  • Although being marked, as the next Dalai Lama is an honor, it seems extremely overwhelming. I finally found a film that examines reincarnation from a different approach, rejection. My Reincarnation is an insightful documentary that spans the course of 20 years, following a Tibetan/ Italian young man caught between his western life and role as the reincarnation of a great lama. The blend of cultures is INCREDIBLE! I came across this review that explains the film in detail bit . ly/uIr2nk

  • baby bugoluu stinky fart

  • it's very simple china is a nation of coward that never start a war aginst a nother powerful nation in 4000 yr existence cuz tehy know they will lose but they always invade a weaker nation (vietnam) , tibet a even weaker nation can't fight back. as for me i dont give a fuk if ppl dont wana help themslves fuk them usa did try to help tibet but

  • @samantha34ize Exactly. But other countries are also cowards. back in the 1950 the USA didn't help Tibet because the URSS was supporting China.

  • The Dalai Lama supports an outdated system of government and severely oppressed his people when he swas in rule.

Both people on top have grass is always greener syndome. Free Tibet AND fuck the Dalai Lama. They need a free government not one run by china or asshole oligarchs.

  • @goonodeath What? That's so rude and it shows ignorance.

  • @karlanickita How? Because I don't like an opressive ruler even if the people who live there do because their brains have been straight washed? Sorry that I think the Dalai Lama is an asshole for supporting outdated policies and punishments when he was ruling. I like to hold all people to an ethical standard whether mainstream society has a boner over them or not.

  • @goonodeath What?! They feel happy being ruled by the Dalai Lama, so what's your problem with that? You're not the one facing Chinese rules. And Dalai Lama never supported violence. "Outdated policies and punishments" are happening right now in Tibet because of China!! So if you hate such rules, you should be fighting against China, not the Dalai Lama. Do your own research and don't be so naive believing in every single word of Chinese propaganda, please.

  • @karlanickita So because people brainwashed by a cult think they are happy we shouldn't help them? What about drug addicts? Most drug addicts are happy with their situation...should we not help them then?

I do not "buy into chinese propaganda." The chinese are a bunch of oppressive fucks too. I do my own research...strange accusation from someone who looks like they haven't done any research. You buy into the idea that he is a good person. He isn't. Look it up.

    Freedom for tibet.

  • @goonodeath Being ruled by chinese is not helping them. Tibetans prefer being ruled by Dalai Lama and they were very happy before the chinese invasion. So, your comparison doesn't make any sense at all. Thousands of tibetans want Dalai Lama back, and if you're not tibetan and you're not living in Tibet and facing chinese rules, you shouldn't say such things. They know what's good for them. And If they really were brainwashed, they should be helped, but the invasion didn't help at all.

  • @karlanickita IM NOT SAYING CHINA IS GOOD. Fuck the chinese government. You don't seem to understand what I am pushing for.

No Dali Lama. No Chinese rule. Secular constitutional democracy.

I wish to see a one world government one day established on secular democracy but until then they can have their own government.

Just because they think they want that asshole back doesn't mean they know what they are talking about. Most are too young to even have lived when he ruled.

  • @goonodeath I got your point of view. No need to get angry or mad. And from my research, the majority of people who want Dalai Lama back aren't young. They are people who have been through the change and say everything was better when Dalai Lama ruled Tibet.

  • @goonodeath The Dalai Lama has retired yet. Why do not retire even the leaders of the chinese government? Is not the time that they go too? Secular constitutional democracy is precisely the institutional form of the Tibetan government in exile. It would also be the form of government which would exist in Tibet, if there were no Chinese!

  • @02iva Ummm no. A government built on the rule of a buddhist aristocracy is not a secular democracy. In fact, the two are almost opposites.

  • @goonodeath Buddhist aristocracy does not exist. This term makes me laugh.

  • @02iva You are claiming a religious system will not allow for a political system. That is a bogus argument.

Laugh all you want but you just look like another person who just listens to the mainstream praise when in reality it wasn't that way. You probably think mother Teresa was a good person as well I presume...

