  • I cant stand to watch indy car :/

  • did some one die?

  • @Ferrarifanlellewtc READ THE TITLE

  • danGtman is right people should have respect for people who have died

  • R.I.P

    Dan Wheldon

    You will be missed :(

  • The crash doesn't get any less horrific months after the event

  • i stopped watching this when i saw his name was spelled wrong.

  • The Wheldon accident report is out. As predicted, it's a whitewash job.

    w3*indycar*com/news/show/55-izod-indycar-series/51041-accident-report-cites-and-39-perfect-stormand-39/

    This is f-ing shameful.

  • Any one who is interested on an commentary on the accident, andand one by by Sir Jackie Stewart, check out Motorsport Vol.87 #12-currently out.

  • this is a reason to be alive

  • oh my gosh...it has only been a few weeks and it's loaded with views and comments!

  • YOU NOT EVEN GOING TO SPELL THE GUYS NAME RIGHT IN THE VIDEO TITLE??? SHOW SOME RESPECT

  • RIP Dan :(

  • 13th lap

  • wow this kind of crash on a stupid ring raceway? these drivers would suck some major dick in formula 1

  • @guitarrmasta you clearly know nothing about racing...

  • @123aellis you clearly need to learn more about racing and stop getting a boner with indy

  • @guitarrmasta

I'm a driver... and there's a lot of aspects to every type of racing... ovals may appear to be the easiest, but you can also say that they are the craziest, and sometimes on ovals the driver is on the limit much more often than on a road course... I've grown up racing open wheel cars on road courses all over the world - I respect drivers on ovals, you should too.

  • @123aellis nice, you sure know what youre talking about, im just more into turismo and endurance racing

  • @guitarrmasta Based on that comment, your comprehension of what is involved in driving an oval at 220 is about equivalent to that of a monkey looking at a wristwatch.

  • @almostfm umm ok now thats a smart comment... its ok i dont feel like having this conversation again and again... you just stick to your boring action-less racing

  • @guitarrmasta yo? whats your prob bro? almostfm has way more points than u! nascar is better than indycar and indy car is better than f1 y do you think we hear more bout nacar and indycar than f1? i agree that indy cars suck they need to be improved but...

  • @MrRyandagreat wow if you brought the official redneck sport to this conversation then you obviously have an incredibly bad taste for racing.. nascar shouldnt even be considered racing

  • @guitarrmasta they are way better than any indycar or f1

  • @MrRyandagreat lmfao... ok you have made your point, you like racing just to be a redneck and drink a couple of beers... nice now gtfo

  • @guitarrmasta Considering NASCAR to be a redneck sport is pretty ignorant. I'm far from being a hick, as a matter of fact I hate most hicks, but I watch NASCAR almost every weekend. Anyway this conversation has no place on Dan Wheldon's fatal accident. Wheldon was a great man with a heart of gold and he gave every race 110% no matter what equipment he had. Could have possibly been a two-time IndyCar champion and 3-time Indy 500 champion with Andretti next year. :( Rest In Peace Dan.

  • @F1V1 i agree with you... i still have no idea why rednecks brought nascar to this conversation

  • @guitarrmasta ok atleast i wont die in hell! bye!

  • @MrRyandagreat congrats

  • @guitarrmasta y thanks!

  • It creeps me out how they were on board with him when the crash started

  • We miss you Dan Wheldon, one of the greatest non US Indy driver of all time. Greetings from Sweden.

  • Oh thank you trusty commentator for telling me if Dan Wheldon died this whole time.

  • These races are so dumb and worthless - if accidents happen in these types of races, why have them at all? It's not worth it!

  • @loadstone007 why live at all if you never take a risk? many people die every day in traffik. wanna get rid of that too?

  • @dkzdnp If many people die every day in traffic, why add even more?? I don't see any reason with that.

  • @loadstone007 well sometimes accidents happen. you cant just stop doing things because it might go wrong. with that philosophy you'll end up doing nothing at all. id rather die doing something i love then die old and scarred of everything. we live to die and there is nothing to do about it. other then living a fun life ;)

  • @dkzdnp I'm not saying don't live, but rather live responsibly. You can still have fun and be safe.

  • @loadstone007 well thats true. and its not like they dont try to make this sport safe. but no matter how much safety you put into these things theres still a risk of deadt invovled. but that doesnt necessarily mean you shouldnt do it.

