I think they are soulmates too. In the X Files, we can feel this thanks to the way they look each other. Ant that is finally materializes several times in the TV show and in the last movie. (it's too bad the secret kiss hadn't appeared on every cinema screens in FTF!). I've never ever seen such a relation ship before! I think they may have been lovers in the real life.
