The force of this video is to "prove" that you cannot combine baptism and remission of sins. But the argument fails, due to the fact that in the NT Greek, there is no third person singular. The imperative takes only the second person. The Greek rule shows that their argument on the grammar of Acts 2:38 goes down with the rest of this video's sophistry.
To all of you that are passionately arguing for baptism being required for salvation I ask you please to first watch this entire video attentively. I know it goes against your grain but if you do this you will save us both and others a lot of time and arguments by first understanding the position of those who do not believe baptism is required for salvation. This video and the response video to it by me together provide a thorough exegetical basis for no requirement of baptism for salvation.
@epidome I understand your position, and have watched the video. However, I believe that 17 other translators would know more of the Greek. 17 translations render it, in some way or form, repent and be baptized for remission of sins. The Greek rule does not apply here, for the third person refers to the second person plural- it is like a prepositional phrase, in that it explains what else those who repent should do. Each one of those who repent should be baptized.
@epidome You argue baptism for salvation because you don't understand the importance of getting baptized. In ALL cases baptism was done and commanded -- NEVER was baptism into Jesus name left out of the salvation process--NEVER! The penalty for sin is death therefore we MUST die. In Romans 6 Paul explains the process quite clearly. Our old man must die--when we are burried in the water we are DEAD with Jesus! Does He leave us dead--NO! When we are raised up we are made to drink the spirit- LIFE!
If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
We are born under a curse (the sin of the world -John 1:29) this sin is DEATH and we can NOT pray this curse away--it takes action on our part. Baptism into Jesus Christ remitts this curse of DEATH and when the Holy Ghost enters us we are converted, regenerated & reborn unto LIFE
@wilby1414, this argument holds true if the receiving of the Holy Spirit is after baptism which Scripturally it clearly is not. I don't know if you are aware of Acts (10:44-48) or not or if you have also watch this video entirely and attentively. The Greek Rule doesn't allow for baptism being required for the receiving of the Holy Spirit coupled with Cornelius and the other gentiles with him receiving the Holy Spirit prior to baptism.
@epidome The receiving of the baptism of the Holy Spirit was a limited occurrence. It was never tied to salvation. If so, show me. Where is the baptism OF the Holy Spirit ever tied to salvation? Paul didn't receive it, in Acts 22:16, because he did not speak in tongues. He instead was baptized in water to wash away his sins. Eph. 4:4 there is ONE baptism. That is the baptism Jesus commanded. The Greek Rule is a fictitious rule, ignoring basic facets of grammar.
@epidome Every one of you repent, and let him [that repents] be baptized for remission of sins. Baptism is essential to salvation, for it is obedience, it is how we become slaves of righteousness (Rom. 6:1-3,17-18). Acts 10 clearly shows that the baptism of the Spirit does not save, for they still had to be baptized into water. 1 Pet. 3:21 "Baptism now saves you... not the removing of the filth of the flesh but the PLEDGE of a GOOD CONSCIENCE toward God."
@clearedtoengage, you clearly aren't paying attention to the entire video. This video reveals the Greek not the English and the conclusion you are drawing from the English cannot be drawn in Greek. This video is not opinion it is the Greek and what it will and will not allow.
@epidome I am paying attention to the video. The Greek does support that translation, for there is NO translation that translates it according to your false gospel. It's like what we have in English- dependent clauses and independent clauses. There is no such thing as a rule that makes you unable to combine two clauses that have different number and person.
@clearedtoengage, there is such a thing and it is called The Greek Rule and it is not a fabrication of mine. Google it and you will find that it is real and makes you unable to combine clauses that have different number and person. You see this is where the mistake is made, a doctine is generated based on English and then there is refusal to acknowledge Greek if it doesn't fit the doctrine founded in English conclusions. Not only that but there are those who were saved prior to baptism.
@epidome Not under the new covenant, there aren't. Prove to me examples of this, because I guarantee you I can Biblically show you they were not saved until baptism. The Greek does NOT support breaking the sentences up. All the Greek says is that the first noun is not the same as the second one when two sentences, combined with "kai", have the nouns preceded by English "the". Which is true! "Repent, all of you, and let him [that repents] be baptized"- for without repentance baptism was futile.
@epidome Not all of them could be baptized, but only the repentant. This Greek rule you speak of does not say you cannot combine them (making no sense, for the "kai" logical connective was there, so you have two clauses, which cannot be together, yet the Holy Spirit obviously intended them to be connected), merely that the nouns do not refer to the same thing. Again, they do not.
@clearedtoengage That is NOT TRUE. There is only "one baptism" that saves. You CANNOT have a singular subject and 'combine' it with a plural verb, The video is correct. Someone who continually 'takes out words' from God's HOLY WRIT are under a curse, and has no business 'playing greek scholar'. The Greek "KAI" does not over-rule the "number, gender, or case" of the subject/verb agreement in the sentance. You are out of your league here. Obey the scriptures. And STOP TAKING GOD'S WORDS OUT!
@locustweed You are correct, there is only one baptism that saves. WHICH ONE DID JESUS PREACH? Water baptism. The subject is not 3person it is 2nd. The Greek Grammar states plainly that the Imperative takes only the second person, and that there is no third person singular. Hedley and Allen, Greek Grammar, page 264. Thayers Greek Lexicon, page 192. Liddell and Scott, page 478.
@locustweed You are the one who takes out words from God's Word. Acts 2:38 is never translated the way this video advocates. Greek scholars know a lot more about translating than you. You are OUT OF YOUR LEAGUE HERE. OBEY THE SCRIPTURES. Matt. 28:18-20 "baptizing them"- one baptism that saves- the one Jesus preached- Rom 6.
@epidome By the way, in the Greek, there is no third person singular. The Greek Grammar states plainly that the Imperative takes only the second person, and that there is no third person singular. Hedley and Allen, Greek Grammar, page 264. Thayers Greek Lexicon, page 192. Liddell and Scott, page 478. Therefore, the clauses can and should, of right, be joined together by "kai", the way the HS intended, and both repentance and baptism therefore are connected to salvation.
@epidome As Christians (not any other name), we preach the SAME gospel that Jesus preached (Mark 16:16), Peter preached (Acts 2:38; 10:47-48), Paul preached (Romans 6:3-23; Gal. 3:27; 1 Cor. 12:13), and all faithful obedient servants of our living God preach. Acts 10 CONFIRMS Acts 2, for they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, which does not save. Baptism OF the Holy Spirit and baptism BY the Spirit are two different things. "BY" saves, "OF" doesn't!
@clearedtoengage Always perverting the Bible--leaving out GOD'S Words that destroy your bloodless-water-gospel. 1 Peter 3:21 "THE LIKE FIGURE" Baptism is a FIGURE "ANTITUPON"(Greek) "opposing MODEL". A model is an "imitattion of the TRUE". Jesus Christ and His death Burial and Resurrection is the TRUE. Notice folks how this guy ALWAYS "takes away from the WORDS of God". There is a CURSE on those violate this command. REV. 22:19 Have a nice eternity, or repent and trust Jesus alone and live!
@locustweed You are a fool. "Antitype" means foreshadowing, not opposing model. You are the one who takes away from the Word of God! There is "one baptism" (Eph. 4:4), the one Jesus preached (Mt. 28:18-20), the one the apostles preached FOR REMISSION OF SINS (Acts 2:38; Rom. 6:4; Acts 22:16; 1 Pet. 3:21). Baptism is a ANTITYPE which now saves us, it does not say that baptism now DOES NOT save you. Baptism is an antitype but baptism still saves THROUGH THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS.
@locustweed Bloodless? You fail at understanding the Bible. How do we contact the blood of Christ [only way we can be saved, through His blood- Matt. 26:28]? Romans 6:3 says it is through BAPTISM. Your gospel is bloodless, it is a false gospel perpetuated by those who would not obey the will of God (Matt. 7:21). JESUS SAID, He that believes AND IS BAPTIZED shall be saved. Belief and baptism are both necessary to salvation.
@locustweed Antitupon- antitype not opposing model. But baptism saves us THROUGH JESUS CHRIST'S DEATH BURIAL AND RESURRECTION! How can you be so foolish and not comprehend? Without Jesus's death, burial, and resurrection, baptism would mean absolutely nothing! But BECAUSE OF HIS SACRIFICE, BAPTISM NOW SAVES US!
@locustweed If faith only saves, then Paul was saved on the road to Damascus, correct? Well, if he was, apparently he sinned more between being saved and being baptized, for Ananias said to "wash away your sins" (Acts 22:16- through baptism). Either that, or maybe baptism really does wash away your sins! Why would the Holy Spirit tell Paul to wash away his sins, and then not tell him how? Baptism is the effectual way through which a man can wash away his sins, and call on the name of the Lord.
@locustweed You cannot stand against the power of God. You claim to follow Him, but you do not understand the Scriptures and twist them, to your own destruction (2 Pet. 3:16). I am not taking away from the words of God, I am taking EVERY SCRIPTURE INTO ACCOUNT, something you have failed to do. Repent and trust Jesus alone? I have done that! Trusting Jesus involves OBEYING WHAT HE TOLD YOU TO DO. You are not washed in the blood of the Lamb and you have never been in fellowship with God. Repent!
Even if you believe that the Holy Ghost can enter you before baptism into Jesus Christ --- which I say is backwards -- but for arguement sake say it is done that way for some --baptism into Jesus Christ is still commanded/mandatory to complete the salvation process.
