Today I had a lecture from interspecific communication - we´ve learnt about Dr. Pepperberg and about Alex - untill now I didn´t know anything about him and about what ever he knew. He had to be a special parrot - and I also hope, that dr. Pepperberge´s approach to animals will be inspiration for all scientists... R.I.P. Alex

Thanks for the video. It was kind of like watching a memorail for my African grey who also died. He could make up his own sentences, even asked me an appropriate Q. once. Most of his speech was appropriate. He loved children. When I stopped taking him to school to be in my speech class (difficult situation) after many years, he was so unhappy! Adult attention didn't "get it". He loved kids. He died not too long later & I do believe he is in Heaven. I thank our Heavenly Father for him!

We have had three avian companions.

They are beyond special. Our goffins, Willie, passed from us over a year ago and I miss him still. Even though he had "issues" he was smart, engaging and a full member of the family. Right now we have a cockatiel and a sun conure. Our lives would be diminished if not for them. Alex was wonderful and through Dr. Pepperberg's work, avian conscienceness was raised. Goodbye, Alex. Not forgotten.

I just loved this tribute! While attending the University of Arizona, I knew someone who worked in Dr. Pepperberg's lab with Alex. He always considered it an honor to be there, and gave me Alex updates all the time. I miss Alex!

Writing with tearfilled eyes is not easy, but every time I read some of the comments written about Alex I feel saddened. I am owned by 7 parrots and they are so loving and understanding. The work Dr. Pepperberg has done is the truth and only bird owners and lovers will see it.

This video is exceptional - I would love to have some of the pictures I have seen of Alex. I create in Paint Shop Pro and would love to make some letters in memory of Alex.
