Hi, I just got my transmission rebuilt and I took it out for a drive for about 20 miles. I started going up a hill and the transmission gave out and stayed stuck on 2nd gear and the car would not move. I had to turn the car off for about 10 minutes and then restarted and then it changed gears well. Do you think the person who rebuilt my transmission messed up somewhere or forgot to install a piece?
hey man i got a jeep 96 grand cherokee, i plugged it into the computer and it tells me it needs a throttle position sensor and a speed sensor. i replace the TPS from the transmition and the transmition still pulls. the speed sensor i can't find it anywhere? any ideas? thanks
@richpin06a Well that my friend is exacly how much I saved by using your instructional video, Thank you very much I bought this vehicle with this problem and I took a chance when I did, I was concerned because I didnt know how much money it was going to be anyway Thanks again God bless!
HOLA YO TENGO UN GRAN CHEROKEE Y CUANDO ESTA FRIO LA TRANSMISCION TRABAJA BIEN PERO EN CUANTO CALIENTA SE NEUTRALISA COMO SI NO TUBIERA ASEITE LA TRANSMICION SERA EL SELENOIDE CUALQUIER CONSEJO SE LOS AGRADESERE MUCHO
I just purchased a 95 jeep laredo, ran fine to test drive, first day i own it the trans goes berserk. I was driving along about 50mph and it suddenly freaks out and drops to 1st gear, then to every gear inbetween for like 3 seconds till I let off the gas. then a few miles later, it does it again. engine speed shoots to 5,000 RPM then jumps back to a higher gear. I'm getting no O/D error code, I have no idea whats wrong, any ideas?
@richpin06a - well it's been about a month of perfectly smooth trouble free shifting, but in the last couple days it has started *sometimes* the same symptoms as before - requiring a tap into neutral and back in order to upshift from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3. 3+ and downshifts ok.
Still no trouble codes from the OD light but the light does work. Shifting manually from 1 to 2 works, but 2 to D leaves it in 2 until tap to neutral. Still feels like electronics as trans is otherwise smooth and quiet.
hello i have a question about this, i have a 97 grand cherokee and when i put it in reverse my truck shuts off and it turns the gas tank light on even though i have enough gas in the tank, some one told me that it could be the transmission is this a posible problem?
@richpin06a Hey Rich, I own a 97 Grand Cherokee. My trans will normally shift from 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th if I accelerate at a moderate speed and keep the rpm below 2,000. But if I accelerate too fast, and above 2,000rpm, it slips when attempting to shift into 3rd. I have to let off the gas and allow for it to grab. The OBDII tool displayed no codes. Could it still be the Gov Pressure sensors even though no codes were displayed. I hear maybe even the TPS could be the culprit. But again, no code.
I have a 1990 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 automatic that had never been washed. I took a pressure washer to the engine/undercarriage/interior and now it won't shift until it hits 4500 rpm and dies when you let off the gas. I checked for vacuum leaks (thinking I blew a hose off with the water) and found several that I then fixed but it still does it. No clue what to look for next and it ran fine before I washed it. Anyone have any ideas?
how different is my 98 jeep grand cherokee larado is from this jeep mine takes a little long to shift to 1st and 2nd gear when driving in slow traffic but if im at the light and i give it a nice amount of gas it shift fine? and can you tell me or make a video about 98 zj transfer case mine knock only when i put it in reverse i think its the transfer case chain but the tranny shift fine in to gear, reverse , drive all that no delay at all damn i wish i could drive to you ill pay you im in nyc
Don't know yet if this set of parts is my problem, but these are definitely my symptoms, and I've already done everything else right down to adjusting the bands with no luck... Can't wait to give this a try. I will be very very happy if I don't have to change the trans.
Amendment: Borg Warner now has an updated version of the pressure solenoid out (it corrects a lot of the problems you get with the stock one, and its cheaper) - its part number is 50185. Transtar Industries has them for 40.00 bucks, part number #12432A
Great video...looked at this and replaced the pressure solenoid and sensor on my
1996 Grand Cherokee two days ago...shifts like a dream...170k on this transmission.
Symptoms were hard shifting from 2 to 3 and not being able to shift out of 2. This did not exhibit any trouble codes that I could retrieve. Symptoms would not appear until about 10 min after start up. Saved hundreds if not thousands.
again....I spent $170 on parts at the dealer and the sensor had a 4 pin connector.
I change the senors like on the video and my truck is working. The problem I was having with my transmission was it didn't come out off 1 gear, and I had to turn it off and turn it back on ; I did that like four or five times to take it off first gear . When I did that it uesd to start in 3rd gear and I was good to go to work. Also when it didn't have gas I couldn't take it off first gear. I had to go put like $10 of gas then do that turn on and turn off magic trick. Thanks Rich P1756

Hey , I got p0135 02sensor (heat) p0302 miss fire cylinder 2 and for the transmission I got P1757,p1762,and p1756. I know what a mess but do you think if I replace those sensor like on your video my problems will go away? The problem I am having with my 2002 Jeep cherockee limted is that sometimes it will not come out of first gear and it feels like is in 4WD . I just shift the 4WD all the way down and then all the way up.
Thank you so much for this video. Im going to do mine tomorrow, it has the same exact problem. would the procedure be similar for a 2000 grand cherokee laredo? thanks
I have a 1996 jeep grand cherokee , I have a problem with the transmission shifting in reverse grinding noise and hard to put in reverse any ideas with this simtom, looks like need some adjust or something will be nice if you help me out with this thanks
Thanks for the very informative videos.Watched all your Jeep videos since I own a GC Laredo '95. Very helpful. Hope you can do more under chassis videos.
i have the same year model jeep and my tranny is doing the exact same thing, however my od light won't even turn on even if i press the button. and it also drives if od was off but the light is not on. but i'm going to try the same thing, hopefully it'll fix it.
I am having the same problem with my 2000 Jeep Grand-Cherokee, not shifting right and slow after I stop.
Do I have to replace the same part or is it different on my vehicle? another thing, what kind of trans fluid does it take? oh and by the way, I have code P1756.
Yeah I think they messed up on your tranny, they didn't change the pressure sensor.

Continued from previous two posts.
Left battery cable off for almost two hours. Test drive same symptoms as before, intermittent. Sometimes will shift normally, sometimes no.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions.
Thanks again.

Cont from previous post...
I currently have the neg battery cable disconnected to see if that resets anything. I'll know in a little while if that helped at all.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time richpin06a and thanks again for the video, I know we're on the right track with this.

@leonanim no i do not. one was a dealer part the other was a napa part.

@leonanim 96 + solenoid #4617210 - sensor (3 pin / gold 96-99) #56021403AA OR (4 pin / black, 2000+) # 56028196AD
many online retailers have these parts a lot cheaper (60+ per set)
