  • Dazza, thanks so much for posting these 911 concert vids. These guys sound just as good today as they did over forty yrs ago. Damn, it seems like just yesterday I tore the cellophane off the album and queued it up on the turntable. Good times.

  • Such a great song.

  • you could tell even old keith was touched by the moment... a real human side of richards.. he chokes up a bit when he is singing the opening to the song love him@

  • What a trip Keith is, gotta love him:) Great song, from Beggers Banquet, he did an awesome job.

  • Mick, you are the best!! Keith you still rock!! thank you for your support and love to our country the unique USA! and to our outstanding heroes now and for ever..God Bless You all.....Love New York....love from Hawaii.................ALOHA!!

  • me he preguntado porque amo tanto a los stones..y esta es una buena razòn, que letra..que mensaje...rolling stones foreverrrrr

  • Exquisite)

  • AWESOME!!! Salt Of The Earth!!!

  • Greatest concert of all-time, period!

  • perfect

  • Keith's just got so much more feeling to his singing..love him!

  • well said Mick. love this song, very appropriate.

  • Hear Mick singing at @2:14 .He's a great-it sounds like a mix of gospel and opera.

The verse is "Or don't they look so strange"

  • I think the Stones will do a 50th Anniversary tour in 2012, but by making his solo album, Mick is making Keith sweat it out a little after saying those mean things in his book.

  • @cracks21229 So that's Micks 'revenge' to Keith, haha. Maybe the Stones start touring in autumn 2012 and finish in the summer of 2013 in London. Fifty years after their first record came out. Full circle.

  • @cracks21229 Those guys have the ultimate love-hate relationship. I remember Keith saying that if Mick went on tour without the Stones, performing Stones work, he would kill Mick. Aw, bless....

  • @randomdave30 "I'll slit his throat" is the exact quote, I think. :)

  • @cracks21229 A long time ago, Keith said that about Mick. Mick said,,"Don't fuk with New York". NYC agreed!

  • @cracks21229

is Mick doing another solo album? i didn't know that, thanks. it's probably to get back at Keith for his book! his solo album songs may be his reply to all the things Keith said about him. but what Keith said about Mick was tongue in cheek, they've known each other forever and know how far to push each other. can't wait for a tour though. but will cost a fortune for a ticket. i work for the NHS, i don't own it!

  • @michelle88960 Listening to this great performance. Actually 2012 will be Mick and Keith's 50th. Charlie didn't come on board until '63.

Mick is doing a "project" called Super Heavy with Dave Steward (sp?), Bob Marley's son, and Joss Stone.

  • @cracks21229

thanks for that. interesting. Keith never liked Micks solo efforts. he called Micks last effort 'Goddess in the Doorway' 'dog s*t in the Doorway!

  • @michelle88960 Keith is also recording new music, with Steve Jordan. Probably the next X-Pensive Wino's record. So he told Jimmy Fallon on his show in May.

  • Let's take a drink, to the salt of the earth!

  • 凄みを感じる 最高 ミック、キース

  • @asahi4638 Tottally agree!!

  • Mick 'n Keef: The best partnership ever.

  • Keith is the best guitar player in the world, but Mick is definitely the spokesman.

  • so awesome keith

  • cuando fue esto! en que año fue??

  • Keith has those big white shoes on so he can keep an eye on his feet.

Sounds great with the big band

  • how true..great lyrics !!!

  • great lyrics

  • Legends at work.

  • U don't fuck with New York!

  • What does Mick say at 4:17.. "Let's drink to the two thousand___ ?????"

  • Comment removed

  • @annikee59

Let's drink to the two thousand million

  • Please!! What year was this???

  • @LizinLouie, the Concert for New York City was a benefit concert, featuring many famous musicians, that took place on October 20, 2001 at Madison Square Garden in New York City in response to the September 11, 2001 attacks. Many of the attendees were families and fellow members of the New York Fire Department and New York Police Department, honoring those lost in the attacks and those who had worked in the ongoing rescue and recovery efforts in the weeks since then.

  • @LizinLouie Umm 2001 when the towers fell...thus concert for new york...read the news

  • It was originally gonna be just Mick, then the lights went up and Keith was with him! Pretty cool.

  • luv it!

  • New York City has been good to the Stones and here they're giving back. Great musicians, great city. They both survive the rugged ups and downs life has to offer! Thanks for posting.

  • yeah keith is god of music!!!

  • KEITH, I SALUTE YOU!

  • Real Talent...Thanks for the video...

  • Note bowdlerization of lyrics:

    1) "Let's drink to the good NOT the evil"

    2) "They DO look real to me ..."

Great performance, but Nietzsche sez Tsk! Tsk!

  • genius!!

    appropriate song for that moment

  • mick!!!

  • Anyone know what kind of guitar Keith is playing? Looks like a Rickenbacker, but I know it isn't.

  • its a gibson sj-300 acoustic electric guitar, i have the same one

  • they maybe be quite old,but they r such a hard working band .true artists

  • Keith is God!

