Re: Bo & Ed, why take sides? I can understand Bo wanting to sing R&B but it's Ed's show & I'd be pissed for sure if we agreed to do something & that was not honored. If I hire you to paint my house green I come home & it's red, I'm through with you. I don't think Ed should be demonized for a natural reaction. Same with Janet; I wonder how she would like it if she heard a track she recorded changed when it was aired. That's what she did on that football segment. Always walk in the other's shoes.
A great take on an American classic. Folks are missing a fine tune! Also, I wish somebody would post the great previously unreleased "Hey Khrushchev" by Bo. It's the way things were. Thanx!
@mattybock Thats interesting ed was a sports writer initially a similar thing happened with the doors and couldnt get much higher you know the story the last thing that happened on ed sullivan maybe you didnt hear was they wanted to have roland kirk on the show but they gave him a lot of BS that he had to have his own insurance because he was blind they wanted him to do a stevie wonder song but he did atonal jazz that went over the audiances head this was the last episode of the
@spacepatrolman ed sullivan show I dont think it has ever been shown in reruns or syndication when ed was replaced by cades county dick gregory wrote this article that the ed sullivan show was this great thing that people that couldnt afford to go to a musical could see one on televison .

@mattybock Why was there some problem between ed sullivan and bo?
spacepatrolman 4 months ago
@spacepatrolman
Yes, Bo was approved to do his1st tv appearance on ed's show, and ed asked bo to do 16 tons, but bo wanted to do rock, which ed hated and distrusted.
bo said ok, and the moment he was on stage it was 'bo diddley' not ed's demanded 16 tons.
ed was a touchy guy, he took stuff personally. ed never forgave bo for as long as he lived, and he was never allowed back on the show.
backstage the almost got into a fight, both of the men being former heavy weight boxers.
