  • Peter is so hot! :-)

  • brompton it's better!

  • @ContessinaAlex Brompton is more compact sure, and I love mine, but is it better? The Vector X10 is definitely faster... I guess better is what you like. -Peter

  • @nycewheels ... but I've got a brompton! ;-) peter, you're great! ciao from italy!

  • @ContessinaAlex Ciao! -Peter

  • Peter, when will the Vector X8 becomes available in the market? :)

  • @s1nglespeeder We don't have a definite ETA from Dahon on this as of today. -Peter

  • @ 1:11, he passes people.. @ 1:13, one of the people was like "Hey wait..? did we just get on camera" and stops walking, so does the other. @1:15, they both turn around. XD

  • @Dillon1791 Good eye Dillon :) never noticed that before. -Peter

  • I have a Dahon Vitesse. They are lovely bikes and ride like a full size one. I take delight in overtaking full size books with a trailer carrying my dog

  • @kentcyclist If you liked this video you should check out the Verge X10 from Tern Bicycles which is very similar. -Peter

  • ну и хуйня

  • Did they move the rack mount bolts to the inside of the "seat stays" (for lack of a better term) or just remove them? Or to put it another way, is that white circular mark on the inside of the seat stay by the brake noodle a bolt or something else?

  • tapi dahon jelek kalo di tanjakan. saya tidak bohong. saya memakai dahon.

  • Dahons seem like awesome bikes, but they need to be a tad cheaper IMO. I mean they're not Brompton pricey but still...their cheapest is like 400 around there, I think Citizens are ranged from 170-400, but nobody talks about them...are they like bad? Quality wise they look good but Dahon's look better. Who knows? lol

  • @MKF30 Not familiar with Citizen bike except from some customer feedback that upgraded to Brompton or Dahon. It is of course impossible to build a half-way reliable bike for $164. -BC

  • @nycewheels Maybe you're right, maybe not so much impossible but improbable. I can understand, I feel the same way about cars. lol Nothing's cheap to build anymore but at the same time, the more affordable the better too :) I like how all the dahons and updated ones have seat pumps. I called your store and that's what one of the sales guys told me. That's important if your tire needs air randomly somewhere. I think he said he all newer dahons have them, from here on out if I'm not mistaken.

  • @MKF30 I believe they will. Sometimes they skip the pump on super-lightweight bikes to save a few grams and make the bike faster. -BC

  • @nycewheels Yeah, I specifically called about a month ago asking if the pump comes with the Dahon Speed Uno since the MU Uno isn't out until next year? That's what he told me, it wasn't Peter, it was someone else I forget. Maybe you, I don't know lol But all you guys are very helpful and nice :) He told me it comes with the newer Speed Unos now as standard the pump. Which is good because that looks like an awesome bike! :)

  • @MKF30 i don't care what brompton owners say. bromptons cannot replace every bike for every occasion. it's great you're in love with brompton, but a brompton is not in the same league of this particular bike, imo. it simply isn't. dahon makes a range of bikes and it makes no sense to compare brompton, which essentially makes the same bike over and over, to dahon which makes different bikes for different uses. and imo, bromptons should be cheaper.

  • @iwasborntobefly Uhh, I think you misunderstood what I said or meant lol with some of your point. I don't like Brompton, I said Dahons aren't Brompton Pricey, implying that Bromptons are a ripoff imo, Dahon's are better to me from what I've read, heard and seen. And I'm in love with the Dahon Speed Uno! I'm getting one in the near future once I save up! I personally don't see the hype for Bromptons, guess if you have more money. I'm liking dahon's more plus they come with a pump! How cool!

  • In terms of quality, I'm sure both Dahons and Bromptons are good but I'm leaning heavily towards Dahon! :) I wanted the MU Uno but doesn't come out again until next year 2012, but think the normal Speed Uno will do. This bike is awesome in the video but a little too pricey for me.

  • good review. Just a question: any idea how this bike compares to the Oyama Crosstown???

  • @11thMessenger We do not sell that bike so can't really comment on it. -BC

  • great review as always.

Question: is it possible to attach fenders to this bike? If so, will they be as effective as the ones on a Brompton?

  • @HariVIyer It is possible, but the bike will not be available until 2012. I think I've seen your comments all over our videos lately - if you want to discuss any detail questions or something you can't find here just shoot me a personal message. Would love to hear from you. -Peter

  • 涼しい!私はあなたがそれを愛すると確信している。(Googleの翻訳) - Peter

  • any chance you guys have the Dahon HammerHead 2010?