So why even argue about baptism? Either way it is necessay for salvation.
Baptism into Jesus Christ is the beginning of your salvation journey!
@wilby1414, Acts (10:44-48)While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles. For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God. Then Peter said, “Surely no one can stand in the way of their being baptized with water. They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have."
@wilby1414, Acts (10:44-48) shows us that the Holy Spirit is received prior to water baptism and Romans (8:9) shows us that without the Holy Spirit we do not belong to Christ. It is the Holy Spirit not water baptism that makes us a child of God spiritually! Romans (8:9) You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.
@epidome Eph. 4:4 shows that there is one baptism and one faith. Jesus preached the same gospel that Peter, Paul, and the rest of the apostles preached, for He led them into all truth with the Spirit (John 16:13). The baptism that Jesus preached was a baptism that could be performed by man (Matt 28:18-20)- "baptizing them". There is only one baptism that saves. Does the baptism of the Holy Spirit save? If it did, there would be no need of water baptism.
1/ The Faith-the doctrine of Christ / the doctrine of salvation
2/ Personal faith
3/ The Faith of Abraham
It is faith #3 that saves us. It is a faith that requires action such as Abraham willing to sacrifice his son. Being baptized into Jesus Christ takes the same faith of Abraham, it requires action. When we get baptized we are applying this faith and believing that baptism will save us based on His word
The H. G. does convert, regenerates n makes born again
Acts8:36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
GOOD! believe with all thine heart first, then baptized--Love KJV!! "ALL thine heart means to trust Jesus COMPLETELY, with NO ADDITIVES--Jesus Fills it ALLL. Thanks!
"Believe" according to the GREEK/English textus receptus. " Pisteuo" "to trust in", "to have faith in or upon a person or thing", "to entrust one's hope or spiritual well being in God". I do not know where you got your definition. It sounds like one of those hand-me-down, repeater lies I have heard before.
NIce "tradition of men definition" but Galatians 3:27 never says the baptism is 'water'. IT MUST BE SPIRITUAL, because there is only ONE baptism and that of the Spirit. There is no such thing as Jesus "jeans" to put on. This is Spiritual talk . "But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh to fulfil the lust thereof." Simply means to WALK IN THE SPIRIT and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. Gal 5:16
@locustweed Eph. 4:4 there is ONE baptism and ONE Spirit, you say that the baptism is Spirit baptism but then Paul is being repetitive to no effect... Gal. 3:27, the baptism is WATER because that is what happened in EVERY case of conversion, Spirit baptism did NOT occur in ANY case of conversion, it occurred SEPARATELY.
@locustweed Repent and RETURN... Turn to God... Be converted.. WHAT DOES BE CONVERTED MEAN? Do what Jesus said... Mark 16:16... Luke 13:3.. Romans 10:9-10... Romans 10:17.. John 3:16..
Look up the GREEK/English for Converted. If you don't know what it means. You can't return until your sin-debt is settled at the CROSS of Jesus Christ by Grace.
@locustweed Wow, you are really insane.. you return BY settling the sin-debt at the cross by grace through faith, and what is baptism?? FAITH IN THE WORKING OF GOD!
That's where it starts-- at the CROSS!--I seem to think you have not been there YET. Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God and HE WILL LIFT YOU UP"
@locustweed Be converted to Christ.. how does that happen? Romans 10:17, Luke 13:3, Romans 10:9-10, Mark 16:16, Rev. 2:10... do what the Scriptures say and you will be converted, but if you DON'T, you AREN'T converted.
@locustweed Luke 13:3 "Unless you repent you will all perish"... excuse me where is belief? Oh, I'm sorry, I guess you have to READ ALL THAT THE BIBLE SAYS to get the whole picture... Romans 10:9-10 belief and confession save... WHERE IS REPENTANCE? Oh, you have to read ALL that the Bible says..
@locustweed In THAT passage, belief only results in righteousness, which makes BELIEF A WORK OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, which cannot save according to you!!!! John 6:28-29.. BELIEF IS A WORK! But you STILL HAVE TO DO IT!!!
@locustweed Eph. 2:8-10 read the whole verse, "created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them." obviously some works are necessary.. NOT by works that we should BOAST of, but of OBEDIENCE, read James 2:14-26...
After salvation yes! only those who have been "created in Christ Jesus" AFTER SALVATION "Therefore if any man be in Christ (spiritually) he is a new creature".. 2 Cor. 5:17 Went over this before too--end of discussion--
@clearedtoengage, this passage is speaking of works resulting from salvation not salvation resulting from works! This doesn't make one single work necessary for salvation but results from the voluntary will of a Christian out of gratitude and love for God and the cost of their salvation! You are trying to reverse it and make salvation result from works, it is the exact opposite. Someone can beleive and do no works and be saved! Romans (10:13) and Romans (10:9), Nothing more is required!
@clearedtoengage, What you are saying here is unbiblical and goes against the Word of God! You cannot have works and faith, it is one or the other. Even the faith you believe with is given to you and not of yourself.
Ephesians (2:8-9)For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast.
Romans (11:6)And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.
@epidome Brother, you need to take a hard look at some Scripture. If you would, read the latter context of Eph. 2, specifically verses 11-22. That passage is speaking of circumcision, the work of the Law that the Jews were trying to impose on the Gentiles. So also is a lot of the book of Romans. Check out Romans 3:20 "by the works __of the Law__ no man will be justified". Romans 11 is clearly speaking of the national state of the Jews. cont...
@epidome He is here speaking of the same as in Romans 9; the seed of Jesus Christ going through Israel, but as a nation, they rejected Him by crucifying Him. "But by their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles" (Rom. 11:11).
We know that faith without works profits absolutely nothing- if it profited salvation, it would profit much. Without works, faith is dead. Can a dead faith save?
@epidome Brother, the man who only believes will never be saved. What were the words of Jesus? "Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter." (Matt. 7:21) They are not speaking of works resulting of salvation. James 2:14-26, "Justified by works, and not by faith only". Justification, sanctification and salvation are the same thing. Salvation is a result of some works. Which ones? cont..
@epidome John 6:28-29 shows that faith is a work. How then must one be saved? Let us turn and look to the example of Saul, who later became Paul. He heard the word of Jesus, believed, but still had sin, according to Ananias. What did he lack? Calling on the name of the Lord (Acts 22:16), even though he prayed to Him. Sounds like more than just belief is necessary.
@locustweed, It is challenging when people are determined to add things to the what is required for salvation. The heart of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is 1 corinthians (1:18), 1 Corinthians (1:22-24) and Romans (10:9). Then they will say "You are saying all you have to do is believe and you can do whatever you want!" When you respond with John (14:15) they find this unsatisfying. This video is a thorough exegesis with a complimentary video that puts to rest their arguments yet they hold to them.
@epidome The heart of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the entire New Testament. Mark 16:16 and Matthew 28:18-20 are also parts of the gospel. We do not add things to what is required. We obey the words of Jesus, when He said, "baptizing them... teaching them to observe all that I commanded you..." that includes baptism. Now, without this "one baptism" that Jesus, Paul, and Peter preached, one cannot be saved.
@locustweed Yes, it was WATER baptism in EVERY case of conversion, Acts 3:19 is no exception, EVERY case!! Repent AND return! They KNEW what they needed to do! Acts 26:20 perform DEEDS appropriate to REPENTANCE!!
@locustweed This IS Spiritual talk! Baptized by the Spirit into ONE BODY at WATER BAPTISM, you cannot obey a promise!!! Romans 6:17-18 say that BAPTISM is OBEDIENCE, you CANNOT OBEY Spirit baptism because that was a PROMISE, it must be a COMMAND! Can you CHOOSE to be given the baptism of the Spirit? NO! You CAN choose to be baptized in WATER! That is OBEDIENCE!!!!
@locustweed You are of the devil, you who fail to heed Scripture. I already dealt with that. There is ONLY ONE BAPTISM COMMANDED. You CANNOT obey any command to be baptized in the Spirit, because that is SPONTANEOUS and has NO connection WHATSOEVER with belief, the only baptism that saves and the only baptism that was COMMANDED (Rom 6:17-18) is WATER baptism FOR the remission of sins!!!
@locustweed 1+1=2 that is my very argument! ONE baptism!!! That means Acts 10-11 show there was only ONE baptism that was saving! It was NOT both water and Spirit baptism! Baptism BY the Spirit INTO one body is when God adds you to the church WHEN you are baptized IN water FOR remission of sins! Becoming OBEDIENT to Spirit baptism is IMPOSSIBLE! Therefore Romans 6 can ONLY be talking about WATER baptism because SPIRIT baptism NEVER SAVES!!
@locustweed Baptism of the Spirit occurred ONLY TWICE without ANY purpose of salvation. First time it occurred was in Acts 2:1-4 to the 12 apostles. They were not said to have been saved by that. Second time it occurred was in Acts 10:44-46, and they were NOT said to have been saved by that, in fact they were STILL commanded to be baptized in water! THIS baptism was NEVER FOR salvation, but it was to show WHO COULD BE SAVED, see Peter's reaction: "Surely no one can refuse the water..."
@locustweed In fact, when Spirit baptism occurred in Acts 10, it was BEFORE Peter had spoken the words by which they would be saved! So they COULD NOT have been saved before he had spoken the words, for "And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them" not AFTER he spoke!! They were NOT saved by Spirit baptism!
