  • I would also finish it in your case. It has never been "easier" for indie developers to pu games in stores / public / etc. Really. If you still have all the files - put in a little more time and make a it a (maybe smaller) game! This game really has something!

  • looks epic mate shame you never finished it

  • Wow, this looks really awsome, too bad you decided not to continue.

  • Reminds me Demon Crest game

  • wtf, you did this in highschool? thats amazing

  • This is awesome!! Too bad you stopped!

  • Thumbs up for the game, thumbs down for music.

  • It is awersome. I hope that game will be end. That sword moves looks realy good! You must funish it!

  • wow, this looks cool

  • DAMN. nice game dude. really nice looking graphics :D

  • Can you send the engine? id love to take a look at how you made that wall.

  • Man this game has some nice animations you really shouldn't give this up...

  • This'd make a great download game on a console, and the market's good for it right now.

  • looks pretty cool o.O

  • Did you draw all the sprites/backdrops yourself ?!

  • Finish this and get it on X-Box Arcade. That'd be ace. =D

  • Whoa, this looke grand.

  • looks amazing

  • This game looks AWESOME!!!!!!! NICE!!!

  • awesome looking game, what is the name of the song used in this video?

  • Looks like Sonic coupled with Castlevania. Thumbs up.

  • Man, you really could finish this game up! I mean, toss our holidays in it... you could charge 4,99 easily heh.

Anyway, you can probably do much better today, if you could do this at some time ago... congratulations!

  • Amazing... too bad this was never released.

It looks like all it needs is some final polishing up, and then released to DS.

  • Agree, please continue the development on this

  • Damn, this looks good.

Even if you just released this abandon game as it is, I think we'd all be fairly happy.

  • simple to program, but nice graphics.

  • Wow. This looks like a seriously awesome game.

  • Multimedia fusion?!?! *jaw drops on lap*

  • this is really good! I thought it was a maximo game for the gba or something. excellent work! please make some time for your adoring fans

  • this game looks cool

  • this looks amazing. if you are to busy please give the project to someone who is worthy.

  • I would seriously consider getting it finished, even if you have to work with others to get it done, im sure you would have no trouble getting others to work on such a great game

or if you dont want to work on it pass it on to others, as its a shame a game that looks as good as that will never see the light of day

  • @TrevHead10

this was made in multimedia fusion... this software makes it extremely hard to 'pass on' to others, i've found as a general rule, when you take on a big project like this, only the creator has any idea how the game works, and in many (most) cases even the games own creator has no idea what does what after a while. i bet he'll start from scratch it if he ever does finish this.

  • You should seriously seriously consider finishing this. It looks like it's almost done, anyway, so why is this not already out?

  • OMG write the link of the game in description,or the demo,or whatever,I want to play a single level at least!!! whateveeeer! Don´t care the glitches or bugs...and by the way,in the video we can see a pretty number of scene, that makes me think that game is at half development...LET US PLAY PLEASE

  • looks awesome!! I don't believe if you say this is all made in mmf2...

  • what did u use to make it...it looks awesome!!!

  • Great job! There are things there I have no clue how you did them. Any tutorials you might like to share? For instance: How did you do the double-jump? Any problems with slopes? How did you do the grabbing ledge effect?

  • Awesome game. It's kind of a shame it was never completed. =/

  • it reminds me of Metal Slug

  • Man, finish this! It'll be sweet.

  • My my, dare i say.. awesome game!

  • the DIY Goblin & Ghoul... very cool!

  • Man that's incredible! Do you have any tutorials on how to create a game that would run like this.

  • Oh man what an awesome game!

  • very good work

  • that's sweet...how long ago was highschool?

  • I agree, you should really get back on this project! it'd be awesome to see it finished!

  • I GIVE YOU MONEY WHEN YOU COMPLETE IT!

  • dude, you should really start work on this again, it's awesome!

  • There's never a good enough reason to give up yer dreams.

  • Maximo?

  • whats the name of this song its awesome

  • looks like a great game!

  • its a shame to see such a promising game left unfinished.

You should try to get back to it!

    We'd all download it :)

  • This game looks cool were to download?

  • is this a real hand made game or a game he took a video of,this game is hot, is there anyway i can download it????

  • course not, it was never finished

  • Impressive game dood.

I'd like to see this game as a demo or something >.> .

  • At the very least, you should've at least given the file to somone else experienced with MMF to continue this beauty. It's an absolute DISGRACE that this isn't being worked on in any way!

  • Hi, dude...

Well, i'm brazilian, and i've saw this project one year ago in The Daily Click, and just now i've saw it on YouTube...

Dude, this is one of the best 2D games i've ever saw, congratz...

As i've said, i'm brazilian, sorry my bad english...

    Bye, and congratulations again...

  • What is that song called? It´s really great.

  • Pillar - Light at my feet

  • wow dude... this is a pretty awesome game, grats.

remembers me castlevania and megaman... the sprites and design are most like other games anyway (speedy gonzalez, 'tom & jerry' maybe)

    hope u finish the job.

    saludos.

  • it does look awesome! nice job! I just started with mmf...

