  • He was such a talent. He wrote three big hits back in the 50's. Unfortunately this one was covered by Pat Boone, who made a fortune from the more talented black singer/songwriters of the day. Since I met you baby was covered by a host of popular white singers. Another great IJH tune "Empty arms" was recorded by Joni James. Joe sang these songs the way they were written, with a lot of heart and soul. j.barry7370@yahoo.com

  • thanks warner chappel , and you handyman 1714 , greatly appreciated.

  • I listen to quite many versions of this song, for example Pat or Fats versions but they are not up to the standard of the original IMO. Only Eddie's version though here I am of course biased as almost anything with Ed is good.

  • So many people got rich off of this man's songs. Why in the hell hasn't this man been given the recognition he deserves. He 's an American icon!!!!

  • @gdl0748 well must say I tend agree with you there

thanks for watching here, have a great weekend and God Bless

  • @gdl0748 so true.....

  • Listen to Fats Dominos version !

  • This is one of the few "race records" that had a "passable" cover (by Pat Boone) - unlike Pat's laughable version of Little Richard's "Tutti Frutti"....

  • @recovering16 never heard pat boones version?,is just a good ol soulful song I think

wish could get music like this today?

anyway,Thanks for watching here, have agreat weekend, and God Bless

  • @Handyman1714 The Pat Boone version appears on my page - right here. Maybe you can check it out. As I said, it was about the only remake that he did that that was kind of close to the original (certainly not "Tutti Fruttie!)

  • @recovering16 Love Letters In The Sand was a fair one too

  • Stunning. Ivory Joe, Charles Brown, Cecil Gant - all totally overlooked today. Thanks for posting.

  • @MrDagwoodBumstead Welcome!!,,and yes you are sooo right