That is NOT what the KJV says in ACTS 10:44 "AS Peter YET SPAKE THESE WORDS" it then said "THE HOLY GHOST FELL ON ALLLL THEM ***HEARD THE WORD*** It says they HEARD IT!!!!! sorry. I already went over this also--END OF DISCUSSION--
@locustweed SORRY, I already went over this, AS HE SPOKE, but he FURTHER EXPLAINS in ACTS 11 that it was as HE WAS BEGINNING not as he had ALREADY SPOKEN!!!
@locustweed You are WRONG!!! You have Peter CONTRADICTING himself in ACTS 10 AND 11 saying that he said it was AFTER he was done and then saying it was before he started speaking! AS he BEGAN TO SPEAK, it happened, or you make him a LIAR! Acts 11:15, it's the same in the KJV...
@locustweed End of discussion? No. Acts 10:44 merely says they were LISTENING TO THE MESSAGE, not that they had ALREADY HEARD IT ALL. Listening and hearing are two different things... they were listening, but then the Holy Spirit baptized them... the words by which they would be saved were JUST BEGUN, but NOT FINISHED, according to Acts 11!!!
4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
First water baptism into Jesus Christ then you will receive the free gift of the Holy Ghost
Acts 10-11 actually prove that baptism is for salvation. They received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, but they STILL had to be born of water, as Jesus Himself commanded- you must be born of water AND the Spirit to be in the kingdom, John 3:3-5. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit, both times it occurred, was so both Jews and Gentiles could be saved. See what Peter said about it: "Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?"
The WATER of John 3:3-5 is NOT baptism; BUT MEANS "being born of the FLESH"--The word 'baptize is nowhere found in Jesus' discorse with Nicodemus. The womb is a water pouch FILLED WITH WATER during pre-natal stages. Has it ever occured to you that not every place in scripture where WATER is mentioned does not always mean 'baptism'.?? lol lol lol!!!
@locustweed You can LOL all you wish but the scriptures are very clear about water baptism. You say you have no pastor but I know that someone has lied to you, you are trying your hardest to support their belief system. The bible is very clear --ALL believers were baptized into Jesus Christ! That is why Paul said how were you baptized since you believed. It was common knowledge that ALL believers were baptized into Jesus Christ-THEN the Holy Ghost was in them -Christ in you is your hope of Glory
Yah, it IS VERY CLEAR. ONE BAPTISM-- NOT 2! -- ONLY ONE SAVES. THOSE JEWS were of John's baptism and had not heard of Christ's death burial and resurrection. GOSPEL They needed to "believe on Jesus", which they did. Upon Paul laying hands on them AT baptism they receievd the Holy Spirit. So who bewitched you? Who is the false teacher you are sitting under teaching you WORKS SALVATION? I stand by the BIBLE, no teacher but the Holy Spirit and the WORD of God-- KJV only.
@locustweed Only one baptism saves. Works salvation? It's called OBEDIENCE. Matt. 7:21... Belief without obedience condemns you. KJV only? That is of the devil himself. The Word of God is inspired, not because the translators were inspired, but because of the ORIGINAL WRITERS.
@locustweed That is right one baptism in water in Jesus name--this includes the Holy Ghost in the ONE baptism. John's baptism prepared the way for the baptism into Jesus Christ. (water & spirit). This is the ONLY conclusion you can come to unless to have been influenced by a lying preacher. Bpatism is not a big mystery, it is called the milk of the word--meaning simple and easy to understand.
NOW, everyone that was not Jewish is a Gentile. Jews were just one tribe of Israel out of twelve.
1+1 = 2, Nice try but, DO THE MATH. Jesus said SALVATION IS OF THE JEWS. John's baptism (repentance)was to prepare Israel as a NATION to receive her Messiah as King--they rejected HIM. SPIRIT baptism into the Body of Christ was a DOCTRINE OF PAUL. Jesus said the time is COMING when they that worship God must worship Him in Spirit and in TRUTH. God so desires this. Water baptism is NOT SPIRITUAL BAPTISM. It is the "LIKE FIGURE" an "ANTI-TYPE" 'opposite model'. 1Peter 3:20-21
@locustweed I have heard your terminology before: You are a repeater of hand me down lies. Water baptism is a commandment of Christ Himself! Jesus called baptism a righteous act. Meaning to make one right with God. The Holy Ghost fell upon the 120 in the upper room after they were baptized into Jesus Christ, then they waited for the Holy Spirit to fall upon them and it did just as Jesus commanded.
@locustweed John's baptism was to prepare Israel to receive Jesus and HIS baptism as well. In Spirit AND in truth. Anti-type does NOT mean opposite model, but it is the spiritual emphasis of the physical type [the ark]. 1+1=2 NICE TRY, but DO THE MATH, the baptism of the Spirit does NOT save and is NOT commanded and DOES NOT occur today.
Look up the Greek matey. *THE LIKE FIGURE* "ANTITUPON" made up of two other Greek words ANTI=against, or 'opposite', TUPON ="model' image (imitation). basically a symbol of the TRUE ONE BAPTISM. SPIRITUAL--end of discussion--
@locustweed Look up the Greek matey. Antitupon does NOT simply mean opposite model, you cannot just take a compound word in every case and put them next to each other, does "butterflies" mean butter flies? NO, that is NOT what the word means!! The like figure whereunto baptism now doth save you, the like figure DESCRIBES baptism, baptism is looking back to the ark in this case. End of discussion? For a false teacher who does not believe "Baptism now saves you"..
ANTITUPON compound word!. Who got wet in the FLOOD?--the wicked, who was dry?-- Those in the ark. What happened to those who were IN THE WATER--Died, perished. Who was saved, the WET ONES or dry ones? -dry! Water baptism and FLOOD are ANTITUPONS of the real! ARK raised =resurrection of Jesus those safe and DRY in the ARK (Jesus). Water baptism a figure of the REAL! JESUS --His Death, Burial, resurrection. Jesus SAVES through HIS SPIRITUAL BAPTISM upon."BY the resurrection of Jesus Christ".
@locustweed Sigh... again... you fail to understand. The ark is the type and baptism is the antitype. They were saved by water, the water swept the sinful away... the same as water baptism washes sins away, Acts 22:16. Jesus saves by baptism. Eph 2:8-9, again, FAITH. IS. A. WORK. OF. RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Only those who have been created in Christ Jesus get to do works? Hmm sounds opposite to James 2:14-26.. and John 6:28-29... and Romans 10..
@locustweed Not end of discussion unless you are going to say that faith IS a work of RIGHTEOUSNESS re: John 6:28-29 and Romans 10:9-10.. belief results in righteousness and it is a work so belief is a work of righteousness which cannot save?!! You are misinterpreting Titus 3:5...
@locustweed They fit like a glove because SOME works are required for salvation but not merit salvation, OBEDIENT works.. works according to repentance... if you do not do God's will you will perish, though you believe.. Matt. 7:21.
@locustweed Who was saved according to Peter in Acts 2, the wet ones or the dry ones? "Repent and be baptized FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS"... those who received his word were baptized..
@locustweed So it's merely a symbol of Spirit baptism? Enlighten me on how Spirit baptism, speaking in tongues, has EVER saved ANYONE? You are WRONG! I showed how both times Spirit baptism occurred in Scripture it was not for the purpose of salvation.
@locustweed You seem to be a mocker of the WORD and you are NOT taking new information very seriously. This is NOT a joke my friend -- are you doing the Lords work or are YOU twisting scripture ( as Satan does) to deceive the people?
If you turn people away from the truth in salvation then you stand alone at judgement day.
The salvation I teach is scriptural--Which teaches water baptism into Jesus Christ then the Holy Ghost.
YOU want to eliminate water baptism into Jesus Christ---WHY?
You are trying to ADD to GRACE SALVATION by making baptism a sacrement like the catholics. I am against that. Yes baptism IS an ACT (work) of righteousness--BUT!!! Titus 3:5 say NOOO! "Not BY WORKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS *which we have done* but according to His MERCY He SAVED us; by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the HOLY GHOST." ONE SPIRIT, ONE BAPTISM.
@locustweed According to His mercy, BY the WASHING of REGENERATION, which is BAPTISM in WATER for the REMISSION of SINS!!! Acts 2:38- Repent and be baptized FOR THE REMISSION OF YOUR SINS!!!
@locustweed Romans 6:17-18 "But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed, and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness." v4 "Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death" Baptism is OBEDIENCE, not LETTING the baptism of the Spirit HAPPEN! You have to make a CHOICE to be baptized, it is not the Spirit!!!
@locustweed Not by our works of righteousness, not because of anything that we have done, our baptism in water is not enough to save us without HIS MERCY! We don't DESERVE salvation just because we did what Jesus said, even when we have obeyed every command we are still unprofitable servants Luke 17:10, it doesn't mean we are WORKING for salvation but merely fulfilling conditions!
@locustweed No, it does not mean being born of the flesh. Jesus is NOT talking about being first born of the flesh, THEN born of the Spirit- He is talking about being born of water AND the Spirit, at the SAME TIME.
"He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, BUT HE THAT *BELIEVETH NOT* shall be damned". Sorry, believing the GOSPEL saves! baptism is NOT PART OF THE GOSPEL. 1 Cor 1:17 1 Cor 15:1-4
Spirit baptism when believing on Jesus seals you to the DAY OF REDEMPTION. Eph. 4:30
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
1/ Repent of sin unless you are righteous-- Luke 5:32
I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. (babies are righteous)
2/ Be baptized in the NAME of Jesus Christ
3/ You will receive the free GIFT of the Holy Ghost -the Holy Ghost is sent from the Father for receiving His name
You could not be more incorrect regarding baptism for salvation.
jesus said repentance is for sinners, not for the righteous, but need to be baptized. if you understood the purpose of baptism into Jesus name you would not be fighting this saving act. I think you are searching for truth but you may just be trying to support your Paster's lies--not sure what you motive actually is here.
