@histguy101 It's not an oxymoron, it's an ideology that came about even before the American concept of "libertarian." It means an economic system wherein people are free to own property and live as they please, and the economic means of production are owned collectively by the workers. For example, a bakery would be owned and operated by the bakers, and decisions would be made democratically. Do some research on it, Wikipedia is a great source.

the rich arent really taxed-thats the problem. How would u tax the rich w/o affecting the poor-a luxury, like a yacht? the rich can choose to buy a yacht or not, it doesn't matter, so their demand is elastic-if the price rises, they wont buy.The yachtmakers spend long periods of time making each yacht,&changing the factories to do something else would be costly&time consuming-so the supply is inelastic.Since who has the least elasticity pays most of the tax, the yachtmakers pay most of the tax
Let the economy alone, get rid of socialist healthcare and medicare, and let the free market system go through it's natural cycles of growth and recession.
y r people so against rich people? what makes someone evil for being successful? I mean come on! The reality is is that rich people make up for most of our economy and when they cant pay 4 stuff we are screwed. When rich people cant pay we are screwed over and just taxing them out the wazzoo will only make it worse
The economic stimulus did work. it created 1.4 to 3.6 million jobs and essentially stopped us from digging us any farther into the economic hole. it also pays for 40% of itself and the rest is taxes on the rich. (which most people wouldn't object to), the healthcare bill worked to pay for itself and will reduce the deficit by 1.3 trillion dollars over the course of the next 20 years. The hc bill also doesn't include death panels and doesn't insure undocumented workers. Obama is doing great.
@anniettgirl1996 but economists did read the entire bill, as well as obama. Most people in the government did know what was in the bill without reading it and they got it from people who actually read the bill (like obama).
@anniettgirl1996 if he didn't read it then he would not be able to pass it through congress. Presidents HAVE to read the bills they pass. saying that he didn't read the bill would be fairly ignorant considering he helped come up with the provisions.
@tj012345678901234567 Regardless of whether or not Obama's read the bill (and I don't think he has) ,many haven't. Nancy Pelosi said that the bill should be passed so we could know what's in it.
@anniettgirl1996 That's not the point. The people that have read the bill have told people that haven't what's in it. The economists that have made the figures have read the bill so the figures are accurate. The figures came directly from the source of the economist so there is little bias, all numbers. From this we can conclude that the bill was a good thing and everyday the economy gets better and better.
Paying taxes, feeds 43 million on food stamps, pays for Schools, Poilce, Fire, You apartment rent if they "Work with you." In oklahoma we have Soonercare with 860 K people on it, all ran buy taxes. We have too many people running on taxes right now, life has been hard! The national debt is payed by taxes. The hover dam was made by taxes. The poor does not have a lot to be taxed so tax for the rich.
But the rich don't pay taxes the poor runs out of food. Rich don't run out of food it taxed!
People tend to forget that the economic slump happened when the Republicans were in power for eight years.
And forget that the stimulus prevented thousands of teachers from being laid off and provided more student loans for college students which helped push perhaps millions more into college.
And forget his education reform for many states benefiting children.
Tighter credit card rules for greedy credit card companies, and so much more than I'm allowed to write here.
@wsaysfgh People, this seems to includes you, also tend to forget that it was in the end of bush's presidency, last 2 years, that things really went downhill and that in those last 2 years the Democrats had control of Congress. So in reality the democrats had control for 4 years now and things have only gotten worse, including our debt. Spending tons more money when we are in debt is NEVER a decision an intelligent and responsible person would come to without abandoning, such characteristics.
at the End of the day ALL POLITICIANS are like DIAPERS OR NAPPY S, they all need to be changed frequently because, eventually THEY'LL ALL be FULL OF SHIT!!
Throw money on the fire! Who started the fire? Bush?? I think Obama is trying to get us out of the fire! I don't want us to go like Rome! I don't mind paying more taxes. That is how a state works. "I like to pay taxes. With them I buy civilization."
@walmartramen Please explain how spending more and starting incredibly complex and ostly programs helps fix a huge debt then. Can you do that? Paying taxes is a part of being a citizen, yes, however that doesn't mean you need to keep slowly paying more and more. Why isn't what we pay enough? Why can't we keep what money we worked for? Politicians should learn how to spend the money they have, not beg for/steal more of our money like irresponsible children whenever anything goes wrong.
