I think people need to stfu about Alan Wake (original) gameplay and how there is a lot of story and a little bit less action insane moments. Well gtfo!!!! They added a short story to this XBLA title, because originally they just thought about adding the arcade mode, which would be not enough content. Don't worry, this will be an awesome game, and lets wait for Alan wake 2 to get a full game release with the story we loved from Alan wake 1

Everyone saying they are disappointed at the bad relationship with the old mechanics and game, don't be! As it has been stated, this is stand-alone, non-canon material. But Remedy has hinted that they are working on the direct sequel to the original "Alan Wake." Other than that, it is unknown what the sequel will be like. Just wanted to spread the news.

@chris19961210 Alan is still in 'the dark place' in the lake, but he's basically trapped in a nightmarish version of one of the episodes of 'Night Springs' -( the TV show he used to write for.)

Remember how everything he wrote in the first game came to life - same thing here.