  • @Pogokoala No Hammerheads this year. Dahon might have discontinued them for good. BC

  • Hi peter, What if this bike runs over some couple of rocks or woods off the floor? because here in Miami where I live, we have some tiny hills because of the crummy roads and rocks and broken bottle glass on the floor. Can this bike survive my urban neighbor hood? (This is a serious question not a joke)

  • @Pogokoala Well, its a racing bike, made for speed, no durability. The Dahon Speed P8 would be better suited for rough roads in urban settings. BC

  • @rodrigoxtt1963 At the moment this bike is not available in the US. We are waiting for Dahon to update us on the release date but at the moment it looks like no time soon. Thanks for your question and the hug. -Peter

  • Hi Peter,

I agree with what has been told already regarding the quality of the videos you provide. Smooth transitions, cool music in the background.

However, I have one comment about the Dahon Vector series. This bikes are supposed to be used in sporty conditions. It would be good to detal not only the folding capacities, but the riding capacities, how strong is the frame in hard conditions, jumping on and off sidewalks for example.

  • @synopsis8 Good point, we sort of stick around the area close to the shop and it would be great to take the Vector folding bikes out for a more extensive in depth test. I don't think any of the Vectors should be jumped off side walks. They are great folding bikes for fast riding but because they are so light and high performance they are more on the delicate side. A few pot holes here and there would be fine but on/off curbs - not recommended. : ) -Peter

  • Your videos are very informative and I like the smooth transition you have from scene to scene, very well edited.

  • @pablohsu Thanks Pablohsu, I'm learning more and more. This Vector X10 video is probably the best one I've edited yet! -Peter

  • The bike looks very slick, awesome design.

How does the bike handle rougher roads (potholes, cracks etc), good suspension?

  • @ElectricAlienCat Yeah it sure is beautiful. The Vector X10 does not have suspension. It's a pretty rigid aluminum frame with racing style rims. They wouldn't be so hot on rough roads and pot holes. This folding bike is totally geared towards fast road riding. -Peter

  • @nycewheels Thanks Peter, I was going to order one but was told (by thorusa.com) nobody has em yet! Guess I'll just keep dreaming...

  • @ElectricAlienCat It's true they wont be available for a bit but we've got a waiting list going and are ready to order as many as we need when they become available. Send me a personal message if you want to get on the waiting list.

  • Hey Peter,

What brand/model lavaier mike are you using? Thanks!

  • @innomind Sennheiser eW100, a bit expensive but never had a hiccup. I see all TV stations coming into our shop use the same mic.

  • @nycewheels I got the same ew 100-ENG G3, however are you using the lavaier mike that came with this pack (ME 2) or did you get a separate unidirectional one that only picks up the speaker and not the surrounding sounds? Thanks again Peter!

  • @innomind I believe it is the omi-directional G2. I got it as a kit so not sure about the specs. We usually use the furry wind screen when riding as well to eliminate that crackling sound.

  • @nycewheels Thanks Pete,

I thought you were using the cardoid Sennheiser ME-4... You seem to be using the one that came with the set, the ME-2. Nice job isolating the background sounds though...

  • Very nice video and folding bike.

    :-)

  • @electricyclist You've got that right electric, this is one sweet folding bike. We're supposed to be shipping it back to Dahon but Mark wont let it go.

  • @nycewheels - You are the best promoters of these folding bicycles in the world and I think that the Brompton and the Dahon factories should to do a monument to you.

    :-)

  • @electricyclist Wow, now that's praise! Bert (the owner) just forwarded your comment to the head of Brompton in the US. The only question now is, what to feature in the monument?

  • @nycewheels - there is no doubt that many internet users watch video on your bicycle test.

For the monument, I thought of a statue with (the great) Paul Newman and Katharine Ross, who riding the bicycle. "This is the future".

    :-)

  • Very nice bike!!!! How much cost this? (sorry for my bad english, i'm italian!!)

  • @SammyStreetStyle

I think you can go to the link in the video to see,...their site is nycewheels(dot)com so you can find different priced bikes.

Here I went to the link for you, the price is: $1,400.00

  • @psptechnologypsp Right on, you can always see the prices for all our bikes as well as what we have available in the shop for test ride. Small correction though: the price is $1499. Thanks for supporting each other and keep on watching! - Peter

  • i am amazed on how you film all your videos! salute! one hand one glidecam one hand on handle, gosh! do u wear glidecam vest or something? thank you for your video and bike review! 5 star!

  • @ngothyeaun Thank you, much appreciated. I have an electric Brompton folding bike that I mostly just ride on smooth electric power while holding the glide-cam upside down (not as intended) but it works pretty well. Dodging taxi-cabs and potholes in NYC adds some excitement to it as well. I do of course always wear my helmet, just in case...