@walmartramen Yeah! Well I do mind... so since yours is only one vote, and mind is also only one vote... We get to compromise... Too bad, neither side is willing to do it, yet! Of course, once this country is ruble, and there is nothing to fight over... then we will sit down. The story of human kind.
i know put that that 700 billion or what ever it was put it in the education system so companys will have CEOs that arent stupid and send the country into a finacial crisis.
@linkbowser5able I was referring to the town of Grammer in Indiana. Implying that some of the money could go towards developing small towns as well as education.

ParkorSkidi! (cool name btw) The gov can just print more money! But then it will go down in value 0_0. It will take a bale of greenbacks to buy a loaf of bread! (now why is that familiar?..) I am amazed by the number of people on this thread who use facts and figures... could the infamous ever-impassiond and normally vulgar comment-posters of youtube be redeeming their reputation? Win!
America is headed for a major collapse in financial and political infrastructure. What happens when the government has no more money left to spend. Who will pay the military, police, social services? The stimulus money should have been used to create economy and workplaces like in the trickle down theory.

Yesterday David Leonhardt of the New York Times looked at the budget from 2009 through 2012, and tried to figure out what had changed in those years since 2001. He found that the business cycle accounted for 37% of the higher red ink. More than half came from legislation signed by President Bush. Seven percent came from Obama's stimulus bill, and only three percent from his regular budget. I guess the guys from WYOTK didn't fact check when they said "Obama set a new record in deficits".
Do you live under a rock? Either that or you actually believe the spin in the "article" you read. Bush signed into legislation record budget increases.. This much is true, and completely against all fiscal conservative values. However in just one year President Obama has nearly TRIPPLED the record spending that Bush left behind. Bush doubled spending, Obama trippled Bush's record. Both are wrong, and both are hurting our economy.
Here are some facts that they didn't mention on fox news !According to the CBO, spending increased by 24 percent from fiscal year 2008 to 2009 — the largest increase since 1952.
Much of that increase is the result of big-ticket items enacted in 2008, including $133 billion for (TARP) and $291 billion for bailing out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Obama tacked on an additional $115 billion in stimulus spending in 2009. Other items were a bill to fund the wars in Iraq(bush) and Afghanistan(bush)
@matthewmwoody being consistent is tough so, remember that the Democrats had control since 2006. Obama voted for every "big ticketed" spending Bill in his short term as a US Senator.
So you're saying that the Iraq war was the Democrats fault? That's funny! It doesn't matter what Congress does, the president can veto any bill that comes across his desk. But of course we know Bush had the lowest amount of vetoes of any modern president. If the Democrats are the party of big government, the Republicans are the party of bigger government. Both parties are to blame! So you Republicans or Democrats should know your history.
Thanks for throwing that fox news comment in there. I haven't been accused of actually watching television, much less Fox in almost a month. I guess it's a good thing I don't actually form my own opinions based on reality instead of reading biased newspapers, and watching biased news programs. It seems you really don't see your own sources spin, so there's not much of a point in explaining. I'll try. The source is comparing 8 years to 1. ...cont...
... When the dust settles on the stimulus, and other various programs Pres. Obama has put into action, the records will not be denied. During Bush's tenure he doubled the national defecit spending bringing us to just over 2.5 trillion. So far the projected increase under Obama is already over 6.5 trillion. That only includes bills already passed. If you include things like cap and trade, Obamacare, etc. then economists project a possible defecit spending bill of 13.9 trillion by 2014.
So let me get this straight, President Bush didn't sign into law the tarp program? From The Michigan messenger and independent newspaper By Ed Brayton 12/12/08 2:38 PM
The Bush administration has reversed its position in the wake of the Senates failure to pass an auto bailout bill and is now willing to use money from the $700 billion TARP fund to help the Big Three automakers survive.
Wow, I hope you're not old enough vote, we already have enough idiots running the government.
