing and then expect people to want you to have their engines apart!   • They have a dyno sheet on AFR web site that show Hp Tq. what Cam intake carb....And they have both 383 and 350 So its what i went by not meaning you have to belive it

  • keep in mind its a cheated dyno(no asseries)so once in car turning alt,power steering,water pump,& fan u will only have high 480 ish.but .060 over(bigger bore will flow better) n 10+like 10.3:1(can still run pump)would put u over 500 with a propper built motor.u gonna use 6 inch rods?

  • i charge $400 +cost of parts n machine work to build a motor,so it really come down to what u want for parts,the top end on this motor(dart)is like $2500 not counting the $500 in cam,lifters,springs.BUT the one it did for the yellow 68 truck was like $2000-$2500 total-pro comp heads($500,)non roller cam,could do a hyd roller 383 w/alum heads for the street n some track for bout $3000 w/the eagle kit.yer truck 2 or 4 wheel drive?

  • at track open header can help some,350 needs to b stroked(400 crank-3.75 inch stroke) not bored.the longer stroke makes easy torque

  • hey man i also have a stroker engine, but im loosing oil pressure , im changing my oil pump and hopeing that fixes the problem.. but what is a good size cam to go with, im new to the stroker engine and need a few pointers

  • make sure the oil pick up is no closer than 1/4 from pan bottom.run a good oil (10 w 40 -i like castrol)cam depends on alot compresion being the big factor,n heads,intake,carb.....on the street w/small stall like 2000-2800.i LOVE the comp cams xtreme energy 274 10:1 compresionor less.or w/more like 10-11:1 the xtreme 284 is great.u want 3.73ish grears. run bout 12deg timing @ idle &30 - 36- total w/650 or 700 holly double pumper,NO edelbrock.

  • xtreme energy 274 with 1.6 rocker is what im running in my 383. I'll tell you another good cam i've liked. magnum 286h, That thing is down right scary with a 4 speed and 411 gears but that cam dont smooth out until about 2200rpm. I raped mine to 7200rpm and it just laughed at me lol. I run an edelbrock airgap intake on mine, What do you run on yours?

  • the 1:6 rockers prob work real well w/the 274.i use the 280mag cam but havnt tryed the 286 yet.i like the rpm intake for edel' its not too bad.(thats whats on the 68 w/383 i did)the one in this vid i think was a victor.want to step into a new world try a torklink intake.

  • I might try that torklink on my next build but I really cant complain about the setup I got now. I do miss my old set up in the 67 firebird i had w/411 posi, 4 speed and the 286h. Theres just no comparison between that and the 67 impala w/ the 274xe, 700r4 and 3.36 one wheel peal rear end lol If you want to get an idea of what a comp 286 is like, look up "hemi powered rat rod" on here. sure its a hemi but the characteristics of what there running is very close to the comp 286magum

  • hey i was wandering what are the cam specs on this engine? brand, lift lobe seperation, duration ect.. i was thinking about haveing a 12-1 motar built. i went with the cam that you told me to last time in the 327.and it really runs well and for being a smaller lift cam it has a great lil radical idle. can you plz help me out again? lol

  • u could run the bracketmaster u have-u would have the static compression 4it.BUT the cam in this truck is a special grind roller part#12-000-9 sn#m 7608-08 geind#cs 4135/4143 r 110.0. .654/646lift dur299/302@.020 268/270@.050 w/110lobe sep'.glad the 327 worked out 4u

  • i don't believe that you cammed it for torque it still lopes at 2 grand on the tach i won't do shit till you get a lot of rpms on it

  • hey whats up? hey i was wandering if i could get some advice because you seam to know what you are talking about,... i have a 327 ..30. over with keithblack hypertenic pistons and 5.7 rods with stock 305 heads with manley valves it has a lunatie bracket master cam its 300 duration and 515 lift but is that the rite cam for the engine ? i mean i want it to sound wicked with that lope but do you think i could go with a better choice?

  • if u want to drive it n melt tires thats the WRONG cam-that cam needs @ least 11:1 compresion.if it were me id run the comp cams xe274h or the xr 276hr-10. these r both on a 110 lobe sep that will help w/cyl press(the more cyl psi u can make the better)n r healthy @.050 for there duration on a 106 intake it will give u the lobe sound,throttle responce low end torque(to melt tires).run bout 12-15 de inital N 32-36 total timing w/double pumper carb(NOT a EDEL!!)

  • rap?u mean rev? a few things play in to it but th big factors r cam profile,dist curve (u want timing to come in quick as poss w/o causing spark knock) as much initial timing as u can,& double pumper carb w/the right size squerters.if u have motor u r having probs w/let me know the prob n whats been done to motor.if its not returning u could have vaccum leak or dist hanging up,timing not returnig back to inital setting,the weights can stick or the springs r 2 light

  • Well these are the specs on the cam that's in it from what i've read it's pretty good. It only has 9.5:1 compression but good enough for me it's just for the street : # Hydraulic Flat Tappet

    # Duration @ .050'' Lift: 234 Intake / 244 Exhaust

    # Lift: .487'' Intake / .508'' Exhaust

    # Lobe Separation: 112°

  • thats alot of @.050 for a 9:5 motor whats total duration & int center line ill guess n int is close to 290 & ext is close to 300.r u using 6" rods or 5.7(std 350 rods)? depending on ur climate u can run 11:1 w/alum heads on pump gas,warmer climates 10:1-10:5.its sool n dry in this state(maine) so 11:1 on pump gas is not a prob'