  • @goonodeath Yes, sure, Mother Teresa was a Saint. And I am not the only one in the world which sustain this fact. She saved thousands poor people in India. How much people saved you? Only words have not value. Try to convince milions of people with the madness your are saying.

  • @02iva HAHAHAHA. You think mother teresa saved people.

Maybe you should take some time to read about her instead of, once again, believing mainstream societies opinions about them.

How is it a "fact" that she was a "saint." Character judgements are all based on opinion.

Personally, I think letting thousands of people who could have been cured with medicine die in the name of religion (a man made concept) makes you a bad person. Hence...I think mother teresa was a cunt.

  • @goonodeath How much people saved you in this life?I made you a question and you didn't give me an answer.I didn't judge you.I didn't say you are a bad person. The only person who is judging here is you.Why you are doing this I really don't know.Your mind is very negative, it's blinded by ignorance. If you had a little understanding you could discover that religion is not negative in itself, but is the use of religion which makes it good or not, as whathever in this world. You are very unfortunate.

  • @goonodeath Dalai Lama is in retirement yet!Tibetan government today is a secular democracy yet.The new tibetan prime minister is Doctor Lobsang Sangay,a layman. He is been elected by Tibetans as Tibetans elected their parliament some years ago!You are not informed about the facts!I know that your interest is to denigrate tibetan policy, because you have to demonstrate that religion is bad!But your ignorance shows that as what you say is foolish, you don't know anything about Tibetan policy!

  • @goonodeath If you are tibetan or a tibetan supporter you don't need to say that His Holiness is a bad person. Any sponsor or Tibetan would never say this thing. So, if you insult the Dalai Lama is because you are a chinese government supporter. If you insult the Dalai Lama you can't say Freedom for Tibet, because Tibet was free when the Dalai Lama was in Tibet, before the chinese invasion. So, we have to deduce that you are paid by the chinese government to say this kind of things.

  • @goonodeath His Holiness is not an oppressive ruler... I don't know how you can say certain absurdities. Maybe you are saying this things because you ignore the truth. I don't know what kind of 'researches' you did for saying this things, but evidently if you substain it is because you totally ignore the history and the truth. Please open your eyes, before it's too late. On the other hand if you are paid by the chinese government, nobody need to give you any credence.

  • @goonodeath His Holiness is been gone to retirement. From the beginning his purpose was to transfer the political power to a popular democratic assembly. He never repressed Tibetans. On the contrary he tried soon to abolish the feudalism. At the same time Tibetans are very devote to His Holiness, they love him.He is their Guru. Now the tibetan government is in the hand of a representative elected by Tibetans and His Holiness is only a spiritual leader. So, what you say is totally false.

  • i laughed when i saw mao hes such a prick.

  • @scradincunt Mao and Stalin were real arseholes... not just in terms of official policy, but also in terms of who they were as people.

  • @lizzylizardson Well I saw several movies : "Taxi Driver" was ok but it remained in his eternal topics (New York, violence, Robert De Niro, etc.), in most of his filmography. Now, "Kundum" is something different : I'm a Geographer and we studied the relationships between China and Tibet at the university... man ! Scorsese did an excellent job ! This movie is more credible than "Pitt's 7 years-story" ! Here we see how deep and unaccessible is the Tibetian culture and the Tantric Bouddism.

  • @cherryblossompath "KUNDUN" Is a near masterpiece and so underrated film!!!...TAXI DRIVER is not just OK, it is a GEM OF CINEMA!!...also RAGING BULL, and GOOD FELLAS (3 undeniable mastperpieces) but SCORSESE has made more greats films in other gnres "THE LAST THEMPTATION OF CHRIST" is one of his best works also underrated...THE AGE OF INNOCENCE, for me it is another masterpiece also underrated!...KUNDUND a very very good film and seems to be unknown for the masses. SCORSESE = GENIOUS!