  • @dkzdnp only thing you can do is find a way to decrease it from happening. that is the only way you can do it. start with the cockpit. seems to be the most dangerous part of the car. since they dont have that much protection unlike nascar.

  • This guy was a moron, and all the other drivers are too.

  • the scary thing is when the TT is on 2 deaths per avent is the sad and tragic normality sometimes. makes me think how great and brave these riders and drivers are to do what they do, specialy at the TT.

    R.I.P Dan

  • After seeing the live MotoGP race at Sepang last night, this is a huge difference in commentating. I'm aware that the commentators have to keep talking, but it seems to me like maybe they weren't aware just how bad this was. The GP commentators were very sombre, & barely spoke, but seeing a rider lay motionless is probably a little more obvious as to the outcome.

My thoughts go out to both Dan & Marco's families. Two tragedies in such a short space of time. What a loss to the motorsport family.

  • its horrible and unfair. Dan didnt even cause that crash and he was the one that had to pay the price. First Dan now Marco, Motorsport it a deadly sport. I'd hate to imagine what will happen next. Possibly strike F1

  • R.I.P. Ride in Peace.

  • Flaming Crapwagons of death. :(

  • @jooljetkmae To Will Power I say, no shit!!! If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen.

  • Anyone dumb enough to drive 350km for a living is an idiot.

  • @JDM1ASOT Did you ever think someone who flies airplanes or goes into them for transportation which go faster than 350km are idiots too?

  • Shame they were talking about him when he crashed.

    R.I.P

  • ˝looks like dan whelon may bee involved in the crash˝ you have no idea how right you are

  • Sad outcome, big big Indy fan myself, way to many open wheel cars entering a high bank turn, almost right after top speed.

  • This is the fourth video I've looked at on the crash & theres at least one dickhead making a disrespectful comment to a man who died. Why? Maybe their parents did teach them any RESPECT, instead got raped at a young age & now wants attention like a little boy on You Tube.

  • #3 R.I.P. brings back some bad memories

  • @flipnoteLucario -- Honestly, that entire day played out almost exactly like the day Dale died.

  • @Nascarboy426 No one expected Dale to die after his crash until we were told. But this crash, it's amazing that five people didn't get killed. Thank God it didn't happen.

  • too bad he died by idioicy rather than a air to surface missile from a chinese fighter bomber

  • @ChesterDoraemon What a dumb ass comment.

  • @bovestrian dumb ass? only dumbass is the albino that got burned into a negro. i hope he got a chance to get used to the heat in that race car, because he's going to have to deal with it for eternity in hell!

  • now that's entertainment!

  • @p3ntagrams too early man, too early.

  • @p3ntagrams you are a absolute fucking retard... Fuck ff and get some respect and then come back

  • @MrLihera That's just my opinion. The dude knew what he signed up for. No pain no gain, glory comes with a hefty price tag

  • As an indy car fan since the late 50s there have been many crashes and deaths involved, Wheldon, as tragic as it may be, was not the first nor will he be the last. The possiblity of death and great injury is present every time the Green flag falls.

  • And btw... race commentators sucks!

  • One thing what i am afraid of is that they dont use red flag right away!

  • thanks too the orange bastard. who tried to pit one of the cars.

  • Comment removed

  • why would any sick individual acutally 'Like' This video lol?

  • Dan Wheldon Died like a champion. may rest in peace. The racing is on.

  • @Helotes420 your argument is invalid cuz of the simple question I asked that you still have not answered. If a cooking chief cuts himself while cooking,is it considered to be an accident.Using your logic it wouldn't be since HE CHOSE to cut the tomatoes or whatever he happened to be cutting.BUT if thats true then that would mean there is no such thing as an accident because in every action someone had to have chose to do it and if they chose it, then it's not an accident, thats foolish thinking.

  • @Helotes420 And you're missing my point, he did choose to drive fast BUT the purpose of a race isn't to kill yourself. The purpose of driving fast on this track is to win first place. And when something doesn't according to plan, such as what just happened here, that is the true definition of accident so in turn, YES this is an accident. You can't argue what the true meaning is. Him crashing and dying isn't the purpose of the race so it's an accident, it's as simple as that.

  • I don't like sports that involve vehicles, and that's my opinion, but it's still sad to see a good human being pass away at that young age. All those who are happy that he passed are NOT good human beings.

