  • last week i went on a sailing trip, it changed me. i love it!!! everything about sailing :) we sang this shanty but i don't know the song can some one tell me what it is it called? please? thanks!!!

  • It's called "South Australia". It's one of the easier to find shanties out there. In fact, there are probably several versions of it here on YouTube.

  • It's called South Australia. You can find it on iTunes

  • You do sound very bitter Paul. Most of the money raised by this lot is donated to various charities.

  • The Fisherman's Friends this is. They have an album called "Suck one and See"

  • this is so damn good.

  • Hey I really like this one xD ... Im leader off an shanty-choir in germany. Could s.o. please send me a link to the composition of this song or s.t.. I´d like to try it with my men :-)

  • Worden 28: Having only visited a few parts of Cornwall, (the mainly commercial parts) I do know what you mean, the place is becoming (or rather was) a magney for the yuppies and their "Urban Tanks" these people dpn't give a flying one about "tradition" or locals, you should venture further south for the Real Cornwall, along the coast past Penzance, before the bastards catch on and ruin that as well!

  • Nice one guys. I love cornwall, Padstow holiday this year, Trevone holiday next year. Cheers.....

  • My parents were from Trevone; while you are there, put in a word for the people who will still be there when you have gone home. Tell the old farts who just want to look at a pretty view till they die, that ordinary people have families and need jobs - they killed my village by blocking planning permission for a place which would have given year round work to all of us - because one of them would have had to look at the car park. (He'e dead now - and so is the village. And half of us have left.)

  • Couldn't have put it better myself. People think urban areas are terrible places to live whilst not thinking about the problems encountered in rural life. My family can't afford to live in south devon anymore because of second-home owners and refusals for affordable home applications. Holiday programmes don't really help the situation either.

  • Sounds like Cornwall is simply poor, not "crap".

Ive never been to Cornwall, but I always perferred the English countryside, steeped in its culture and history, to London's multicultural induced "placeless" feel.

  • Cornwall is beautiful and kept deliberately 'poor' so that rich old farts can admire the view without the tedium of having to live in the real world. Thing is, in the end, all the people who currently clean their toilets and serve them in the restaurants will have had to leave, so they can earn a living.

  • um i grew up in port issac and they are all lovely people who look out for each other

as a kid i remember being taken out on fishing trips with the local fishermen (some are in this choir)

  • words cannot describe how absolutely amazing this is!

  • awesome well done lads!!

  • wow... they sound great.

  • great stuff!!! love the sea shanty's

  • I love this song, brilliant! rendition

  • Superb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wonderful! Wish I'd been there. Looks a load of fun and such good voices.

  • I concur. Absolutely wonderful. :)

  • This is wonderful.

  • brilliant

  • Any1 knows the name of the shantie?

  • gotta take my surname back to CORNWALL

  • Welcome back Mr. Pizza

  • enjoying this. reminds me of my home in devon (dont kill me!) with pubs full of old(er) men singing brilliant songs.

  • I know them all

  • They have got a couple of CDs - 'Suck em and sea' and 'Back from the sea'. Not sure if they have done any more though

  • a very catchy song, it is good to see some Cornishness still alive and kicking

  • they're apparently 'famous' in a way only a group of Cornish fishermen (though they're not all fishermen) can be. They've played Albert Hall I'm told, so I've no doubt they've done a DVD...
