Certainly one of my very favorite renditions of this great song. What I like to do is listen to this version, and then listen to a quiet version done with large chorus. :)
I love it when the Moodies sing Christmas songs. Somehow, the Moody Blues and Christmas seem to go together. I'd like to see them release an album of traditional Christmas carols, especially the one called "O Holy Night." Now THAT would really make my Christmas for me. Thanks, redbaron. And Merry Christmas!
I love the December album. one of the BEST Christmas albums ever. I'm not a big Christmas Music lover. but these songs are awesome. makes one wonder why more people dont write songs like this for Christmas albums. Oh wait! thats right NO ONE can write music like the Moody blues.
Actually, "In the Bleak Midwinter" was written by Christina Rossetti during the mid-19th Century and sung since 1906 when it was set to music in The English Hymnal. (Wikipedia, 2009); it may not be the most popular of seasonal hymns, even among church-goers, like ie. Away in A Manger, Silent Night, etc. but it is a personal favourite of mine! Cheers!

@Numberofperfection "In the Bleak Midwinter" is a Christmas carol based on a poem by the English poet Christina Rossetti written before 1872 in response to a request from the magazine Scribner's Monthly for a Christmas poem.
.
It was published posthumously in Rossetti's Poetic Works in 1904 and became a Christmas carol after it appeared in The English Hymnal in 1906 with a setting by Holst.

I love the Moody Blues too. But the music is from Gustav Holst and the words by Christina Rossetti.

Bloody Moos have some really good original stuff. Unfortunately there are many artists that preceded them with better versions of this song.