  • @danielSHiM11 what kind of sports do you like then?

  • I've been reading things that said Dan never lifted off the throttle, those are 100% false because you can clearly hear him lifting as the crash began in front of him. RIP Dan.

  • @gbpckr50 yeah, you're right. he tried to stop, but couldn't.

  • @gbpckr50 He may have lifted, but did you ever stop to think he may have got back on it, or maybe he had brake failure. What do you think?

  • How do you enable speed change on your own videos?

  • R.I.P. Dan Wheldon. I was there when the accident happened. I couldn't believe my eyes. I really thought this was a dream. Then reality set in and it hit me. God bless him and his family. His legacy will live on!

  • Why is every comment I read on here either offensive, spam, arguments, or asshats that just write to piss people off. And for the good people who actually wrote something nice, I thank you. R.I.P Dan

  • I am not sure, but i think around 0:33 you can see dan wheldon's car with a "helmet" missing.....RIP

  • You people are amazing. The man died and has a wife and a son that might someday read your heartless and insensitive comments. Why would you talk about someone you don't even know personally. Grow up! ...

To Dan's family and friends I am sorry for your lost and my prayers go out to you.

  • RIP

  • Comment removed

  • @Helotes420 'I' don't get what an accident is? LOL. Coming from a person that says that this video wasn't an accident, which it clearly was.

Oh and PS, you know someone's won an argument when the other person starts getting off topic and just starts insulting the other. So thank you for that insult! =D

  • i pee on the side of the toilet to make it quieter...

  • This is what people pay to see.

  • "It looks like Dan Wheldon MAY be involved in the crash"

  • @ChubbsThePenguin watch :27, Wheldon's car just flew 200 yards and hit a wall. He burnt alive and was crushed, the most gruesome death in sports history. 310 dislikes? Way to honor him you heartless fucks.

  • @ChubbsThePenguin Maybe they're disliking the fact that he crashed?

  • @ChubbsThePenguin he wasn't burned to death, he was killed as result of blunt force to head... but who cares? RIP Dan.

  • @ChubbsThePenguin ... he was not "burnt alive". They wear too much protection for that short fire to burn him alive. He died from massive blunt force trauma to the head when his cockpit hit the fence.

  • Which car is his?

  • @xXKhaoticRinoXx The one who hit another car and did a wheelie for a second. Then hit another car and did a barrel roll and hit the fence on the cockpit's car.

  • @dunnlapradd The one that looks like it totally broke in half?

  • unfortunately the black car at :27 that launches over the tire of a slower car

  • Any stockcar fan knows that these cars do NOT belong on high-banked ovals. And with speeds of +230MPH? ridiculous! There is no margin for error? What posessed the organizers of this event to load the field with even more cars is more criminal.

It used to be that people watched NASCAR to see the 'BIG' one...now, the thrill is seeing the BIG one and seeing drivers walk away from them...sadly, indy racing has learned a valuable lesson at an UNACCEPTABLE PRICE!

  • @scales57 I agree. Racing open wheelers on ovals is insane.

  • he probably shouldhave worried less about dirty air and more on his life

    rip

  • @teodonnell0 you are an idiot.

  • @Helotes420 lol. ok I was being sarcastic =P

You truly can not comprehend the meaning of accidents happen. A parent of young children could be working at an office desk at a business, seems like a it isn't a dangerous place, BUT look what happened to the World Trade Center! People with ordinary jobs that seem to be at a risk free environment, at times, still get injured or killed. because of ACCIDENTS! Things that don't go according to plan! Using your logic a parent shouldnt work at all!!!

  • Wonder wats so cool racing 200 laps only making right turns.....

  • @blobsta24 They're making left turns, not right. #Facepalm

  • @CannibalDave . Hi, I meant no disrespect to the American public, I could have worded it better, I just couldnt believe some of the comments on here. We dont see much Indy Car racing over here and I was gobsmacked at the number of cars in the race and the speed. I got annoyed reading some of the crass posts people were putting on here and it made me angry. If I caused you any offence I apologise my friend. I have a few friends in the US and would dearly like to visit your great country one day.

  • @BigBloke63 Hey man, it's all good. And you're right, there are a ton of crass posts on here, which is really disappointing to see.

  • Oh My!

    (Whispers) He's Dead

    @0:35

    Gives me the Creeps!