Romans6 Paul explains the reason and process for baptism - I suggest you read it --contact me again for more
@wilby1414 Baptism into Jesus name and the receiving of the Holy ghost is neccesary for salvation. It is the ONLY name under heaven whereby man can be saved. Romans 6 says- when we are in the water we are buried we Jesus, when we come out of the water we are made to drink the spirit and we are quickened and made alive.
That is why Jesus said we must be born again, regenerated and converted-from WHAT? We MUST be changed from DEATH to LIFE. We are born unto DEATH-Death will not enter the Kingdom
@wilby1414 The Holy Ghost is a gift from the Father. It is given after we are baptized into Jesus name. The Holy Ghost make you alive, it changes you from DEATH to LIFE.
We are reborn into His family and we receive the family name. We are then joint-heirs with Christ--we are in the body of Christ--we are sons of God--we are the Elect--we are the true seed of Abraham--our name is written in the book of LIFE--We are the CHURCH--Christ is in us and we are in Christ as He is in the Father we are 1
@wilby1414, Acts (10:44-48) While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles. For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God. Then Peter said, “Surely no one can stand in the way of their being baptized with water. They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.”
@epidome Great Job! I have not seen a thorough explanation using Greek rules of grammar of this scripture before. Though I believe the English could be adaquate to refute WORKS/baptism salvation notion. However the Greek does bring out what is already there! Would like to E-mail you. "LOCUST"
@wilby1414, I don't think that you are paying close attention to the entire video. The Greek rule doesn't allow for the doctrine you are going by. You are holding to a doctrine emotionally not rationally, this exegesis is irrefutable and you still are holding to a false teaching.
@epidome You keep the Greek rule, I will follow the teachings of the Apostle Paul and the Doctrine of Christ which is the Doctrine of Salvation.
Jesus commanded baptism into His name! It is the ONLY name under heaven that saves mankind.
Let the Holy Ghost guide you---OH wait! You have to be baptized to receive the Holy Ghost. So get baptized in Jesus name and be converted, regenerate and born again unto LIFE !
Stop trying to out wit the plain scriptures--it is not that difficult to follow
When we are baptized and under the water we are considered to be dead like Jesus.
When we come out of the water we are quickend by the Holy Ghost and made alive a new creature in Christ. It is the Holy Ghost that makes you alive-correct but it is baptism in water that puts us through the new birth process. How can we receive the Holy Ghost first then baptism second NOT possible if you follow a new birth correctly. Having the spirit upon you is not the same as in you.
You are exhalting "symbolism over substance". That's why you are so centered on an "act" of your obedience (water baptism) over the Lord Jesus for your SALVATION. Romans 6 is to encourage christians to NOT walk in sin because we are "dead" with Christ. This is a *SPIRITUAL* truth NOT physical. I am alive, but at the SAME TIME "dead with Christ" can only be realized in the realm of the SPIRIT beyond the flesh and it's activities. There is one Lord, one faith, ONE baptism--SPIRIT baptism saves.
@locustweed YOU ARE JUST PREACHING HAND ME DOWN LIES nothing of what you said follows scripture or truth. Baptism into Jesus name has meaning and purpose.
Talk about twisting scripture to follow a false belief system -- I have heard so many made up salvation messages and all of MUST ignor many scriptures to force their belief system. On the other hand my belief is supported by ALL scriptures.
Hand-me-down lies? I don't even have a "pastor" (paster?) What I said follows Romans 6. If "water" baptism is even hinted at in Romans 6 you must admit what I said is TRUE. The only way to "be dead with Christ" would be to get into a time-machine and travel back to 33 AD and climb up on the cross with Jesus and die WITH HIM there! This is NOT literally possible. The whole thing is a SPIRITUAL TRUTH accomplished by the HOLY SPIRIT at SALVATION when one "BELIEVES" on the LORD JESUS and is saved.
@locustweed Romans6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father (raise by the Father--not by Jesus) Acts19:5 & 6 First baptism into Jesus name then the Holy Ghost
Mark 1:8 "Jesus baptizes" with the HOLY GHOST. John 11:25 "I am the RESURRECTION and THE LIFE.." 1Cor.12:13 "For by ONE SPIRIT are we all baptized into one body.." Christ was raised FROM THE DEAD by the glory of the Father. When Paul "laid his hands on them" . Who do you think baptized them? PAUL. The Holy Ghost baptism happened WHEN laid his hands on them (Jews) "at" baptism. This is not the pattern for GENTILES. Acts 10:46 HOLY GHOST came upon them and spoke tongues BEFORE water baptism
Half-truths always lead to error. Col 2: 9-10 Jesus HAS *ALL* THE FULLNESS OF THE GODHEAD "BODILY" and is "HEAD OF ALL PRINCIPALITY AND POWER". Col 2:11 He (Jesus) circumcisizes believers "with a circumcision MADE WITHOUT HANDS" (SPIRITUAL CIRCUMCISION) Col 2:12 "BURIED WITH HIM" Greek: "SUNTHAPTO" to "assimilate spiritually" "IN BAPTISM" (spiritual) not AFTER water baptism! The "baptism" in Col 2:12 is SPIRITUAL baptism. Like the "spiritual circumcision" it is "MADE WITHOUT HANDS".
@locustweed 1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
Baptism into Jesus name also includes receiving the Holy Spirit. The SAME process applies to ALL! Not one way for the Jews then one for the Gentiles. WE MUST follow Jesus through DEATH, BURIAL & RESURRECTION! Jesus said to follow HIM through the door.
Are YOU a thief & a robber? John 10:1-3 he is calling
There is only ONE baptism (Eph 4:5) that saves--HOLY GHOST BAPTISM. Water baptism is only a visable "symbol" of the TRUE. What you have are TWO BAPTISMS. That does not fit anywhere in God's Word and is a violation of the ONE baptism (HOLY GHOST GOD'S SPIRIT). REPENT! stop adding to God's WORD
@locustweed 1+1=2 yes... read the Bible now... Acts 2:38.. Repent AND be baptized FOR the remission of your sins AND you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit... the promise is for you and for ALL who are afar off... not repent for the remission of your sins and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit and be baptized..
The message was to Jews and "those jews scattered abroad in every nation"-- This was national Jew repentance day. "To the Jew first." Peter said "THEREFORE LET ALLTHE HOUSE OF ISRAEL KNOW ASSUREDLY." Their baptism was because they had "GLADLY RECEIVED HIS WORD"--JESUS CHRIST. Then they were baptized. (eis) means AT, or concerning of, [back] wards, because, NOT in order to. REPENT is a separate action in the FIRST CLAUSE and independant (stands alone). And BE BAPTIZED 2ND CLAUSE VERB plural.
@locustweed Sorry, no. The promise is for you, and your children, and ALLLLLLLL who are afar off.
Eis does not mean backwards. It never has. The Greek in this passage supports "repent and be baptized for the remission of your sins" not repent separated from baptism.
@locustweed "For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself." They did not gladly receive His Word -WITHOUT- baptism. Repentance AND baptism were BOTH for the remission of sins. And repentance is NOT simply belief, check Luke 13:3.
The Greek rule completely shows that our interpretation of Acts 2:38 is correct. You (all) repent, and let every one of you (that repents) be baptized FOR the remission of sins.
@locustweed They did not repent because of remission of sins, nor be baptized because of remission of sins. 1 Pet 3:21 "Baptism now saves you" Gal. 3:27, Eph. 2:10, Mark 16:15-16, Acts 2:38.. Romans 6... Eph 4:4-5.. Col. 2:12, Acts 8:12, 36ff... Acts 10:47-48.. Acts 18:8.. Acts 22:16.. 1 Cor 12:13..
@locustweed There IS one baptism today (Eph. 4:4-5). Do you speak in tongues when you receive that baptism? Not today. The miraculous gifts of the Spirit have ceased, see 1 Cor. 13. The only baptism that has been COMMANDED for US today (Acts 2:38ff) is water baptism, which is how we contact the blood of Christ (Romans 6), and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit at baptism, which is being sealed in the body of Christ for the day of redemption.
Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. (After water baptism in Jesus name)
Acts 8:13 Then Simon believed also: and when he was baptized...16(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost (WHEN? --after water baptism -- NOT before)
These were Samaritans. (Half-jews/gentile offspring.) Peter came having been given the KEYS of the Kingdom by Jesus (Matt.16:18-19) to, "bind on earth and it will be bound in Heaven and "loose on earth it will be loosed in Heaven, the SALVATION of the Samaritans. Again, the Jewish/Gentile nature of the transition AWAY from the NATION ISRAEL, which is coming, whom Paul closed the door to the NATION OF ISRAEL later. Peter was simply doing what Jesus told him to do, witnessed by the Holy Ghost.
@locustweed Col. 2:12... spiritual baptism? Give me a break. You just keep on failing... Acts 10 and 11 show that baptism of the HOLY SPIRIT does NOT SAVE. He spoke "words to you by which you will be saved" but "And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them"-- not as he WAS SPEAKING, he had not yet begun! The words still had yet to be spoken! The baptism of the HS's purpose was NOT salvation but REVELATION. We are baptized BY the Spirit into one body at water baptism.