  • @jackrainman He must be to still be alive after all he's put himself through!

  • @jackrainman God of drugs!

  • @allseevid Keith is the healthiest guy in the world!

the heroin acted like an antibiotic over the years and he hasn't caught even a cold in the last 45 years!!

  • @TheTzdope Yep, you can tell by his face!

  • a person had wrote in the newspaper that another concert like this should be organized to help out families of the first responders who are feeling hard times, over 800 have died so far, 9 11 is still taking lives 8 years later sad to say

  • Good & Evil are both sides of the same bloody coin Keef 1:15.

You as a avid reader must know that.

If there was no 'evil' we would'nt know what was 'good".

Let's drink to both , or else not.

It'll never be utopia on this earth.

    Although.....for some......éhh ? ☺

    In the meantime....have some sympathy....

  • they changed some of the lyrics to make it more appropriate. i dont think any one would want to drink to evil (bin laden?) after 9/11

  • they are awesome, seriously, but anyone notice keiths problem with singing and playing at the same time? usually in songs like happy he lets mick taylor or ron take over while he sings. he seems to have the same problem as me. anyways great song, great performance.

  • Check out the x-pensive wino's, you'll see keith has no problem playing and singing at the same time.

  • hes keith richards though he fucking pulls it off playing and singing

  • He's been dead 16 years at this point too...AMAZING...:)

  • @nywilf ah ha ha ha haaaaaa. LOL

  • amazing !!

    Rolling Stones RULES !!!

  • oo!!! keith and mick r soo cute!!

  • and theyre also old men...

  • so...... their still sexy

  • He should have kept the hat. Bon Jovi did!

  • When I think of those firefighters going into those buildings when everyone else was trying to get out...and I hear this song, it truly brings a tear to my eye. NYC is the best and The Stones are the BEST.

  • RETIRED NYPD-I was there that night-Keith-Mick were terrific that night----I THINK THIS TOWN IS GOING TO MAKE IT--CLASSIC LINE---NYC LOVED THE STONES-AND THEY ALWAYS RETURNED THE FEELNG

  • changer pas les mecs reg nebbak stones for ever

  • 2001 look and sound great -- 5 years later look better and sound better at the super bowl!!

  • Once again the Glimmer Twins showed why The Stones were the world's greatest rock and roll band. Mick's talent and positive energy and Keef Riffhard's pure musicality.

  • i love this version...

    great!

  • I agree with dannyd1572 it would have meant a lot more and been a lot better with just Mick and Keith and not all the other stuff behind them(well maybe keep Paul Shaeffer on the piano) but once again it should have been done more seriously with just Keith and Mick and we really need to hear Keith sing more he is really a good singer no matter what. If you don't think so listen to him on Happy-yeah I know its many years old but it's still a great song!

  • Great music - Rolling Stones !

  • Could you imagine how emotional it would have been if it was just Mick & Keith Acoustic?

  • how many live versions this song had?

  • It has only been played live six times -in 1968 for Circus, 3 times with Guns & Roses' Axl & Izzy during Steel Wheels 1989, then in 2003 durin the Licks tour.

  • Though Mick and Keith are the greats, it all sounds a bit thin without Mr Charlie Watts.

  • Awesome performance...

  • mick jaggar and keith richards true artists

    rock legends

  • wow...what an awesome song and an awesome performance!!! Just the GREATEST "Band" in the world, even if they are only two there ;)

  • Ahhhh LOVE KEITH!

  • Notice what Mick Jagger says at the end. "If there's one thing to be learned from this (Sept 11, 2001)whole experience is "YOU DON'T FUCK WITH NEW YORK, OKAY!". Well said Mick!!!

  • Don't be ants at the picnic, arther...

LONG LIVE THE USA AND THE STONES!

  • Far as I can see, these are European artists praising New York City and the United States. And this Canadian would never fuck with New York City.

  • I noticed they changed the lyrics. It isn't a subtle insult to the blue collar worker anymore. It's now truly praise.

  • mick keith thankx for all the good music love yaa

  • Keith is the best, love the beautiful acoustic he is playing...looks like Roger Daltrey is playing the same one during the Who set. Also, Keith changes the lyric to the 'good NOT the evil'...instead of the original 'good and the evil'.

  • WHAT a CLASSIC! Hear those DAMn WordS????

    Fucking GREAT!!!!!

  • ....stop merely seeing with your eyes and begin NOW using your hearts to SEE!

    SS #012-46-3951

  • Hey guys, how 'bout we forget our differences of opinion, and instead wish Jagger a very happy 65th birthday, eh? How does that sound?

After all, he is by far the coolest person in the world.

  • is very good see the glimmer twins !

  • pyepye7 you are the biggest and greatest fucking stupid cunt on the planet brainless moron, pronoid idiot.

Keith and mick are non other than the most awesome people and the rest of the band that there ever has been and ever will be yeah and jb4427 right on man!

