There's no effective MMA defense to MMA grappling except studying MMA grappling defense. Which is what Bruce never did, so would need the year (or maybe more) to learn.
You don't get MMA skills by doing non-MMA. Bruce was a good martial artist...but he was NOT doing the sport of MMA. He would need time, as Bas says.
Bas Rutten is correct here I would also agree. Bruce was an incredible fighter and a genius, but a high level Mixed Martial Artists with excellent wrestling and submission skills that could keep a Bruce Lee out of his game could beat him easily. This is based on opinion.

Most times he ignored it but some times he had to take the people to school. Also, he was a true student of martial arts. I think bruce lee would of done great in MMA because he was so lighting fast that as soon as anyone threw a punch he blocked and counter attacked with a punch so fast and powerful that it could KO anyone. I think strength would have to go to MMA fighters, but sheer speed and devastating power of punches and kicks, bruce lee would be able to react so fast that no-one could barely ever get a second punch in. A split second after they threw the punch at bruce lee, they were on the floor.
Bruce lee will not lose. Let me think he will be on a defend for maybe one minute, 3 minute of Ali, last minute of kick ass knock out move. And never doubt his strength and stamina. Just go read his trainning book. Who the hell run 10 km everyday. I bet he can do 3 finger pull up.

I think people have trouble understanding that it wasn't anything special (training, fighting style, experience, etc.) that Bruce did that made him great. at the end of the day. Bruce was a very hyped 125lb MAist who didn't have any real fights. He was relatively weak. His only real saving grace is that he probably has a huge gas tank. But Bruce was only the theory of fighting. What he thought would work, and impressed some talentless hacks that he trained. But he never fought against someone who is actually experienced in both striking and grappling. If he did, he'd change his theory around a bit.

There's no effective MMA defense to MMA grappling except studying MMA grappling defense. Which is what Bruce never did, so would need the year (or maybe more) to learn.
You don't get MMA skills by doing non-MMA. Bruce was a good martial artist...but he was NOT doing the sport of MMA. He would need time, as Bas says.

I think bruce lee would of done great in MMA because he was so lighting fast that as soon as anyone threw a punch he blocked and counter attacked with a punch so fast and powerful that it could KO anyone. I think strength would have to go to MMA fighters, but sheer speed and devastating power of punches and kicks, bruce lee would be able to react so fast that no-one could barely ever get a second punch in. bruce lees style was too adapt to any situation this guy was full of muscle in every inch of his body i can assure he had grappling skills not only that bruce punching you with all his power in your face youd probably die or break somethig this guy didnt lift 200 pounds dumbells he lifted 100 pounds but he could lift it for longer than any human i know

bruce lee was a streetfighter, who trained harder and was in better physical shape than anybody who is in mma, and probably who ever was in mma. size didnt matter on the streets, he is too fast, too experianced, and has too much endurance to lose to anyone in mma, let alone the lightweights. give him time to train and he'll win any fight in under 30 seconds

I think people have trouble understanding that it wasn't anything special (training, fighting style, experience, etc.) that Bruce did that made him great. Fighting was his gift and he was good, he had limits and wasn't invincible, but he was GOOD at it. I mean it is smart to have a ground game and all that, but if you are fighting some one who is just a naturally good fighter it doesn't matter what you do...it's not bragging it's just fact.

@mmalizard I need for you dudes to realize that Bruce Lee did have grappling skills, he could stop a takedown, he could wrestle, I do not know where you are getting it from that Bruce had no grappling skills. He got into more street fights than anybody you can think of. Bas Rutten couldn't beat ken shamrock, so he is the one that needed some grappling help.

@rajusehmi Even if he was faster, he would not be stronger than the heavier guys in the UFC. Times have changed and the game has passed him by. I reckon he would get mopped on the ground with BJJ experts in MMA. The fighters of today are too well rounded. They followed what Lee started and have passed him by.

No one asks if Bruce Lee would fight depending on his philosophies on fighting for example. Would he even care? Or how he might've changed his own techniques, had he lived. If he would exist today with the same attitude and philosophy, not based upon the 50's, 60's and 70's mindset he would be someone different.