LOL! you make no sense AT ALL, NIMROD! "As I began to speak" --'not as he was speaking, he had not yet begun'
lol lol lol!!!
"While Peter YET SPAKE (while he was speaking) THESE WORDS, the Holy Ghost fell on all them THAT HEARD THE WORD." (Acts 10:44) i apologize for calling you NIMROD, but if the shoe fits--!!
@locustweed While Peter yet spake, as he was speaking, and as he began to speak.. none of those contradict but the last one explains more what it meant in Acts 10:44.
Only one baptism that saves, you are correct. But Holy Spirit baptism never saved. When it occurred in Acts 10, they still had to be baptized in water for salvation. Now, if water baptism doesn't save, but Holy Spirit baptism does, then explain to me why the men in Acts 2:38ff were not given Spirit baptism!
Are you baptized with the HOLY GHOST or will you be BAPTIZED with FIRE? If you believe water bap. IS THAT ONE BAPTISM, then you are NOT BAPTIZED BY THE SPIRIT INTO CHRIST BODY, FOR THERE IS *ONLY ONE* BAPTISM. Then YOU are outside Christ and NOT saved. Simple deduction. your choice-- have a nice eternity. How do you know they weren't given Holy Spirit baptism Acts 2:38? They "GLADLY RECIEVED HIS WORD". "As many as RECEIVED HIM to THEM gave He power to become the SONS OF GOD." by believing.
@locustweed Acts 2:38... they were baptized in water into the body... I am not outside Christ, I have obeyed His command. How do I know? Because they didn't speak in tongues and it was not said that they received that Holy Spirit baptism.
It says nothing in 1 Cor 12:13 about tongues either. But we MUST ALL be baptized by the Spirit into His Body. If not, you are not saved. But you are wrong about them being baptized into the body by water. There is ONE baptism into the body and it is BY THE SPIRIT not water>>> (1Cor 12:13)
@locustweed Baptism BY the Spirit occurs at water baptism-- Acts 2. Mark 16:16. The times that Baptism OF the Spirit occurred, it was with speaking in tongues. Baptism OF the Spirit does not occur today and was a PROMISE not a COMMAND. Water baptism IS a COMMAND.
@locustweed I am baptized by the Spirit into the body, for there is only ONE baptism, 1 Pet 3:21.. water baptism, and all those who are baptized into Christ have put on Christ, Gal. 3:27. I am IN CHRIST. I am SAVED. You are NOT. Baptism of the Spirit was NEVER for salvation.
Trusting in water baptism is a fatal mistake--If you are trusting Jesus Christ and His shed BLOOD as your atonement, then yes you are saved, but by our own testimony you are not. I will pray for you. There is only ONE SAVIOR and ONE BAPTISM.
@locustweed So was Peter lying when he said "And as I began to speak"? He himself said it was before he had spoken, but he was BEGINNING to speak... the words by which they would be saved were not finished, and not begun yet, when they were baptized with the Holy Spirit. They could not have believed in an unfinished gospel! The baptism of the Holy Spirit was spontaneous, and NEVER for salvation. The baptism BY the Spirit into one body was shown at Pentecost-- Acts 2:47.. added to the church.
@locustweed If we receive the baptism of the Spirit today, then where are the accompanying miracles and signs? You would KNOW when you receive it and it would have VISIBLE signs. There is ONE baptism, Eph. 4:4... 1 Pet. 3:21 shows that it is baptism in WATER.
"For by one Spirit are we ALL BAPTIZED into one BODY, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and we have been ALL made to drink into ONE SPIRIT." (1 Cor 12:13)
If there is only ONE baptism you must choose- water baptism or SPIRIT BAPTISM. 1+1 = 2 ONLY ONE! If it is 'water baptism' then there is NO SPIRIT BAPTISM FOR YOU and you are NOT IN HIS BODY for there is ONLY ONE BAPTISM. If you are not IN Him you are NOT COMPLETE. (not saved/born again) Col. 2:10
@locustweed BY one Spirit are we all baptized into ONE BODY, now look at how that happened on Pentecost.. Acts 2:47 "And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved." Those who were being saved were baptized in water.
Yes, I will choose what Christ COMMANDED, water baptism. Christ PROMISED Spirit baptism to a select few, not all men. Not in the body? I beg to differ... Col. 2:12.. 1 Cor. 12:13... shows baptism puts you into the body.
@locustweed I am born again because I obeyed Jesus' command... "You must be born of water and the Spirit"... I am in Him because I did what He said would save "He who believes AND IS BAPTIZED shall be saved.." I am complete because I have followed the Scriptures "Baptism now saves you" "For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ"
@locustweed YOU must choose... there is ONE baptism for us today, and it is NOT Spirit baptism, otherwise explain to me why you do not speak in tongues? Spirit baptism was NOT for salvation, it was for showing that Jews and Gentiles could be saved, only occurred 2X in Scripture and it did NOT save- otherwise they would not have been baptized in water afterwards..
@locustweed Explain to me how the "one baptism" thing works in Acts 10. Which one of those lasts for us today? Which one was COMMANDED for them to do, FOR salvation?? Baptism of the Spirit? That was a promise, NOT a command. Water baptism is our COMMAND.
@locustweed (Acts 10:44) "WHILE Peter YET SPAKE THESE WORDS, the HOLY GHOST fell on all of them WHICH HEARD the word."
Yes! Now look at a more detailed explanation of the events in Acts 11:15.. "And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as He did upon us at the beginning." NOT the Holy Spirit saved them, but fell upon them. Baptism of the Spirit. It was AS HE BEGAN TO SPEAK, not while he was in the MIDDLE of his speech. While he was speaking = as he began to speak..
@locustweed While Peter was beginning to speak, he was speaking. But he had NOT YET BEGUN, he was merely BEGINNING to speak to them words by which they would be saved. [NOTE: Not give them Spirit baptism by which they would be saved!] The words were CERTAINLY not completed when the Spirit fell on them. AFTER that, he ordered them to be baptized IN WATER. Why?? What was the PURPOSE of water baptism? Salvation.
@locustweed The ONLY reason the Holy Ghost fell upon the Gentiles in that manner was to convince the Jews that Gentiles were allowed to be baptized. Once it was accepted by the Jews that the Gentiles were allowed to be baptized then ALL baptisms were done the same way for all people. First baptism into Jesus name -this process involves the old man/sinful man dying when the person is placed under the water. When the person comes out of the water they are made to drink the spirit & made alive.
"Symbolism over substance" Eph. 1:13 You hear the Gospel, you believe, then you get the Holy Spirit. The reason they were baptized is because they "believed" THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED. They magnified God, and gave witness of their FAITH. The miracle of tongues (they were Italians). Jesus had already commissioned them to GO and TEACH *ALL NATIONS* and baptize them. THEY WERE COMPLETELY ALLOWED BY JESUS TO BE BAPTIZED IF THEY BELIEVE, WITHOUT CONVINCING ANYONE! REPENT stop adding to the Bible.
@locustweed Water baptism is not a symbol of the true.. I do not have two baptisms. The baptism that Jesus spoke of in Mark 16:16 is not Holy Spirit baptism, it is water baptism. Read John 3:3-5... Acts 10 is further explained by Acts 11, he says in Acts 11:4 that he explained IN ORDERLY SEQUENCE, the things that happened. The words by which they would be saved were NOT SPOKEN yet when the Holy Spirit fell on them, Acts 11:15.
The force of this video is to "prove" that you cannot combine baptism and remission of sins. But the argument fails, due to the fact that in the NT Greek, there is no third person singular. The imperative takes only the second person. The Greek rule shows that their argument on the grammar of Acts 2:38 goes down with the rest of this video's sophistry.
clearedtoengage 7 months ago
To all of you that are passionately arguing for baptism being required for salvation I ask you please to first watch this entire video attentively. I know it goes against your grain but if you do this you will save us both and others a lot of time and arguments by first understanding the position of those who do not believe baptism is required for salvation. This video and the response video to it by me together provide a thorough exegetical basis for no requirement of baptism for salvation.
epidome 8 months ago
@epidome I understand your position, and have watched the video. However, I believe that 17 other translators would know more of the Greek. 17 translations render it, in some way or form, repent and be baptized for remission of sins. The Greek rule does not apply here, for the third person refers to the second person plural- it is like a prepositional phrase, in that it explains what else those who repent should do. Each one of those who repent should be baptized.
clearedtoengage 8 months ago
@epidome You argue baptism for salvation because you don't understand the importance of getting baptized. In ALL cases baptism was done and commanded -- NEVER was baptism into Jesus name left out of the salvation process--NEVER! The penalty for sin is death therefore we MUST die. In Romans 6 Paul explains the process quite clearly. Our old man must die--when we are burried in the water we are DEAD with Jesus! Does He leave us dead--NO! When we are raised up we are made to drink the spirit- LIFE!
wilby1414 8 months ago
1 John 5:16
If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
We are born under a curse (the sin of the world -John 1:29) this sin is DEATH and we can NOT pray this curse away--it takes action on our part. Baptism into Jesus Christ remitts this curse of DEATH and when the Holy Ghost enters us we are converted, regenerated & reborn unto LIFE
wilby1414 9 months ago
@wilby1414, this argument holds true if the receiving of the Holy Spirit is after baptism which Scripturally it clearly is not. I don't know if you are aware of Acts (10:44-48) or not or if you have also watch this video entirely and attentively. The Greek Rule doesn't allow for baptism being required for the receiving of the Holy Spirit coupled with Cornelius and the other gentiles with him receiving the Holy Spirit prior to baptism.