  • An article in USA TODAY put it best: IndyCar should not be racing at tracks designed for NASCAR stock cars sontimes going up to 50-60 MPH slower."

Sums it up. IndyCar on High Banks = no let up = deadly big ones.

  • Did they ever determine what caused this crash?

  • @Dilandau88 the orange red car why up front had eitehr got cliped or just wanted to change postions anyway he had got side ways in front of another car and hit the wall the debre slowed every else down Dan ran into the other car shorty after the the news cam turned off of him

  • rip dan

  • He died doing what he loved.

  • @counterclockwise123 what crashing!?

  • @holytroz I believe he was racing at the time of the crash.

  • Look up "I want your gina girl"

  • @MrSmegmah Hey, YOUR GONNA POST THAT BULL SHIT ON HERE WHEN U PROBABLY HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT RACING AND SOMEONE I DEAD BECAUSE OF THIS?!?!?!? HOW ABOUT YOU GROW THE FUCK UP! YOUR A WOTHLESS PIECE OF SHIT!

  • @paymay387 ... your profile picture is of boobs mister mature

  • There is nothing you can do when something like that happens. Wheldon was going about 200 MPH through turn 1 and that huge pack of cars in front of him slowed down because of the incident causing him to hit a group of cars on the bottom of the track and go airborne into the fence. I'm sure he tried to slam on the breaks when he realized what was happening and it looks like his wheel is all the way to the left but I might be wrong. If he went to the high side he might have survived the crash.

  • This crash is gonna be as infamist, as the crash that took the life of Dale earnhardt, in the Daytona 500 2001 race.

  • STUPID SPORT !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • haveing looked a the footage a dozen times dan wheldan had 3 seconds to react from when he saw the tyre smoke .i reckon all the cars in front of him braked hard and dan unfortunatley only lifted off the gas peddle.rip peace dan

  • @willpym1 One of the other cars that got a lot of air was #30, Pippa Mann. She was lucky though, didn't hit the wall and got away with minor burn injuries. Same for Will Power.

  • @Helotes420 As I have pointed out accidents happen, with your point of view on this people like Pilots shouldn't have a family ? Police officers ? Soldiers? Pilots die in airplane crashes, police officers die getting shot, etc. From your point of view these are the people that should get a "real job"....... man. you've got a fucked up point of view.

  • Please, stop car racing. It's monotonous, a waste of fuel, and this shows that is can even be fatal. Look, I'm aware some people think of it as tradition and an American sport, but it just isn't worth some losing lives and many more being traumatized by crashes like this. I mean no harm or ignorance saying this, I just don't want people to die when it could easily have been prevented.

  • Learn to spell his fucking name.

  • will power's car so much damage but yet he survived, thanks god.

  • This fatal accident reminds us motor racing is STILL dangerous. Dale Earnhart, Ayrton Senna, and now Dan Wheldon.

  • Right after you here the Whisper " he`s dead" the moderator says: " It looks like Dan Wheldon may be involved in it" ... = (

  • I've been thinking the same as ChrJahnsen's comments all morning as far as safety... This is basically a Titanic moment - a lot of bad risks that aren't individually terrible but turn catastrophic when aligned just right. Some of this tragedy is bad luck (wheel-to-wheel contact, airborne, touched by another car and slammed back into the track and wall and fence just the wrong way) but I agree, the problem with ovals (and especially banking) is no runoff, collects more cars into THE BIG ONE.

  • :'(

  • For two main reasons:

    1. speeds at ovals reach insane levels. Average speeds at Las Vegas are 220 mph = 354 km/h! When you crash, you can only pray that you hit the wall at a lucky angle.

    2. cars that crash do not leave the track but gets hurled back into traffic. It is a recipe for disaster.

All real racing fans realise that ovals make for fantastic spectating, since you can follow any car you want all around the track. However, as long as there are ovals, we'll see more of this, I'm afraid.

  • I am a huge Formula 1 and Indy follower, and I think Indycar in some ways is better then F1, mainly because they all drive the same car. Good drivers really stand out here. Also, in some ways, Indycar has had many safety features that it has taken F1 decades to copy!

However, I read a lot of articles blaming the track of Las Vegas for this incident and others blamimg the fencing. However, many have dies from hitting the wall period. The fact is that ovals are much much more dangerous (cont.)

  • Tragic. A great loss.