  • @cherryblossompath HE ALSO MADE "THE KING OF COMEDY" with deniro....unbeliable good film...."AFTER HOURS" is it a brillant film!!!!!..THE AVIATOR!!...SHUTTER ISLAND,etc, you said "violence=deniro=NY= most of his film"...you are so wrong!!!!...besides he doenst show VIOleNcE has something "cool" like tarantino.....IF YOU CANt APRECIATe WHAT HE DID WITH "VIOLENCE FILMS"...LIKE TAXI DRIVER, RAGING BULL AND GGODFELLAS....then you know very little of cinema!, waht about his other GREAT FILMS????

  • @cherryblossompath SCORSESE, the same man who did TAXI DRIVER, CASINO, RAGING BULL,THE DEPARTED, GOODFELLAS...is the man who made "KUNDUN", "THE LAST THEMPTATION OF CHRIST"(even better than kundun), "THE AGE OF INNOCENCE" (beautiful drama period film, intelligence and fine), "AFTER HOURS" (brillant comedy with free narrative structure),"THE AVIATOR" (great use of colors and light, a masive production with great performances), SHUTTER Island, THE KING OF COMEDY(you must watch deniro in that).

  • @cherryblossompath THE BODY OF WORK OF SCORSESE IS ONE OF THE BEST along with SPIELBER...KUBRICK,etc.....if you think that kundun it is his 1 good film....i cant argue with you....my favorite movies of scorsese arent his gangster pictures(wich are great)....maybe some day when you watch "the age of innocence"...or "the last themptation..." or "RAGING BULL" wich for the AFI it is the 4 best film ever made, and for many critics the best film of the 80s.....you change your mind!

  • @Gaston088able I tried to see once "Raging Bull"...couldn't finish it ! I agree with topping Kubrick's work, he was a genious ! But Spilberg ? "Duel" was excellent, knowing the low budget but later, with all ressources, he does bad things half done and with many obvious goofs !

  • @cherryblossompath look...i m not a fan of spielberg....but his body of work is remarkable!....he has done mainstream films GREATS like JAWS, CLOSE ENCOUNTERS, ET, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK...but his real and better work for me are....films he made like EMPIRE OF THE SUN, THE COLOR PURPLE, MUNICH, SCHINLDERS LIST....still i prefer more the work of SCORSEEE, KUBRICK, POLANSKY....

  • @Gaston088able I agree with "The Empire of the Sun" and the Indi saga. "Jaws" is cool but I prefer "Orca" (is deeper) but that's everyone choice (like if you're a Gojira or a Kong fan) :) "Munich" was well done (thankfully by the actors) and happy to see we agree by toping Kubrick's and Polansky's work... I'll try one day another chance to Scorsese work ;p

  • Scorsese's only good movie... Free Tibet, yes... but what Tibet ?

  • this movie depressed the living daylights out of me

  • I believe in the Dalai Lama.

  • weird how they're all speaking english tho lol

  • Chinese, smh

  • One of the most epic Movies and Soundtracks that ive ever seen/heard.

  • @AllenBowgen agree

  • At least they don't have painfully apparent American accent, like in Valkyrie and so many other schlocky excuses for historical films, or even (have mercy) The Last Airbender...uuuuuuuuugggghhhh.....

  • Mao may have said religion is poison, but worshipping him (which the Chinese and other individuals denying the existence of the labour camps still do) was hardly a reasonable alternative. The most militant and aggressive atheists too often are men who want to fill the void of the gods themselves. Disbelief cannot be forced on anyone. And what does it matter if they are speaking English in these movies?

  • One of the few films that actually emotionally hit me.

(I tend to be very apathetic.)

  • Haha Mao was right. Religion is poison.

Still doesn't mean the Tibetans shouldn't be allowed to maintain their traditions.

  • FREE TIBET!

  • "religion is poison" damn right it is

  • @koovah Fuck you.

  • @koovah Buddhism is different. They aren't dictated by some omnipowerfull god, that will torture you if you break his rules. It's not a religion drived by a fear that traps people inside a box, and if they dare step out, they will suffer. Fear traps people in a box of ignorance, Love liberates people allowing them to learn and flourish. Organised religions are fucking bullshit. FREE TIBET

  • Long live Tibet! Long live his holiness 14th Dalai Lama!

