This was cool in the eighties. It's nice that the guitar community is supporting a player in need. Neil Peart drums, Linus of Hollywood on bass perhaps, that would have made this song contemporary.

I don't mean electronic effects, but musical effects, like the 'wh.bar sky diving'. Also 30 years ago, this kind of licks weren't new. Much goes back even to Hendrix, and the most of it to the end '70-s, begin '80-s hardrock scene. Don't get me wrong, I think Satriani is a good player, but it always annoys me when fans call their hero 'best guitarist'. Nobody is. The diversity among players is simply too big for that. And I really think there's quite a bunch out there as good as him, or better.

Yes, I've hears about respect, and I don't lack it. What I said (cliché licks and so on) is about this video and not about S. in general. Further, what is disrespectful about having an opinion? I wouldn't say S. shows the best he can in this video and there's a multitude of players who can play this. And I readily agree, that's certainly not true for Joe in general.

Concerning 'technical players', my opinion is , that technical skill is not the most important aspect of a great player.

@Peter Laman. You ever heard of respect chump? Holdsworth is awesome yes, so is Joe. Satriani along with Holdsworth are among some of the most technical players on the planet. Remember just because Joe doesn't play something doesn't mean he can't. Look at Zakk, Jack of ALL Trades, just because he doesn't record it doesnt mean he can't do it. Grow up chump.

@PeterLaman What effects are you talking about? He didn't use anything for this song except a few pinch harmonics. As far as this being cliché, this came out almost 30 years ago, so I would say that cliché is from everyone else doing what this man has done.
