Doing an Author Study on Shel Silverstein for my childrens lit class, and Ive really gotten to know him as an author!!! The only book I had ever read by him was The Giving Tree, which was a classic, and now I have read them all!!

In elementary school they had this on a film strip and would play it for all the kids in the cafeteria if it was raining out and we couldn't go outside for recess. This and sometimes" Herbie the Love Bug".

In Italy, I wanted to eat at a Pizzeria, rumored to be the best in Rome. The line was long and they didn't seat me because I was alone. I stood in line and I read this book printed in Italian & English.I had read it when I was a kid.

They ignored me and sat folks ahead of me, but I was enjoying Lafacadio so much that I didn't care. They finally saw I wasn't going away, so they sat me and I ate the best pizza in Rome and read Uncle Shel.
