I think using a 400 f2.8 is little ott, just for that little bit of change in perspective.

@bigredrobot26 ... and most of that change happens within the Bokeh, I don't get it either a 200 2.8 would have done the shoot although the Bokeh would have been maybe slightly less creamy and the dof a little bigger or a Canon 85 1.2 / ZE 85 1.2 would have done the job even if their would have been a change of perspective. (but again in the Bokeh)

I don't exactly know how good the canon 85s are but I know about the Minolta 85 1.4 G, and that Lens is just outstanding when it comes to Bokeh.

400 mm f/2.8 - field sport lens but good for most things where there's plenty of room (3 metres or more).

He's clearly getting what he wants. Shallow depth of field,with a very fast long lens. He might be going for the poparottsi look. thus the use of that $5000+ lens. is cost ever a concern with NYC fashion photography? They have a motorhome as a mobile studio^_^. The dream life.
