    Your video's awesome, I find it really hard to roll the egg without using a rubber spatula, it always tears on me :(

    But I've been making tamago gohan for the past few days and I just really wanted a change so I made tamagoyaki today xD

  • You can actually put soysauce on AFTER you're done making it. Also, another tip, is to leave the egg a bit raw before you roll it up because the heat will cook the rest of it while you roll it up with more layers

  • Tamagoyaki shouldnt be like this..... dashi is missing.

    you need to mix eggs with same volume of Dashi, fish and kelp stock.

    If it is difficult to get dashi, you can put any soup stock instead.

    Also, it looks like your heat might be up too high. You shouldn't be getting the browning like that and it should all hold together.

  • Tamagoyaki is tasty, but a lot of these commenters are right, you shouldn't let the eggs set that much before rolling. The cross-section should be a more uniform yellow. Try taking the heat of the stove down by a notch or two, and you should start getting the more traditional looking yellow with darker yellow rolls. :)

  • Ghetto brush is awesome, but...

    This video made me facepalm. When you make it you roll it towards you, then move it to the back of the pan. Also, when you pour more egg mixture you lift up the pre-rolled partially-cooked egg so it gets underneath it. That way the eggs will cook together. As I said, ghetto brush isawesome, but the video all-in-all gets a face-palm from me. I still like it though. It was informative, overall.

  • Please don't use La Choy..it's not real soy sauce. It's mostly chemicals and tastes AWFUL!  You should use Kikkoman.

  • @ehgz1 I have used La Choy as my soy sauce for a long time. When I tried Kikkoman because the store I had didn't have La Choy, I hated it and gave it away. Is Kikkoman more what actual soy sauce actually tastes like?

  • I uhm... tried to make this. I couldn't get the egg to roll so it looked like crap, but it does taste delicious!

    Add a slight bit of Dashi stock to make it taste even better. (make dashi stock by dissolving granulated dashi in a bit of water)

  • it would probably be easier to do it in a square pan, watch one of the videos where it isnt just pictures and it will probably help more ^^

    There isn't one person who got it on there first try.

    As long as you can practice and never give up, you'll get it.

    You at least got the basic's down.

    All you reallly have to work on it is not burning it.

    Who cares if you didn't do so great, you'll improve. I'd also recommend a rectangular pan, it's much easier to work with. ^^