Wow it's kind of sad how predictable you folks on the left really are. Almost as predictable as those on the right. I'm NOT defending the Bush administration. I'm also clearly NOT defending the Obama administration. Both had or have had many problems, and neither is barred from blame. You are simply defending something that shouldn't be defended and you deserve to be called out on it. Obama is NOT the president we needed, and we will likely pay for his election for a long time. (Economically)
One more thing you need to be called out about... Your ad-hominem attacks on me only serve to make you look like a fool with a baseless argument. It would behoove you to leave those out if you plan to respond.
Oh so when you asked me if I "lived under a rock"? You were trying to further the argument? And you can call me left winger if you want to( I voted for Texas republican Ron Paul in the primarys) . I'm not defending bush or Obama, I didn't vote for either! But I will point out to republicans the fact that they were in control of the government for six years and grew the government. You stated that the stimulas package was obama's, bush signed the tarp legislation. Know you're history!
I do remember when Bush signed TARP, but I also remember when Obama signed his own "Stimulus" bill, and when he signed "cash for clunkers" which failed miserably. I wish Paul got more support, and I was dissappointed when he dropped before the Texas primary because I didn't get to vote for him. I didn't vote in the previous election either, and I don't plan on voting until a candidate can prove that he's not the same as the minds running this country for the past 80 years.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. So you think we should elect a Republican and that will fix the problem? During the eight years of Bush we suffered the greatest terrorist attack on American soil, a downturn in the economy, and you think we should place another Republican in office? , I voted for Ron Paul, more of a libertarian. But the Republican Party went with McCain. Too bad they don't stick to principles
Actually, (& please don't take me as a left-winger or progressive because I promise you Im conservative much like you seem to be) Bush new about what was coming with 911 because believe it-or-not, behind the cines, all his family, the Rodem/ Clintons, & newcomer Obamas, are more closely-knit than is shown behind the media in a set of powerful organizations bent on globalization of a one world order. Here, look up anything on Alex Jones & Obama here on Youtube. I used to be a staunch Republican
& was all for Bush because unlike Obama, he seemed to be a humble man of God.....but things are not always what they seem kjcarpenter1221....& looking into what this man I am talking to you about is just like going down the rabbit hole.....once you get to far it'll be to far to turn back....I promise you I am not making this up.
Wow, you fox news rush limbaugh republicans need to leave the politics to people with brains. President Bush will leave office as one of the most unpopular departing presidents in history, according to a new CBS News/New York Times poll showing Mr. Bush's final approval rating at 22 percent.
Seventy-three percent say they disapprove of the way Mr. Bush has handled his job as president over the last eight years. When the job was done the American public said Bush sucked! Also was pres on 911?
No I don't think putting a republican in office solely based on the principle that "he's not a democrat" is the answer. I think nothing will ever change until the american people realize that we've put the wrong people in power for nearly a century. I think the answer is a true conservative. One who believes in less government, less military spending, and less restrictions on private life. I think the people should be allowed to govern themselves to some extent.
You say you support "less restrictions on private life" and For people to "govern themselves". So you're against the drug war, against anti-abortion legislation, and support he freedom of gays to marry? That does not sound like a conservative to me!
Then you don't know what a true conservative is. Yes all of those things you just mentioned are hot button topics for me. I'm staunchly against the drug war that has cost our country billions of dollars, and years of strife yet to come. I'm also opposed to any regulations on the restrictions to choose abortion. I'm also for the "civil union" between two people of undefined sex. I'm a conservative in the truest form. I don't allow my values to govern other people.
I consider myself a true conservative because I vote for people who don't support the drug war, support a wmans right to chose, and don't think the government should be involved in marriage. Unfortunately the republican party puts McCain and Sarah stupid on their ticket and call themslves conservative. But as you mentioned you and I believe in true conservatism, but republicans don't stick to the principle of conservatism. Too bad.
It is too bad, and I don't believe in choosing the "lesser of two evils" either. Unfortunately we, as a country, will not make any true progress until we elect someone who will stand up for the people as the office of president was meant to. Obama is not that person, and neither would a republican be that person. If we need any kind of new regulations by the government it is on the election process. Corporate favoritism is far too prevalent in our election process.
It does not matter who you put in charge of the government, the way the system is set up, there will always be corruption. The problem is the government! It's time to shrink government down to doing only one thing, protecting the American from the government. But how can anyhing protect the same thing it opresses?