  • My god this game looks amazing. You did this all by yourself?! This is some of the best work I have ever seen because it looks like Y's mixed with metroid and a bit of castlevania. This game looks godly no joke PLEASE work on it, so many good games like this die!

  • It's actually spelled "retarded", and according to your profile you listen to Linkin' Park. 'Nuff said.

  • haha pwned imo.

  • @ben2theedge so ur gay?

  • Looks awesome, the moves remind me of Mega Man X6 (Zero).

Which tools did you use to write it? Which language is it written in?

  • It's not really a programming language, I used Multimedia Fusion.

  • wtf

  • 1. No u

    2. Prove it.

    3. No u

  • Because someone made something good, you think he ripped another game off? You sir, are a class A twat.

Awesome lookin' game btw. What's going on though? are you still making it?

  • 1. Turn the volume down.

    2. No it's not.

    3. Thanks for the laughs, friend.

  • Not that I want to bug ya, sir, but do you have plans on finishing this project eventually? This is REALLY exceptional looking work and it looks like a damn fun game.

  • I'd like to come back to it eventually. My professional work has kept me from spending too much time on pet projects like this, and there's a lot I'd like to change (I made this when I was in highschool). Hopefully someday though ;)

  • What proffesional work do you do?

You really should work on this, I would pay to play something as polished as this. You could definately make a bit of money out of it.

  • An old arcade game eh? What was it originally called then? Or have you by any chance forgotten the name?

  • wow this is incredible, man, you should try to finish this!

  • i dnt think that's chaos gate. at 43 secs it's like Final Fantasy 4...

  • this is definatly not chaos gate...

  • why did i just get -6 i just didn't like it its nothing like the warhammer chaos gate also um i'm 10 yeaux ol

  • Him use Multimedia fusion 2 and toauthor good work this game really impress me!

  • AWESOME. Loved the gameplay.

  • looks like a mix of castlevania and actraiser 2, but very cool. what kind of programme do u use for this? do u make all the artwork by urself?

  • I hope he releases it I'd be very much interested in playing it. I have to say this video is way better then most of the professional trailers by the big companies.

  • This reminds me of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link; only that you fixed its flaws and improved on the gameplay engine.

  • If he does release this game. He'll have to change the title because there is already a old Warhammer game called Chaos Gate.

  • Did you use Game Maker?

Looks really awesome, I'm actually making my own playform style game but the graphics aren't as nice as yours are.

  • cool man, which programme do u use?! id like to experiment a little bit with such a programme myself.

  • cool man, which programme do u use?! id like to experiment a little bit with such a programme myself.

  • I think it is Multimedia Fusion

  • What system did you design it to run on? Playstation 3? Or Xbox 360?

  • I think it is a computer game.

  • that would be a sick game. id buy it. its awesome.

  • what is the song mate?

  • This games looks like potential pwnage!

  • i hope you finish it cause it looks so awsome i hell want to play it XD XD, btw wat is the song is call can any one tell me?

  • I agree that you should somehow un-abandon this, even if you hand it off to someone else to finish... Looks great!

  • at least put the engion and everything onthe web. dont just throw it away people could use this

  • THAT IS THE SHIZNIT OMMFG!!!

  • Agreed. Keep this game going. It's already looking absolutely brilliant. Just needs to be finished. ^_^

  • Massively fucking impressive. Keep it up.

  • I need this song its pretty bad ass. and this is possibly the most amazing Indie game I have ever seen

  • This is an insanely cool looking indie game. Very nice. I'd buy it!

  • Ben, you have made me cry. "practically abandoned" Chaos Gate make me sad.

  • I love the look of the combat system, though I'm trying to figure out how you managed to do that 3D wall after the save thing...

  • mmm

    make a demo

  • The Mode 7-like segment is especially impressing.

  • excelente game man, i wish i could do something like that someday

  • WOW!!! You should have tried finishing it and selling it!!!!!

  • looks awesome!Did u do this all on ur own?

  • I wanna play that game!

  • You really should've at least released something. I mean, if you aren't going to finish it, couldn't you just post a beta, or something? I was really, really looking forward to this.

  • chaos gate is the name of a warhammer 40k game

  • Wow nice game. Two questions: 1 Is it open for download? 2 Do you draw the graphics?

  • I have Multimedia Fusion 2 the full version, can I have the .mfa or .cca file. I think I could help work on it.

  • Any chance the public could try a demo of Chaos Gate? It seems like a good old capcom, Ghost 'n Goblins, Castlevania-ish clone which is a good thing. Good stuff with the graphics too!

  • This game seems to be pretty cool! \o/

  • Great video...looks very intense. I also like the music by Pillar, one of my favorite bands...

  • Looks great man, I can see you play capcom games, nice pop-ups and downed enemy finishers :)

  • Was this by any chance made with Multimedia fusion 2?

  • Ben, does this mean The Chaos Gate is abandoned?

  • For all practical purposes, yeah, but I want to return to it at some point when I have the resources to do it properly, so I hate the word "abandoned".

  • Ben, does this mean The Chaos Gate is abandoned?

  • Amazing game, can't wait to see more from your games.

  • Dude, I would love to try it.