epidome 8 months ago
@epidome The receiving of the baptism of the Holy Spirit was a limited occurrence. It was never tied to salvation. If so, show me. Where is the baptism OF the Holy Spirit ever tied to salvation? Paul didn't receive it, in Acts 22:16, because he did not speak in tongues. He instead was baptized in water to wash away his sins. Eph. 4:4 there is ONE baptism. That is the baptism Jesus commanded. The Greek Rule is a fictitious rule, ignoring basic facets of grammar.
clearedtoengage 8 months ago
@epidome Every one of you repent, and let him [that repents] be baptized for remission of sins. Baptism is essential to salvation, for it is obedience, it is how we become slaves of righteousness (Rom. 6:1-3,17-18). Acts 10 clearly shows that the baptism of the Spirit does not save, for they still had to be baptized into water. 1 Pet. 3:21 "Baptism now saves you... not the removing of the filth of the flesh but the PLEDGE of a GOOD CONSCIENCE toward God."
clearedtoengage 8 months ago
@clearedtoengage, you clearly aren't paying attention to the entire video. This video reveals the Greek not the English and the conclusion you are drawing from the English cannot be drawn in Greek. This video is not opinion it is the Greek and what it will and will not allow.
epidome 8 months ago
@epidome I am paying attention to the video. The Greek does support that translation, for there is NO translation that translates it according to your false gospel. It's like what we have in English- dependent clauses and independent clauses. There is no such thing as a rule that makes you unable to combine two clauses that have different number and person.
clearedtoengage 8 months ago
@clearedtoengage, there is such a thing and it is called The Greek Rule and it is not a fabrication of mine. Google it and you will find that it is real and makes you unable to combine clauses that have different number and person. You see this is where the mistake is made, a doctine is generated based on English and then there is refusal to acknowledge Greek if it doesn't fit the doctrine founded in English conclusions. Not only that but there are those who were saved prior to baptism.
epidome 8 months ago
@epidome Not under the new covenant, there aren't. Prove to me examples of this, because I guarantee you I can Biblically show you they were not saved until baptism. The Greek does NOT support breaking the sentences up. All the Greek says is that the first noun is not the same as the second one when two sentences, combined with "kai", have the nouns preceded by English "the". Which is true! "Repent, all of you, and let him [that repents] be baptized"- for without repentance baptism was futile.
clearedtoengage 8 months ago
@epidome Not all of them could be baptized, but only the repentant. This Greek rule you speak of does not say you cannot combine them (making no sense, for the "kai" logical connective was there, so you have two clauses, which cannot be together, yet the Holy Spirit obviously intended them to be connected), merely that the nouns do not refer to the same thing. Again, they do not.
clearedtoengage 8 months ago
@clearedtoengage That is NOT TRUE. There is only "one baptism" that saves. You CANNOT have a singular subject and 'combine' it with a plural verb, The video is correct. Someone who continually 'takes out words' from God's HOLY WRIT are under a curse, and has no business 'playing greek scholar'. The Greek "KAI" does not over-rule the "number, gender, or case" of the subject/verb agreement in the sentance. You are out of your league here. Obey the scriptures. And STOP TAKING GOD'S WORDS OUT!
locustweed 7 months ago
@locustweed You are correct, there is only one baptism that saves. WHICH ONE DID JESUS PREACH? Water baptism. The subject is not 3person it is 2nd. The Greek Grammar states plainly that the Imperative takes only the second person, and that there is no third person singular. Hedley and Allen, Greek Grammar, page 264. Thayers Greek Lexicon, page 192. Liddell and Scott, page 478.
clearedtoengage 7 months ago
@locustweed You are the one who takes out words from God's Word. Acts 2:38 is never translated the way this video advocates. Greek scholars know a lot more about translating than you. You are OUT OF YOUR LEAGUE HERE. OBEY THE SCRIPTURES. Matt. 28:18-20 "baptizing them"- one baptism that saves- the one Jesus preached- Rom 6.
clearedtoengage 7 months ago
@epidome By the way, in the Greek, there is no third person singular. The Greek Grammar states plainly that the Imperative takes only the second person, and that there is no third person singular. Hedley and Allen, Greek Grammar, page 264. Thayers Greek Lexicon, page 192. Liddell and Scott, page 478. Therefore, the clauses can and should, of right, be joined together by "kai", the way the HS intended, and both repentance and baptism therefore are connected to salvation.
clearedtoengage 8 months ago
@epidome As Christians (not any other name), we preach the SAME gospel that Jesus preached (Mark 16:16), Peter preached (Acts 2:38; 10:47-48), Paul preached (Romans 6:3-23; Gal. 3:27; 1 Cor. 12:13), and all faithful obedient servants of our living God preach. Acts 10 CONFIRMS Acts 2, for they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, which does not save. Baptism OF the Holy Spirit and baptism BY the Spirit are two different things. "BY" saves, "OF" doesn't!
clearedtoengage 8 months ago
@clearedtoengage Always perverting the Bible--leaving out GOD'S Words that destroy your bloodless-water-gospel. 1 Peter 3:21 "THE LIKE FIGURE" Baptism is a FIGURE "ANTITUPON"(Greek) "opposing MODEL". A model is an "imitattion of the TRUE". Jesus Christ and His death Burial and Resurrection is the TRUE. Notice folks how this guy ALWAYS "takes away from the WORDS of God". There is a CURSE on those violate this command. REV. 22:19 Have a nice eternity, or repent and trust Jesus alone and live!
locustweed 7 months ago
@locustweed You are a fool. "Antitype" means foreshadowing, not opposing model. You are the one who takes away from the Word of God! There is "one baptism" (Eph. 4:4), the one Jesus preached (Mt. 28:18-20), the one the apostles preached FOR REMISSION OF SINS (Acts 2:38; Rom. 6:4; Acts 22:16; 1 Pet. 3:21). Baptism is a ANTITYPE which now saves us, it does not say that baptism now DOES NOT save you. Baptism is an antitype but baptism still saves THROUGH THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS.
clearedtoengage 7 months ago
@locustweed Bloodless? You fail at understanding the Bible. How do we contact the blood of Christ [only way we can be saved, through His blood- Matt. 26:28]? Romans 6:3 says it is through BAPTISM. Your gospel is bloodless, it is a false gospel perpetuated by those who would not obey the will of God (Matt. 7:21). JESUS SAID, He that believes AND IS BAPTIZED shall be saved. Belief and baptism are both necessary to salvation.
clearedtoengage 7 months ago
@locustweed Antitupon- antitype not opposing model. But baptism saves us THROUGH JESUS CHRIST'S DEATH BURIAL AND RESURRECTION! How can you be so foolish and not comprehend? Without Jesus's death, burial, and resurrection, baptism would mean absolutely nothing! But BECAUSE OF HIS SACRIFICE, BAPTISM NOW SAVES US!
clearedtoengage 7 months ago
@locustweed If faith only saves, then Paul was saved on the road to Damascus, correct? Well, if he was, apparently he sinned more between being saved and being baptized, for Ananias said to "wash away your sins" (Acts 22:16- through baptism). Either that, or maybe baptism really does wash away your sins! Why would the Holy Spirit tell Paul to wash away his sins, and then not tell him how? Baptism is the effectual way through which a man can wash away his sins, and call on the name of the Lord.
clearedtoengage 7 months ago

If it did, there would be no need of water baptism.
clearedtoengage 8 months ago
There are three kinds of faith.

@locustweed ALL true believers were baptized into Jesus Christ.
Believe means to act on His word and He commanded water baptism.
wilby1414 9 months ago
"Believe" according to the GREEK/English textus receptus. " Pisteuo" "to trust in", "to have faith in or upon a person or thing", "to entrust one's hope or spiritual well being in God". I do not know where you got your definition. It sounds like one of those hand-me-down, repeater lies I have heard before.

@locustweed Matt. 7:21 and James 2:14-26 say that FAITH ONLY CANNOT SAVE.
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
Meaning of baptism -- a ceremonial immersion in water, or application of water.
One Baptism that includes the Holy Ghost as taught by the apostles.
Galatians 3:27
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Water baptism into Jesus Christ includes the Holy Ghost (which is Christ)
Matthew 20:23 Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with
Death, Burial & Resurrection --Romans 6
wilby1414 9 months ago
NIce "tradition of men definition" but Galatians 3:27 never says the baptism is 'water'. IT MUST BE SPIRITUAL, because there is only ONE baptism and that of the Spirit. There is no such thing as Jesus "jeans" to put on. This is Spiritual talk . "But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh to fulfil the lust thereof." Simply means to WALK IN THE SPIRIT and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. Gal 5:16
locustweed 9 months ago
@locustweed Eph. 4:4 there is ONE baptism and ONE Spirit, you say that the baptism is Spirit baptism but then Paul is being repetitive to no effect... Gal. 3:27, the baptism is WATER because that is what happened in EVERY case of conversion, Spirit baptism did NOT occur in ANY case of conversion, it occurred SEPARATELY.

