  • I came so close to doing a proper, full pistol squat the other day. My legs were going down a little over half way but then my foot tippy toed and my thighs descended onto my calf. and then I found out I was still on one leg, so I pushed myself up. I almost got excited over that lol. It's progress and honestly I've only been trying to do this exercise one time a week for a month. I'll be able to do a real one at some point. and when I do, I'll put it up on youtube.

  • try it on a bosu ball flipped over. its pretty tough

  • I'm not impressed by the pistol itself, what's impressive for me is how you're managing to hold those kettlebells in that position. Requires great forearm and general arm strength. The pistol is good technically but not that difficult at that weight. (KBs look like 12 kg if I'm not wrong)

  • did 3 sets of 8 pistols yesterday for the 1st time, thought I didn't get much of a burn or pump, but then fell backwards on my ass while trying to climb the stairs as my leg gave out. I had a plate in one hand and a drink in the other but i managed not to drop or spill either lol. Is it normal to not feel the burn with this exercise, but still have the effect sneak up on you ?

  • The pistol is generally a very safe exercise for the knees if you have no history of injury. It is a very advanced exercise and requires a lot of training to get to that level to perform safety. Thanks for watching!

  • @DCHealthPM I am a heavy squatter and have developed pain my left-knee. Not having suffered a true knee injury, I believe I have developed a muscle imbalance (in hip flexors) that causes me to favor my left side, putting stress on the knee. Since I have been doing assisted pistol squats to warm up for my squats my knee pain has been gradually reducing.

  • Wouldnt those damage knee cartilage? I can see doing that without weight as they can condition thee knees.

    After doing those for a while my knees began to hurt. Adding weight and also doing it with only my body weight.

    Also there is the factor of my body getting used to the stress, gradually.

    That is some sick leg strength though man!

  • @destine4hope you must be able to recover from each bout, make sure you arent damaging knee cartilage/ligaments if you have pain

  • 16KG double bottoms up press, with a pistol squat, very nice.