  • the soundtrack at the end sounds like the batman (Tim burton version) soundtrack :P

  • Meh... I hate how they are all talking in English. Just like The Last Emperor.

I'll stick with real Asian movies.

  • Interesting: I can hear Philip Glass' piece, Floe. While Philip Glass did score the music for this film(and was nominated for an Academy Award), Floe is from another work of his; Glassworks.

Whoever made this trailer must've felt it more appropriate to use that piece. I wonder if they got Glass' permission?

  • hisphoniness = obvious pawn for the chinese government

  • @smg02lu3 yeah prob one of those supporters

  • Whats the song in the end? anyone know?

  • Escape to India - Phillip Glass

  • @Schizominded escape to india

  • Many, many, many, many more prisons in Tibet today. Prior to Chinese presence in Tibet very few prions. Hundreds of thousands of Tibetans have died as a direct result of the Chinese invasion and occupation. Not to mention the torture and the many who have lost their lives or limbs crossing the pass fleeing Tibet seeking freedom.

  • Does it show the horrible prisons in new China? Does it show that the Dalai Lama was trying to make reforms but the Chinese stopped him? Does is show the cruelty of the PRC?

  • boycott this shitty movie. doesnt tell truth about the nepotistic autocratic feifdome of daliar lama. all main roles in this movie is stolen by the nepotistic lamas sister who plays his mother and her daughter who plays her. the daliar lama is played by their crony aristocrat family members of Tethong and Tsarong..old aristocrat benefitters criminals of old tibet.

  • bro, movie. bro.

  • HHDL came from a poor family.

  • los gringos ya quieren invadir china

  • Oh, and

he's also depicted as the buddha to come.

  • Comment removed

  • I had the exquisite pleasure and tremendous honor of meeting His Holiness last year, and am looking forward to seeing him again in a few days. He is truly the incarnation of Avalokitishvara, the bodhisattva of compassion. Long life to you, my dearest friend.

  • can you tell me more about the maitreya?

  • Sorry, I replied to the wrong thread. I was saying that Maitreya is "the Buddha to be born." Meaning not only that this is a future buddha, but also the buddha that can arise within each of us.

  • but what if he was a prophet that came after buddha...would that be possible?

  • If you are referring to if he was a Judeo/Christian or Islamic figure that has past, anything is possible. But one would have to look at the root of what that particular person taught. What I personally believe isn't really the issue, it's what you believe that matters.

  • Maitreya buddha is the buddha of the next aeon. He will be the one to re-teach dharma and all that once Gautama Buddha's teachings have been forgotten. And that won't be any time soon.

  • i actually made some research about maitreya buddha and it looks like matreya buddha is actually prophet muhammad. My research corrects me. If you are interested. read the pm i will send you

  • I am glad you have found information to aid you in your spiritual path, this is a good thing! I myself do not follow that belief, but this is not what's important.

  • i hope it aids you too. Because it takes some human will to research and find anything that you want to find. I will have you know that muhammad was the last prophet to come to earth. the info i sent you proves the buddhist theory of muhammad's existance and it being the prophet of God

  • The communist govt of China is revered today but they killed millions of tibetans, manchurians, 30 million of their own peasants, and 3-4 million of their own intellectuals in the cultural revolution.

  • I hope someday that His Holiness may walk freely in Tibet.

  • Long Life Dalai Lama

  • FREE TIBET <Shame on China and on the chinese and taiwanese who support this mindless attack on a peaceful people.

  • oma e ha ahoka!! oroka mono mega!!

  • lol the same music as in watchmen what a coincedince :p

  • ohh my god!!!! phlip glass made an extraordinary soundtrack!!!!! it was like the movie's soul! his best work tied with the hour definately

  • From a Buddhist perspective, the statement that the Dalai Lama has killed, enslaved, ect. is very offensive. It would be the equivalent of saying that Jesus was a serial killer. Tibetans are persecuted severely in China, to the point they burn themselves in the street as a form of protest. Buddhism does not teach hate, but the love and compassion of all living things, including the Chinese which have shot their brothers. The Dalai Lama is the Buddha, which is representative of this love.

