PRO TIP: to get obsidian safely and 100% chance of getting it make a 1x1 hole beside the block and put water in it so when you do mine the obsidian even if theres lava the water will put it out before the obsidian falls in. works up to 87 squares before you must move the water!!!

It's not too easy to get obsidian tools because you need diamond in the first place to actually mine it.