  • alright..thanks

  • Love this song-thanks for playing for free Paul, rock groups, Stones and caring for the USA, our 911 survivors and heroes. Thanks for posting this upload.

  • "If there's one thing to learn from this experience it's that you don't F##K with New York">>>>>>>>Jagger---great words at the end of the song.

  • yes...AMEN...to Mick on this one!

  • That was so great. I wish that they would play this song more often.

  • yeah and PyePye7, learn how to spell jackass.

it's pray, not prey, u damn fool!

  • rolling stones rulez!!!

  • Let´s drink ! to these old diamonds..

CHEERS! Keith, Mick, Ronnie, Charlie, Bill and Brian-CHEERS! John, Paul, George and Ringo.. so many, I´m drunk now, srry^^

  • You forgot Mick Taylor :)

  • Geez the stones have such an amazing array of classic songs.. And surely some of the most significant lyrics. "Salt" manages to be honest and heartfelt.

  • don't agree with ya Pye Pye. For the recors the song was recorded in 1968 when the stones were broke. Stones were also severely ripped off by Allen Klein from 63-70, hence you can see why Mick watches his dough. P.S Mick was the one who wrote Ronnie into Stones earnings in 89. Great song on a great album!

  • Thanks for uploading this-great song. Yes, Klein ripped off the Beatles too. They say Mick Jagger is the best/shrewdist rock and roller.(i.e. eyes on the dollar and attorneys). He did go to London School of Economics, and used that education!

  • This song was written and recorded over 35 yrs. ago as a song to the people of their humble beginnings. They don`t perform it very often--only a few times since it was recorded. Maybe they just wanted to do a special song for a special occassion, maybe, ever thought of that chance. Maybe they didn`t just want a "commercial calculation"--whatever that means at a benefit concert.

  • PyePye7 - when did you get out? Peace brother. You simply don't get it, do you? Both Mick and Keef are totally into this performance. But you will never get it because you are all caught up in that circle jerk in New Orleans right before the storm hit.

  • You're really a jackass.

  • PyePye, I agree to some degree with your trenchant analysis here but here's a suggestion of how to spend your evening: donate the 300 pounds that you've saved over your paltry lifetime and donate it to charity, then off you go, right down to the chemist, buy a straight razor, and slash your fucking wrists.

  • I have not been fooled Mr. Assfuck, either by the Stones or by your re-hashed, receycled trite bullshit. Of course the Stones are businessmen and they are artists as well. I believe this was a fairly sincere moment. What heppend to you PyePye? On the Dole, no job, no future, no friends, just the Internet, baby oil and a jizz rag for company?

  • TenneyMead-your style of polluting the Net just doesn't convince a man! Strutting your stuff you're showing the world you're an unqualified self righteous vulgar low life opportunist desperate to lift his deflated ego by spreading clichés of anal oriented substance without substance! Shut up or practise your cynicism in your own mudbath of your self-dismantled psyche! It ain't about the Stones anymore. I've said it before- you just don't know how to direct and control your garbage!

  • Christ, you are not only a fucking posing tosser but you are so bloody long-winded like "a tedious argument of insidious intent". Try another load of pablum shitbird but this time, 25 words or less.

  • Why the hell don't you two pussies exchange phone numbers and make deal with this person to person and spare the rest of us. You're nothing but a couple of cowards hiding behind your Youtube accounts.

  • Wow, rapier wit there hmnwilson, the unexpected homosexual insult was about as unexpected as a mensa candidate at a McCain rally. Paper or plastic, paper or plastic, paper or plastic, ask not for whom the bell tolls hmwwilson, the bell tolls for bringing you in from the yard.

  • that guy's right, nobody wants to read this shit while listening to an awesome song. why do you watch this if you don't like the stones? just shut up already.

  • hmnwilson - and you are an inbred piece of worthless Canadian flotsam

  • I' ll drink to that Never Forget

  • Doesn't Mick Jagger look like Don Knotts now?

  • You can tell that the grizzled, wizened clairvoyant Keith Richards was on the verge of tears during the intro.

  • three words... I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!

  • What a PERFECT tribute song!

Never saw Mick so sincere and real.

What to go Mick and Keith.

LOVED you before seeing this, love your MORE now.

  • ..."they look so real to me; ahh, they don't look so strange..."

Subtle yet very powerful lyric change; kudos to you, Mick. Well played, mate.

  • The Glimmer Twins at their best-great version. ig ather this was for post 9/11. This song is an underrated ANTHEM

  • The real Stoners!

  • I never heard them do this live aside from the Rock n' Roll Circus version with John Lennon. Very fitting song, and a great song from Beggars Banquet.

  • I gained a lot of respect for them from this performance. Plus I think Mick looks better than ever!

  • Keith. 'Nuff said.

  • The Golden Age come to life. Ever hear the Joan Baez cover?

  • Ya! I did...

heard it before The Stones version...

    on the "Blessed Are.." album...

  • Stole the fucking show

  • Thanks a bunch for posting man. Love this song and it's even better in this context. Mick and Keef forever,
