A tip for everyone that I do:when your shading, you can d what she said (with the clipping layer, which I've done) r, after you lay down the flat color on that layer, check 'preserve opacity' which means now, you can color outside of the base, which also helps ^^

@supdenfoosukka That's good, even though I never tried to tell you which one is better lol In origin, SAI and photoshop are two different programs, SAI was made specifically for manga, while photoshop was based in photo-manipulation. I don't think I could ever say which one is better when compared to each other, because they're both better in their own ways. But, that's a discussion for a different video, obviously not one about tricks for easier shading.

@LittlestPetShopsRoc1 you have to go where the layer options are (new layer) then just click the button next to the new layer button, creating a linework layer and allowing you to use the curve tool, hope this helped. (if you can't find the linework layer option, it looks exactly like the 'new layer' button except it has a pen on it. ;3)

i have a friend who totally could NOTdraw at all, but then he used paint tool sai and now he 'draws' the most beautiful things.... so actually, you can 'cheat' so easily with paint tool sai??? i dont know how he does it..

@readysteadydude I don't think you can "cheat" with SAI, but I do know that some people have an easier time drawing digitally than drawing traditionally, and vice versa. I used to draw better traditionally, but ever since I got my tablet it's as if I've trained myself to not be able to draw on paper as well anymore.

@YourxHeroiine I say any tool that you're most comfortable with would be best for lineart. You could use practically any tool to do lineart, and they all work just as great as the rest. Next time you draw on SAI, experiment with all of the tools and their settings and see what you like the best. I go through phases, sometimes i love the pen, sometimes i love the ink pen. Right now I love the brush tool, so it's really up to you :)

@YourxHeroiine Don't use three layers. you should have one layer with the base, and then make another on top of it and clip it. If you need more shading, you add another layer on top and clip again, etc. What you're doing is clipping another layer to your original

i want to ask like if you are continuing to colour your pic e.g hair,you make new layer for it,but when you clip its shading and colouring,will they effect the clippings of the one you made for the skin??

@subarustarz Nope, the clipping will only affect the layer underneath it :) So if I made a new layer for the hair base color and put a clipped layer on top of it for the shading, it wouldn't disturb any other layers other than the hair base.
