I've heard that if you just put some nice pick-ups on an Epiphone, that it gets pretty difficult to justify the difference in price between it and a Gibson.

I don't know why anyone has to have their eye's subjected to comments like

"ass-cry'd21". He can't possibly know what other kinds of things you may have applied yourself to, in which you might just run circles around him

Then guitar only being a hobby to pass the spare time. Not to mention, that people like that don't realize, that his motive for playing is not born purely out of love for music. If it was he would recognize that your efforts, are driven by the same, and that is something shared in common. So what's there to knock?

I don't know how you do it to reply that way.

Love the phat sound of a Gibson, I just couldn't quite afford one. And wouldn't settle for an Epiphone Les Paul. So I bought the best Strat I could afford, and am pretty darn satisfied with it. But, man, that Gibson sound, whew... it's worth saving those pennies for.
