As someone who thinks Glee is a terribly written show, this cover is actually good. Other songs I've heard covered by the show I've hated because they didn't respect the original song very much but this is actually very well done.

Glee don't kill every song! They only kill songs they are modifing too much. I can recognize Losing My Religion and sing over this cover, so I'll say it's a good cover.
I don't really like Glee, but this is a damn good cover. One of the best out there, actually. And the way I see it, if you say that a cover "ruined a song," you didn't really like that song enough to begin with. NOTHING should be able to ruin one of your favorites.

I don't like to compare Glee covers to the original songs. You have to appreciate them for what they are. And I absolutely love this cover. Cory's voice is great for this song, and in the episode he pours so much emotion into his performance. You have to recognize that songs done on Glee are covers. They are not going to be carbon copies of the original. Get over it and learn to listen to the song for what it is.

damn, i just found out that the producer wanted to do a more upbeat, pop version, but cory monteith wanted to do it like the original. cory also wanted to do it in the original key, while the producer wanted him to do it in a higher key, because i guess it's too low. i guess they compromised but i'm really glad they didn't do a pop version, god that would have been awful

This is one of the best episodes, if you ask me. They got into a touchy subject, and managed to stay civil. Seems hard to talk god with a religious person, well done!
This was such a good episode with beautiful songs and this song is just so quietly emotional. Finn realizes that someone's never been there for him. And its really well done.

Glee isn't a band. It's a show about Glee Club. Which happens to sing already done songs, not make new ones.
They have talents - you can't deny it, one of them is a Broadway singer, they all have experience.

"Glee" has made it's own original songs: see "Loser Like Me" and "Get It Right" as two examples, there are two others that weren't as important to me. 2. The only people going onto the show with experience were: Matthew Morrison (Broadway Singer), Lea Michele (Voice Lessons), and Chris Colfer (with one school play where he played a character named "Kurt").
@Frogki2 Cool! As to Lea Michele being on Broadway, I'm not certain, and yes, Chris Colfer played a character named Kurt in one school play where he had to sing. He originally tried out for the "Artie" role, but Ryan thought he'd make an excellent gay character since he needed one and he is actually gay. He asked Chris if he had any experience in acting and singing and he said the play thing. Ryan liked the name Kurt so he decided to make Chris Colfer Kurt.

People really dislike the covers that Glee makes because Glee, honestly, although a guilty pleasure to watch is a horrible travesty of a show. The actors are good, but the plot, the writing, everything is terrible. And for Glee to have the gall to cover these classics as if they are on the same level of artistry, upsets many, many people that are not big fans of the show. You ought to respect our opinions too

They absolutley killed this song. it should have never been covered. it was bad enough glee had to ruin a bunch of good songs, now they destroy my favorite song. Now everyone thinks the glee version is better than R.E.M. which is bull crap. >:(

That's one of the aspects of all kinds of art, interpretation. I mean, i agree with you that originals are, most of the time, better, as in this song, but that doesn't mean covers are bad

Glee isn't a band. It's a show about Glee Club. Which happens to sing already done songs, not make new ones.
They have talents - you can't deny it, one of them is a Broadway singer, they all have experience.
If you don't like the video, simply don't watch it. If you honestly believe what you said, it's simple enough not to listen :)

"Glee" has made it's own original songs: see "Loser Like Me" and "Get It Right" as two examples, there are two others that weren't as important to me. 2. The only people going onto the show with experience were: Matthew Morrison (Broadway Singer), Lea Michele (Voice Lessons), and Chris Colfer (with one school play where he played a character named "Kurt").

@Frogki2 Cool! As to Lea Michele being on Broadway, I'm not certain, and yes, Chris Colfer played a character named Kurt in one school play where he had to sing. He originally tried out for the "Artie" role, but Ryan thought he'd make an excellent gay character since he needed one and he is actually gay. He asked Chris if he had any experience in acting and singing and he said the play thing. Ryan liked the name Kurt so he decided to make Chris Colfer Kurt.

People really dislike the covers that Glee makes because Glee, honestly, although a guilty pleasure to watch is a horrible travesty of a show. The actors are good, but the plot, the writing, everything is terrible. And for Glee to have the gall to cover these classics as if they are on the same level of artistry, upsets many, many people that are not big fans of the show. You ought to respect our opinions too
