  • half moon nails i like it gorgeous

  • love this .I need to find clear reinforcements

  • Love this! Gonna try it for when I go out this weekend.

  • GREAT VIDEO!! I A MAD ABOUT THE 30'S, 20'S AND 40'S!! WELL DONE!!

  • I just used this tip!!! My nails look great - THANK YOU.

  • That such a good trick i've been trying to get my nails like that and I can never achieve anything as good as what you did. Great Idea, thanks for putting it out there! Im definitely trying it.

  • Very pretty!!

  • Nice job! I think they call this the Gatsby nail.

  • Look beautiful!!! Black and Silver are my favorite.

  • Oh so nice. Where can I get the round thingies? LOL

    Otherwise the nails looks awesome!

  • @estherni1 idk, stationary shops?

  • I think I'm going to try the clear ones! I used the paper ones and they left adhesive on my moons! Good to know also I should take them off right away!

  • Nice! And so simple

  • this is awesome! I love your videos!

  • I didn't know about this actually! When I used to get my nails done all the time, acryllic and gel's I used to ask for my nails one colour, usually purple or green and then I'd have them do al my tips black or silver. I have very short nails and I have a hard time doing my own tips, but sometimes I will still attempt to do them... not very successfully mind you but I try :)

  • Nice job, gonna try this!! Thanks :)

  • Thanks for sharing... I love the idea of using the clear reinforcements.... Awesome tutorial =)

  • @VanillaDolphinz They're much thinner and stickier so you can get nice clean lines right up to the edges of the nail. :)

  • soooooo trying this :) thanks heather! x

  • @WithLoveFromKay Yay! Thank you for watching! :)

  • So cute!

  • @jaleanicole Thank you! :)

  • Your nail tutorials are fantastic. Straight forward and simple. I love seeing your videos come up in my subscription box. You're such a delight to watch. <3

  • @lolliepopxstars Thank you so much!! :)

  • I love your nail tutorials!!! ;-)

  • @karenkupkake Thank you Karen! <3

  • Again, again:D

I love the way you describe it

  • @InLoveWithDesign Haha! Thank you! :)

  • It's hard for me to freehand this because I don't have half moons! My nails are all one colour. I've tried this technique and it is awesome.

  • @missivonmcgowan I actually noticed a few weeks ago that most people only have half-moons on their thumbs, but for some odd reason I have them on all fingers. :O

  • @sokolum79 Actually everyone has the halfmoon on all fingers but it's more obvious on the thumb for most. Some people can see them clearly on all the fingers, and you seem to be one of the few :-)

  • @sokolum79 !!! If I shove back my cuticles I have them on my thumbs. Hmmm. Maybe the others are just hiding further back. Ha.

  • @sokolum79 I only have a half moon showing on my thumb, but on the plus side, the tips of my nails, when they get long enough, are VERy white, so i really don't have to do a french manicure! :)

  • H-hey! You did it! :D Thaaankk yoouuu.

  • @ClearlyItsDyllon I finally have more time to record videos. :)

  • nice

  • @shell1328 Thank you. :)

  • very cool design :)

  • @fictionwriter04 Thank you! :)

  • like this tut, whats your opinion on gel/acrylic nails? thanks for your response ;)

  • @rox0459 I used to wear gel and acrylic nails for a few years. I still like the look of them, but I felt they were too high maintenance (they would chip occasionally or my nail would separate from the gel/acrylic). Plus I am not a fan of polish on long nails, just my preference, and I like to paint my nails often. :)

  • Very cool! Love your nail tutorials! I must give this a try :)

  • @1971browneyes Thank you! :)

  • I've done this design before but I free handed it...never thought of using those "paper butt-holes"....freaking GENIUS!!!!

  • @Guyt0n They did by hand originally, but they painted the whole nail and then removed the moon. :)

  • I've always wondered how to do the half moon technique. I thought it would be much more difficult than that! Thanks for the tutorial!

This manicure would look really awesome with a matte top coat, too.

  • @ammesss Usually they would paint the whole nail and then remove the moon and nail tip. Good idea, maybe I will do the matte top coat tomorrow! :)

  • @PoshPatootie It totally is! :)

  • Looks like I've got something to do tomorrow! :)

  • @Neequu78 Yah! Do it! :)

  • way cool. Green and blue for me.