  • @theduderwiggysan too bad you and your ugly children aren't dead :/

  • wow...

  • Try to look at the bright side in everything. At least he died doing what he loved to do.

    RIP

  • @wangobangodango Go die.

  • why there are so many "likes"?

  • was probably text messaging.

  • Shouldn't there be like a guardrail that bends along with the force of impact like on many motorways in mountainous regions and in F1 racing in stead of a concrete razorblade. Don't tell me science can't come up with solutions for ovals, even if it reduces the impact a little bit, he may have still been alive

  • @geert574 theres no proof that putting guardrails would make a difference. at those speeds its all chance. this kind of thing happens all the time in F1/izod those cars are made to go fast. its hard to make it 'as safe' as possible when the car only weighs so much going so fast.

  • @geert574 they do have something. they're called safer barriers which is metal padded by foam outside of the concrete. They were created after Dale Earnhardt's death. So yeah, effectively they DO have guardrails around the track, and they're pretty effective. The problem is that Weldon's car went into the catch fence ABOVE the barrier, which is designed more to keep cars on the track and not to soften the impact, and he went into it cockpit first. Not sure what can be done about that.

  • I am not going to put like or dislike to this video because it would be inappropriate. In general I dislike the video because another great racing driver lost his life in this crash. I like this video because it reminds us all that the dangers of racing are still very real, and because of this horrible accident Indy car is stepping up their efforts to increase safety in these cars. Dan will be greatly missed in the world of racing and his memories will live on in all of us.

  • Well maybe if they didn't race in a fucking circle!

  • Dan Wheldon Died like a champion.may his soul rest in peace. The racing spirit is on.

  • More reason to stop stupid circle racing

  • The moment I saw the driver - at about 0:51 in or so - jump out of his car and run down the hill towards what turned out to be Dan Wheldon's car .. I immediately flashed to Kenny Schrader running towards Dale Earnhardt's car when Dale passed in 2001. I also flashed to when Greg Moore passed at Fontana years back. I was so hoping things would be alright. I guess the small bright spot is Dan didn't look to have suffered, it happened so quickly. God bless him and his family. He will be missed.

  • @Wizzardgirl It wasn't quick, he died in the hospital not on the course.

  • @DStrike0083 No, Im just saying no one is suprised a driver died in a Indy Car race because of the extreme dangers that com with being a pro race car driver

  • To any sick person that laughs or says something rude t him or about the crash can fuck off! he was doing what he loved and for you to put shame on him or his family you deserve to be hit by a train, Grow the fuck up and get a life dont criticize a man fr is passion. Now full respect to all the other graceful ppl that truly car RIP Dan

  • @TheWillis1237 IM WITH YOU RIP DAN THESE RETERDS ARE THE REASON THE WORLDS DOOMED GOD REST YOUR SOUL

  • that's what you get for driving a jap car. if he drove American this wouldn't happen

  • @DStrike0083 PRICK HOPE A BUS RUNS YOU DOWN YOU SICK BASTARD OR THE ONE YOU LOVE . MAYBE THEN YOU CAN EDUCATE YOURSELF ABOUAT GREIVING FAMMILIES ....DAN DA MAN ..AMERICAN INDY 500 WINNER . A GREAT AND HOUNORABLE BRIT R.I.P YOU WILL BE MISSED BY MANY

  • I really detest the way the morons that run IndyCar are trying to see it as " open wheel NASCAR" when it can't be that. How many more must die (more will if changes are not made, a head hitting a catch fence equals death everytime).

NASCAR at it's fastest might get near 200mph, IndyCar is hitting 220. A big one in NASCAR is generally all bark, in IndyCar it's cars bouncing if the catch fence 10ft off the ground.

  • @Zoomer30 NASCAR actually has a couple tracks where speeds approach 215MPH, but only for a few seconds a lap.

  • being a retired race car driver and superbike racer I feel for dans family........I stopped racing once I had a family ....I still cant believe this happened.....I still remember when dale died....racing is great but the media pushes the limits of what a car or person can do...

  • terrible. right now is not time to spread blame. changes will be made that will hopefully prevent similar things from happening. they are now in off season so there is time to make changes before next year. god bless you, dan wheldon.

  • What was the cause of death?

  • @StrawhatLeo "Blunt force trauma to the head"

  • @PukingEverywhere Wait... He's British, not a nigger.