locustweed 9 months ago
@clearedtoengage, this passage is speaking of works resulting from salvation not salvation resulting from works! This doesn't make one single work necessary for salvation but results from the voluntary will of a Christian out of gratitude and love for God and the cost of their salvation! You are trying to reverse it and make salvation result from works, it is the exact opposite. Someone can beleive and do no works and be saved! Romans (10:13) and Romans (10:9), Nothing more is required!
epidome 8 months ago

Romans 11 is clearly speaking of the national state of the Jews. cont...
clearedtoengage 8 months ago
@epidome He is here speaking of the same as in Romans 9; the seed of Jesus Christ going through Israel, but as a nation, they rejected Him by crucifying Him. "But by their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles" (Rom. 11:11).
We know that faith without works profits absolutely nothing- if it profited salvation, it would profit much. Without works, faith is dead. Can a dead faith save?

This video is a thorough exegesis with a complimentary video that puts to rest their arguments yet they hold to them.
epidome 8 months ago
@epidome The heart of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the entire New Testament. Mark 16:16 and Matthew 28:18-20 are also parts of the gospel. We do not add things to what is required. We obey the words of Jesus, when He said, "baptizing them... teaching them to observe all that I commanded you..." that includes baptism. Now, without this "one baptism" that Jesus, Paul, and Peter preached, one cannot be saved.

That is OBEDIENCE!!!!
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
1+1= 2
locustweed 9 months ago
@locustweed You are of the devil, you who fail to heed Scripture. I already dealt with that. There is ONLY ONE BAPTISM COMMANDED. You CANNOT obey any command to be baptized in the Spirit, because that is SPONTANEOUS and has NO connection WHATSOEVER with belief, the only baptism that saves and the only baptism that was COMMANDED (Rom 6:17-18) is WATER baptism FOR the remission of sins!!!
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
@locustweed 1+1=2 that is my very argument! ONE baptism!!! That means Acts 10-11 show there was only ONE baptism that was saving! It was NOT both water and Spirit baptism! Baptism BY the Spirit INTO one body is when God adds you to the church WHEN you are baptized IN water FOR remission of sins! Becoming OBEDIENT to Spirit baptism is IMPOSSIBLE! Therefore Romans 6 can ONLY be talking about WATER baptism because SPIRIT baptism NEVER SAVES!!
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
@locustweed Baptism of the Spirit occurred ONLY TWICE without ANY purpose of salvation. First time it occurred was in Acts 2:1-4 to the 12 apostles. They were not said to have been saved by that. Second time it occurred was in Acts 10:44-46, and they were NOT said to have been saved by that, in fact they were STILL commanded to be baptized in water! THIS baptism was NEVER FOR salvation, but it was to show WHO COULD BE SAVED, see Peter's reaction: "Surely no one can refuse the water..."
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
@locustweed In fact, when Spirit baptism occurred in Acts 10, it was BEFORE Peter had spoken the words by which they would be saved! So they COULD NOT have been saved before he had spoken the words, for "And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them" not AFTER he spoke!! They were NOT saved by Spirit baptism!

First water baptism into Jesus Christ then you will receive the free gift of the Holy Ghost
wilby1414 9 months ago
Acts 10-11 actually prove that baptism is for salvation. They received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, but they STILL had to be born of water, as Jesus Himself commanded- you must be born of water AND the Spirit to be in the kingdom, John 3:3-5. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit, both times it occurred, was so both Jews and Gentiles could be saved. See what Peter said about it: "Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?"
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
The WATER of John 3:3-5 is NOT baptism; BUT MEANS "being born of the FLESH"--The word 'baptize is nowhere found in Jesus' discorse with Nicodemus. The womb is a water pouch FILLED WITH WATER during pre-natal stages. Has it ever occured to you that not every place in scripture where WATER is mentioned does not always mean 'baptism'.?? lol lol lol!!!
locustweed 9 months ago
@locustweed You can LOL all you wish but the scriptures are very clear about water baptism. You say you have no pastor but I know that someone has lied to you, you are trying your hardest to support their belief system. The bible is very clear --ALL believers were baptized into Jesus Christ! That is why Paul said how were you baptized since you believed. It was common knowledge that ALL believers were baptized into Jesus Christ-THEN the Holy Ghost was in them -Christ in you is your hope of Glory
wilby1414 9 months ago
Yah, it IS VERY CLEAR. ONE BAPTISM-- NOT 2! -- ONLY ONE SAVES. THOSE JEWS were of John's baptism and had not heard of Christ's death burial and resurrection. GOSPEL They needed to "believe on Jesus", which they did. Upon Paul laying hands on them AT baptism they receievd the Holy Spirit. So who bewitched you? Who is the false teacher you are sitting under teaching you WORKS SALVATION? I stand by the BIBLE, no teacher but the Holy Spirit and the WORD of God-- KJV only.
locustweed 9 months ago
@locustweed Only one baptism saves. Works salvation? It's called OBEDIENCE. Matt. 7:21... Belief without obedience condemns you. KJV only? That is of the devil himself. The Word of God is inspired, not because the translators were inspired, but because of the ORIGINAL WRITERS.
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
@locustweed That is right one baptism in water in Jesus name--this includes the Holy Ghost in the ONE baptism. John's baptism prepared the way for the baptism into Jesus Christ. (water & spirit). This is the ONLY conclusion you can come to unless to have been influenced by a lying preacher. Bpatism is not a big mystery, it is called the milk of the word--meaning simple and easy to understand.
NOW, everyone that was not Jewish is a Gentile. Jews were just one tribe of Israel out of twelve.
wilby1414 9 months ago
1Peter 3:20-21
locustweed 9 months ago
@locustweed I have heard your terminology before: You are a repeater of hand me down lies. Water baptism is a commandment of Christ Himself! Jesus called baptism a righteous act. Meaning to make one right with God. The Holy Ghost fell upon the 120 in the upper room after they were baptized into Jesus Christ, then they waited for the Holy Spirit to fall upon them and it did just as Jesus commanded.
wilby1414 9 months ago
@locustweed John's baptism was to prepare Israel to receive Jesus and HIS baptism as well. In Spirit AND in truth. Anti-type does NOT mean opposite model, but it is the spiritual emphasis of the physical type [the ark]. 1+1=2 NICE TRY, but DO THE MATH, the baptism of the Spirit does NOT save and is NOT commanded and DOES NOT occur today.

@locustweed Sigh... again... you fail to understand. The ark is the type and baptism is the antitype. They were saved by water, the water swept the sinful away... the same as water baptism washes sins away, Acts 22:16. Jesus saves by baptism. Eph 2:8-9, again, FAITH. IS. A. WORK. OF. RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Having the spirit upon you is not the same as in you.
wilby1414 9 months ago
You are exhalting "symbolism over substance". That's why you are so centered on an "act" of your obedience (water baptism) over the Lord Jesus for your SALVATION. Romans 6 is to encourage christians to NOT walk in sin because we are "dead" with Christ. This is a *SPIRITUAL* truth NOT physical. I am alive, but at the SAME TIME "dead with Christ" can only be realized in the realm of the SPIRIT beyond the flesh and it's activities. There is one Lord, one faith, ONE baptism--SPIRIT baptism saves.
locustweed 9 months ago
@locustweed YOU ARE JUST PREACHING HAND ME DOWN LIES nothing of what you said follows scripture or truth. Baptism into Jesus name has meaning and purpose.
Talk about twisting scripture to follow a false belief system -- I have heard so many made up salvation messages and all of MUST ignor many scriptures to force their belief system. On the other hand my belief is supported by ALL scriptures.
Follow Christ or follow your lying paster!
wilby1414 9 months ago

4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father (raise by the Father--not by Jesus) Acts19:5 & 6 First baptism into Jesus name then the Holy Ghost
wilby1414 9 months ago
Mark 1:8 "Jesus baptizes" with the HOLY GHOST. John 11:25 "I am the RESURRECTION and THE LIFE.." 1Cor.12:13 "For by ONE SPIRIT are we all baptized into one body.." Christ was raised FROM THE DEAD by the glory of the Father. When Paul "laid his hands on them" . Who do you think baptized them? PAUL. The Holy Ghost baptism happened WHEN laid his hands on them (Jews) "at" baptism. This is not the pattern for GENTILES. Acts 10:46 HOLY GHOST came upon them and spoke tongues BEFORE water baptism
locustweed 9 months ago
Like the "spiritual circumcision" it is "MADE WITHOUT HANDS".
locustweed 9 months ago
@locustweed 1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
Baptism into Jesus name also includes receiving the Holy Spirit. The SAME process applies to ALL! Not one way for the Jews then one for the Gentiles. WE MUST follow Jesus through DEATH, BURIAL & RESURRECTION! Jesus said to follow HIM through the door.
Are YOU a thief & a robber? John 10:1-3 he is calling
wilby1414 9 months ago
There is only ONE baptism (Eph 4:5) that saves--HOLY GHOST BAPTISM. Water baptism is only a visable "symbol" of the TRUE. What you have are TWO BAPTISMS. That does not fit anywhere in God's Word and is a violation of the ONE baptism (HOLY GHOST GOD'S SPIRIT). REPENT! stop adding to God's WORD
locustweed 9 months ago
@locustweed There is only one baptism and that is in water in Jesus name that includes the infilling of the Holy Ghost.
Romans 6
Good bye

1+1=2 REPENT
locustweed 9 months ago
@locustweed 1+1=2 yes... read the Bible now... Acts 2:38.. Repent AND be baptized FOR the remission of your sins AND you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit... the promise is for you and for ALL who are afar off... not repent for the remission of your sins and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit and be baptized..
