It's Columbia Pictures intro that was in the late 1970's and very early -80's, but with the Sony byline. Sony didn't own Columbia Pictures until November 8th, 1989 and they didn't the byline until they've resigned the opening in 1993.
It didn't just go retro once, but twice for this intro.
Its funny, but another movie Micheal Cera stared in, "Scott Pilgrim vs the World, also had an interesting movie logo intro; a awesome 8-bit "video-game" Universal Pictures logo.
@JesseL85719 The plot of "SuperBad does not take place in the 70's. It was in the 2000s. It was used because everything retro is cool again. Don't believe me, just go down to a Dodge dealer and check out a new
At least you see the Sony Pictures byline at the start when the logo begins, as it progresses there is a clockwise wiping effect to bring forth the movie's title screen just as the logo finishes out (the Columbia sunburst is all blue, even the name). The music you hear is Earth, Wind & Fire's "Shining Star."

I'll bet this logo was used because the plot takes place in the 1970s.

@ClassicTVMan1981X Actually, the music is "Too Hot to Stop" by the Bar-Kays.

@mtmusicman85
Then I am led to believe that whatever group, whoever's song came first, would accuse the other group of plagiarism.

@ClassicTVMan1981X While the two songs are very similar, Shining Star is more common- and different. I get it mixed up with this one too.

How come Sony didn't recreate this logo? They had the power, didn't they?