  • @starfish628 What a fantastic colour combination!

  • Love it!! THank you!

  • @Caralindagirl Thank you for watching! :)

  • Soo pretty! I'm going to try it with pink and black!

  • @xconfettie That would be an awesome combination!

  • omg how cool is that...i have to pass on the knowledge to my friends who love painting thier own nails, thanks you cool chic!

  • @PinkGlitteryStars Haha! Thank you. :)

  • this is a great idea! i never even thought of that. great job!

  • @hfergo1103 Thank you! I've heard of the reinforcements for this manicure before, but I specifically looked for clear ones after I found the paper ones ineffective.

  • OH MY BUDDHA! Please do my nails like that when you come over ok?

  • @jeanfrancoiscd I will fosho JF, I have two manicures on my list for you. :)

  • This is so cute looking and easy too!!

  • @linds1986 Thank you Linds! It is pretty basic. :)

  • Cut the reinforcements in half so you don't have to use so many of them!

    That's what I do

    =)

  • @mafortig I actually did half way through my first hand. :D

  • I remember in the 70's when I started wearing nail polish my mom telling me how when she was my age all the girls did not paint the moons. I remember thinking at the time "how odd" but fashion does go round and round! Here it is again :). I'll have to show mom!

  • @cheriatthe2ndhalf I thought it was odd when I first heard of it too! :D

  • Using the reinforcements is pure genius! I'm definitely going to try this now!!! =)

  • @UnIqUeLyKeya Particularly the plastic/clear ones. I found the paper ones to be too thick and not sticky enough to really adhere to the edges. :)

  • I need this!

    Thank you sooo much ♥

  • @AvriLavigneAbbey And thank you for watching! :)

  • Cute! I'm going to try it when I have time. Those sally hansen polishes are so opaque I find that they sometimes get goopy though ;'(

  • @makeuptemptations That is actually what I love about them. Goopy polishes seem to chip less. :)

  • Wow, I never even thought of if they painted their nails back then. Cool. :)

  • @aylish11 It surprised me too that they used black and silver, which means that I could probably survive back then. :D

  • Did you make this video before or AFTER you burned the toast?!

That is what Nemo wants to know.

  • @shaderfx Before I burnt the toast. :D

  • Nice little history tour, I enjoyed this a lot! Thanks!!

  • @mjgremlin Haha! I loved learning about the beauty routines of the various decades. :)

  • @sokolum79 Well, please don't stop doing it, it makes makeup videos more interesting and less alike :-))

  • Super pretty!

  • @sweetcharade518 Thank you! :)

  • lovely look i need to try this :o)

  • @cardingsan Yah, do it! Thank you! :)

  • You make the best nail tutorials. I have favorited most of them lol. They are soo cool and easy to follow. Thanks! :)

  • @DemonessOfPassion Awww, thank you so much! I am flattered! I actually have a hard time finding nail art that I like. There are a lot of kitsch designs out there.

  • Wow simple and brilliant. Always wanted to do my nails that way but have the steadiness of a monkey lol reinforcements!! I'm going to do pink under red first! Ty Ty Ty!

  • @nakiestona Try it! That would be a great colour combo. It's an eye catching manicure.

  • Astute ! (and the black is absolutly amazing !)

  • @Ellana7125 This is my 3rd bottle of this polish! I've heard that people think it's too goopy or takes too long to dry, but I love the opaqueness and the long lasting power. I really hope they don't change the formula. :)

  • Cute! I'm gonna try that. :)

  • @KokoGigglesLots Do it! ;)

  • @SarahPoundCake Thank you. :)

  • Excellent tutorial. You make it look so easy. I wonder if people in the 1930s also used stencils or if they just painted the half-moon.

  • @oshinsr I think they actually painted the whole nail and then removed polish on the moon (usually leaving it bare). I know they removed polish on the tips for practical reasons, so the polish wouldn't chip as easily.

  • So cute i like it (=

  • @lolita3058 Thank you. :)

  • @sokolum79 ur welcome <3 =D

  • Definitely going to try this! Thank you!!

  • @AliciaD372 Awesome! Let me know how it works out. :)

  • @AliciaD372 I agree...this is going to be my next nail look also :0)

  • definitely trying this :)

  • @montrealmakeup Yah! Let me know how it goes. :)
