You should make them sticky pistons and make the melons go backwards with water underneath the opened piston arm so the melon will flow to you instead of having to go and collect them. Thumbs up so he can see.

You should have water in front of the melons so when you push the pistons the melons land in the water and the current takes the melons into a pit. so you don't have to creep along the stems. Just a thought :)

Syndicate, Redstone travels for one block. So where the switch was to activate the glowstone, you can put a block of dirt or stone etc and then put the lever on that block. Because the current travels for 1 block :)
