Hmm bummer dude. That might have happened due to playing around if the Operating Systems. Acers have an internal recovery program. Unless you overwrote the partition containing the recovery files, you should be fine. (this should be the case) But mind you, when you recover, you will lose all personal information you once had on the laptop. Including programs, school projects, and pictures. Make sure you have that backed up somewhere before recovery (aka. reformating the HD). Good luck.

Use Wubi. You don't have to make a partition or bootable flash drive. Just download the program and run it, set up your password and username to log into Ubuntu. The program will automatically download the ISO image. When it's done, reboot your netbook and you should have an option to boot, Windows XP or Ubuntu, choose Ubuntu. That's it!

Guys use external CD drive to install XP Pro. I did 100% works fine on my Acer One Laptop. On start up press/click F2 change the boot setting to CD drive and then press/click the F10 and save & exit. Once it boots again press/click the F12 and SELECT the CD drive make sure you have the XP in the drive before you do that o.k good luck :-)

Though doesn't the Aspire One have an SSD? Should be able to boot Jaunty Jackalope in 15-20 seconds. If you don't mind a bit of tweaking the Moblin Project (v2 alpha) will have you booted in a matter of seconds on a Fedora Linux Xfce environment, intel optimized.

All from what i hear fairly stable in terms of being used.

The Aspire one can have either a SSD or a HDD.