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
The message was to Jews and "those jews scattered abroad in every nation"-- This was national Jew repentance day. "To the Jew first." Peter said "THEREFORE LET ALLTHE HOUSE OF ISRAEL KNOW ASSUREDLY." Their baptism was because they had "GLADLY RECEIVED HIS WORD"--JESUS CHRIST. Then they were baptized. (eis) means AT, or concerning of, [back] wards, because, NOT in order to. REPENT is a separate action in the FIRST CLAUSE and independant (stands alone). And BE BAPTIZED 2ND CLAUSE VERB plural.
locustweed 9 months ago
@locustweed Sorry, no. The promise is for you, and your children, and ALLLLLLLL who are afar off.
Eis does not mean backwards. It never has. The Greek in this passage supports "repent and be baptized for the remission of your sins" not repent separated from baptism.
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
@locustweed "For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself." They did not gladly receive His Word -WITHOUT- baptism. Repentance AND baptism were BOTH for the remission of sins. And repentance is NOT simply belief, check Luke 13:3.
The Greek rule completely shows that our interpretation of Acts 2:38 is correct. You (all) repent, and let every one of you (that repents) be baptized FOR the remission of sins.
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
@locustweed They did not repent because of remission of sins, nor be baptized because of remission of sins. 1 Pet 3:21 "Baptism now saves you" Gal. 3:27, Eph. 2:10, Mark 16:15-16, Acts 2:38.. Romans 6... Eph 4:4-5.. Col. 2:12, Acts 8:12, 36ff... Acts 10:47-48.. Acts 18:8.. Acts 22:16.. 1 Cor 12:13..
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
@locustweed There IS one baptism today (Eph. 4:4-5). Do you speak in tongues when you receive that baptism? Not today. The miraculous gifts of the Spirit have ceased, see 1 Cor. 13. The only baptism that has been COMMANDED for US today (Acts 2:38ff) is water baptism, which is how we contact the blood of Christ (Romans 6), and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit at baptism, which is being sealed in the body of Christ for the day of redemption.
clearedtoengage 9 months ago

Peter was simply doing what Jesus told him to do, witnessed by the Holy Ghost.
locustweed 9 months ago
@locustweed Um, you make no sense. Acts 2 is for ALL WHO ARE AFAR OFF not just Jews.
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
@locustweed Col. 2:12... spiritual baptism? Give me a break. You just keep on failing... Acts 10 and 11 show that baptism of the HOLY SPIRIT does NOT SAVE. He spoke "words to you by which you will be saved" but "And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them"-- not as he WAS SPEAKING, he had not yet begun! The words still had yet to be spoken! The baptism of the HS's purpose was NOT salvation but REVELATION. We are baptized BY the Spirit into one body at water baptism.
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
LOL! you make no sense AT ALL, NIMROD! "As I began to speak" --'not as he was speaking, he had not yet begun'
lol lol lol!!!
"While Peter YET SPAKE (while he was speaking) THESE WORDS, the Holy Ghost fell on all them THAT HEARD THE WORD." (Acts 10:44) i apologize for calling you NIMROD, but if the shoe fits--!!
locustweed 9 months ago
@locustweed While Peter yet spake, as he was speaking, and as he began to speak.. none of those contradict but the last one explains more what it meant in Acts 10:44.
Only one baptism that saves, you are correct. But Holy Spirit baptism never saved. When it occurred in Acts 10, they still had to be baptized in water for salvation. Now, if water baptism doesn't save, but Holy Spirit baptism does, then explain to me why the men in Acts 2:38ff were not given Spirit baptism!
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
"As many as RECEIVED HIM to THEM gave He power to become the SONS OF GOD." by believing.
locustweed 9 months ago
@locustweed Acts 2:38... they were baptized in water into the body... I am not outside Christ, I have obeyed His command. How do I know? Because they didn't speak in tongues and it was not said that they received that Holy Spirit baptism.
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
It says nothing in 1 Cor 12:13 about tongues either. But we MUST ALL be baptized by the Spirit into His Body. If not, you are not saved. But you are wrong about them being baptized into the body by water. There is ONE baptism into the body and it is BY THE SPIRIT not water>>> (1Cor 12:13)
locustweed 9 months ago
@locustweed Baptism BY the Spirit occurs at water baptism-- Acts 2. Mark 16:16. The times that Baptism OF the Spirit occurred, it was with speaking in tongues. Baptism OF the Spirit does not occur today and was a PROMISE not a COMMAND. Water baptism IS a COMMAND.
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
@locustweed 1 Cor. 12:13 is baptism BY the Spirit INTO one body, which occurs at water baptism, see ACTS 2.
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
ONLY one BAPTISM 1+1= 2 DO the MATH-- end of discussion.
locustweed 9 months ago
@locustweed I am baptized by the Spirit into the body, for there is only ONE baptism, 1 Pet 3:21.. water baptism, and all those who are baptized into Christ have put on Christ, Gal. 3:27. I am IN CHRIST. I am SAVED. You are NOT. Baptism of the Spirit was NEVER for salvation.
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
Trusting in water baptism is a fatal mistake--If you are trusting Jesus Christ and His shed BLOOD as your atonement, then yes you are saved, but by our own testimony you are not. I will pray for you. There is only ONE SAVIOR and ONE BAPTISM.
locustweed 9 months ago
@locustweed So was Peter lying when he said "And as I began to speak"? He himself said it was before he had spoken, but he was BEGINNING to speak... the words by which they would be saved were not finished, and not begun yet, when they were baptized with the Holy Spirit. They could not have believed in an unfinished gospel! The baptism of the Holy Spirit was spontaneous, and NEVER for salvation. The baptism BY the Spirit into one body was shown at Pentecost-- Acts 2:47.. added to the church.

Is there something wrong with you?
(Acts 10:44) "WHILE Peter YET SPAKE THESE WORDS, the HOLY GHOST fell on all of them WHICH HEARD the word." YOU ARE IN DENIAL! REPENT.
locustweed 9 months ago
@locustweed If we receive the baptism of the Spirit today, then where are the accompanying miracles and signs? You would KNOW when you receive it and it would have VISIBLE signs. There is ONE baptism, Eph. 4:4... 1 Pet. 3:21 shows that it is baptism in WATER.
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
locustweed 9 months ago
@locustweed BY one Spirit are we all baptized into ONE BODY, now look at how that happened on Pentecost.. Acts 2:47 "And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved." Those who were being saved were baptized in water.
Yes, I will choose what Christ COMMANDED, water baptism. Christ PROMISED Spirit baptism to a select few, not all men. Not in the body? I beg to differ... Col. 2:12.. 1 Cor. 12:13... shows baptism puts you into the body.
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
@locustweed I am born again because I obeyed Jesus' command... "You must be born of water and the Spirit"... I am in Him because I did what He said would save "He who believes AND IS BAPTIZED shall be saved.." I am complete because I have followed the Scriptures "Baptism now saves you" "For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ"
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
@locustweed YOU must choose... there is ONE baptism for us today, and it is NOT Spirit baptism, otherwise explain to me why you do not speak in tongues? Spirit baptism was NOT for salvation, it was for showing that Jews and Gentiles could be saved, only occurred 2X in Scripture and it did NOT save- otherwise they would not have been baptized in water afterwards..
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
@locustweed Explain to me how the "one baptism" thing works in Acts 10. Which one of those lasts for us today? Which one was COMMANDED for them to do, FOR salvation?? Baptism of the Spirit? That was a promise, NOT a command. Water baptism is our COMMAND.
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
@locustweed (Acts 10:44) "WHILE Peter YET SPAKE THESE WORDS, the HOLY GHOST fell on all of them WHICH HEARD the word."
Yes! Now look at a more detailed explanation of the events in Acts 11:15.. "And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as He did upon us at the beginning." NOT the Holy Spirit saved them, but fell upon them. Baptism of the Spirit. It was AS HE BEGAN TO SPEAK, not while he was in the MIDDLE of his speech. While he was speaking = as he began to speak..
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
@locustweed While Peter was beginning to speak, he was speaking. But he had NOT YET BEGUN, he was merely BEGINNING to speak to them words by which they would be saved. [NOTE: Not give them Spirit baptism by which they would be saved!] The words were CERTAINLY not completed when the Spirit fell on them. AFTER that, he ordered them to be baptized IN WATER. Why?? What was the PURPOSE of water baptism? Salvation.
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
@locustweed The ONLY reason the Holy Ghost fell upon the Gentiles in that manner was to convince the Jews that Gentiles were allowed to be baptized. Once it was accepted by the Jews that the Gentiles were allowed to be baptized then ALL baptisms were done the same way for all people. First baptism into Jesus name -this process involves the old man/sinful man dying when the person is placed under the water. When the person comes out of the water they are made to drink the spirit & made alive.
wilby1414 9 months ago
REPENT stop adding to the Bible.
locustweed 9 months ago
@locustweed Nope. Sorry. Holy Spirit baptism never saved. The only baptism that is said to save is water baptism, re 1 Pet. 3:21.
clearedtoengage 9 months ago
@locustweed Water baptism is not a symbol of the true.. I do not have two baptisms. The baptism that Jesus spoke of in Mark 16:16 is not Holy Spirit baptism, it is water baptism. Read John 3:3-5... Acts 10 is further explained by Acts 11, he says in Acts 11:4 that he explained IN ORDERLY SEQUENCE, the things that happened. The words by which they would be saved were NOT SPOKEN yet when the Holy Spirit fell on them, Acts 11:15.
