The only real problem I have with the Judea-Christian belief structure is the idea of turning the other cheek. This passage in the bible; which I know very well growing up in a Christian home and a private Christian school, makes me believe the true store of this "religion" has been plagiarized from the real version that has not been recovered, but there is a enough proof that the Bible is not whole to make someone question the purpose of that message is more to create obedient drones without ?
This is a misrepresentation of God's grace, using inconvenient jesting to make the point. Men choose to sin, God does not make them. No one who believes in God's grace in salvation would believe or teach that. I am astounded at how people will not deal with what a 'calvinist' actually believes. Straw men are easier to attack, yes, but will you not in all good conscience before God deal with actual argumentation?
I am on the fence regarding all of this calvinist/arminian debate. I know folks who i respect from both camps. Jesus the Christ is the only way and every thing else is below that. If the Lord is all knowing then would he not know who would come and who would reject him? That is the question that i ponder. The pride shown in all the "you're wrong and i am right vids" seems to stray from the gospel to self indulging motive. JMO
Hey i have been guilty of the same so i cannot really throw a stone.
@fakebrake I think we need to understand what the bible says about our ability to "choose" anything. The natural man cannot receive the things of God 1 Cor 2:14. That word "receive" is dechomai meaning to accept an offer being made. "A man's heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps" Pro 16:9 All throughout the Bible, God is causing everything to happen by His will, even the evil. There is nothing that He just "knows about". He causes it, even unbelief
Here is the best that I have come to so far: God is sovereign, and in His sovereignty He has given us all a measure of free will. I think ultimately it comes down to really understanding what it means that God is sovereign. It means that He is so omniscient and omnipotent that He can allow our mistakes and rebellion without allowing His eternal plans to be thwarted.