  • Roger Deakins is amazing.

  • Concerning the piece of music that starts at 1:56, which I know is composed by Phillip Glass and is a remix of a song titled Pruit Igoe from the soundtrack to Koyaanisqatsi, is there anywhere to find this remix, and it is also used in the new Watchmen film during Dr. manhattan's flashback and also in the film's trailer.

  • It's always hars to believe in genocide.

Nobody wanted to believe in Auschwitz, Katyn, Rwanda etc

  • I do not believe 1 million killed in tibet.

    it is too Exaggerated

  • yep people love their violence and shit!

  • >.> this movie isn't violent . . .

I mean, it's clear there's violence going on, but you rarely see any.

  • best movie everr

  • c'est fantastic

  • whats the song at the end? it was used by the matrix too i think

  • Sadly most people care more about economics and the show of the olympics than the brutal destruction of an entire people( 1 million killed).

  • from

    tibet. com/whitepaper/white5.html (remove space)

Over 1.2 million Tibetans have died as a direct result of the Chinese invasion and occupation of Tibet. Today, it is hard to come across a Tibetan family that has not had at least one member imprisoned or killed by the Chinese regime. According to Jigme Ngabo, "after the suppressions of 1959 and 1969, almost every family in Tibet has been affected in some way".

    tibet. com/whitepaper

    has lots of good information

  • @ChinaKillsTibetans i wonder where the fxxk u from? how many indians are killed by the Europe invaders? how many islamics are killed by US invaders? how many Africans are killed by the ignorance of the world? lets say men are always killed by the invasions, the violence and stupid unconsiousness of themselves something like politics. and you and i are of no right to judge until we truely librate ourselves

  • Actually it's not racist. There's a scene in the movie in which Kundun had to meet with a Chinese general and he was surprised that he was just a man, no different from himself. The movie is full of the Dalai Lama's struggle between understanding the Chinese and trying to help the Tibetans, because he realizes the Chinese are people as well, no better or worse. He's one of the few who do.

Now if you want a film that's racist, look at Seven Years in Tibet. That definitely biased.

  • I have wondered why Mao acted like a gay creeper with a fake chest cold, but I came to the conclusion that they cast the actor based more on appearance than acting capability.

That aside, you cannot call it racism to depict one side of an argument with the beauty and elegance displayed in this movie. The other Chinese people in the movie just acted like people. Chairman Mao was badly depicted, but that doesn't make a movie racist.

  • I agree with StellaTortuga. After all, the purpose of portraying Mao as a villain is simply because he is the antagonist, and it is difficult to portray an antagonist who is just as good as the protagonist. Simple as that. plus, cunning is indicative of some sort of intelligence, and yet you describe the Mao in the film as both cunning and stupid? perhaps you should basic knowledge and plot development before accusing the film of being racist.

  • Mao was a 'nice guy'? Yeah I'm sure Hitler could also be quite nice and charming to people he spoke to. Does that make someone like Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao etc etc 'nice guys'? Sorry but if you really think that then you are an idiot.

  • and by the way - there's nothing whatsoever 'racist' about this movie. nowadays this world is full of dumb asses who see everywhere racism and racists. I'm so tired of this bullcrap.

  • atleast he was a pimp, you could never come close to how much of a pimp mao was.

  • Mao's a dumbass and your a dumbass

  • Genius on genius on genius. The most beautiful film. Scorcese's masterpiece. Glass soundtrack captures the vibration of Tibetan mysticism.

  • A Buddhist Story told by American Buddhist film makers and actors. Couldn't think of a better film to make Buddhism cool in the west.

I think this film should be seen by everyone going to the Olympics 2008 then they will get an idea of how poorly the Tibetans and thier culture has been treated by the Chinese Communists.

    Also

FREE TIBET! TIBET WILL BE FREE!!!

Long live the His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the great movement called Buddhism.
