@Darkfire889 I think you may be referring to their R&D where they test if the polymer notes can survive our Canadian winter. Yes, we have places that are pretty pretty cold. So the polymer notes have to be able to handle cold.

@Darkfire889 Good point re heat. Imagine old paper/cotton money if partially burned, as long as you got enough left, you can try to see if the bank will honour it. I wonder if the polymer note will melt too quickly compare to the old paper/cotton money?

This is potentially a horrible idea.

I was just traveling in Costa Rica, where they just released new $1 plastic bills - they look very much like our new hundred. And alright, they aren't going to rip, and they might be harder to forge, but they have a serious problem:

They are slippery as all hell! Reach for one in your pocket and five more are gonna fly away. Now as I said, this is just Costa Rica, I haven't seen ours, but be warned.. This could be an epic fail.

@vinoberg Don't jump to immediate conclusion based on your Costa Rica experiences yet. Give it a chance. Places like Australia, Hong Kong, Thailand, etc have been using polymer notes for years, and they seem to be ok. So give it a try first.
