Gorbachev ended the Cold War by reforming and ultimately dismantling the Soviet Union. Prior to Glasnost, Reagan's saber rattling, deranged propaganda pronouncing nuclear war "winnable" and "survivable" and runaway arms escalation nearly provoked the paranoid Andropov regime into launching nuclear war. Gorbachev saved humanity; Reagan nearly ended it.