@IDislikeTheWorld actually the root word of a liberal Is liberty. People should have the liberty to do drugs if they choose. Women should have the liberty to have an abortion. People should have the liberty to own guns. The word liberal has been redefined to mean a person who supports entitlement programs which has nothing to do with liberty. It's like the word socialism. Right wingers claim to hate socialists while supporting the world's biggest socialist program the US military.
@matthewmwoody First of all not all right wingers agree on everything. Second the military is one of the few original purposes a government had. Anyways, America is about liberty and should be as long as said liberty doesn't directly intrude on another's liberty/rights. That is why abortion is an issue. In the case of rape and physical ailments, it may make sense to kill an unborn baby, or the potential for one, however I believe most people had the liberty to choose to have sex.
@matthewmwoody We have the liberty/right to choose however that doesn't excuse us from the consequenses. You did the action the creates life and is designed to, don't be surprised you have a baby on the way. Why shouldn't you have to have consequences for your choices?
I quoted the New York Times and the congressional budget office, you have quoted no one but yourself! If my sources are laughable than your lack of sources makes you insane. Have a nice day in fantasyland.
the CBO no creditability haha. From the Washington times
"Under questioning by members of the Senate Budget Committee, Douglas Elmendorf, director of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, said bills crafted by House leaders and the ..."
Now your going to say that the NY times, the Washington Times, and the CBO have no creditability, but you who hasn't bothered to provide any "documented facts" is credible and it's "not you're opinion" I think you should look up the word opinion! HAHA
@matthewmwoody the entire washington political system is corrupt.when it comes to the washington times, and the ny times there only real ues would be...lining for the bottom of a bird cage, nothing more. how many times has the cbo been right with budget estimates? never. the budget estimates are only as good as the numbers, and the numbers presented by congress are BS.you need to look up nieve fool. don't bother replying, i'm done with this pointless conversation.
Everyone else is wrong and your correct? And I'm the fool? The only people who dispute cbo numbers are freedomworks, a organization funded by right wing big oil and banks(do your research)! Also, use is a very easy word to spell, only an idiot would mess that up. Your right, this is pointless, you have no brain!
Ben Bernanke once publicly stated in 2006 that he was not ready to tap into the working capital. Shortly after the Dow Jones Industrial shot up over 14,000 points.
The 500 point intraday decline was a sure indicator to some of us...Yes?
President Bush walked into a big pile of shit early in his career.
Hmm, President Bush inherited a budget surplus of $128 billion when he took office in 2001 but has since posted a budget deficit every year. When he left office he had a record 428 billion dollar deficit (lol) that's not actually funny because it's true:( I guess republicans aren't the party of small government!
During the eight year bush administration the democrats had a majority in congress the last 2! Also bush was in charge for all eight! He has to approve the budget! Until you stop watching rush, Sean hannity, glen beck and bill o'riley you will never learn the truth! The blame it on democrats ideology is a tool the republicans use to win elections and fool people to believe that the rnc is about small government and personal liberty. 99% of politicians are corrupt on some level!
During the eight year bush administration the democrats had a majority in congress the last 2!
It was 3.2. Round the numbers out and you have three years.
I haven't watched tv in over ten years.
Every now and then I'll step in and watch 2 n' a half men. I wouldn't say I know Rush Limbaugh but I know of him. The other three names you through out there ... I really don't care much for but I am sure in one way or anoter, I'am going to get an ear full about them...Yes?
I don't know where your getting your facts, but you are completly wrong! The democrats took control of congress during the Nov. 26 th 2006 election. The elected officials don't take office until Jan. Of the next year 2007. Bush left office in Jan 2009. Excatly 2 years! I thought they taught this stuff in 7th grade American history, I guess you don't take that class for a couple of years?
I guess if someone proved that I didn't know anything about the topic at hand I would want to change the subject too! Have a wonderful day, and please stop voting and participating in political system! We already have way too many uninformed messing it up for everyone else!
A measurement date up to three months prior to the fiscal year end was permitted under SFAS 87. SFAS 158 eliminated the use of an early measurement date effective for years ending after December 15, 2008. This gives companies additional time after the new standards implementation to synchronize actuarial and financial reporting. Early adoption of this provision is encouraged.
Technology has out done mankinds' ability to comprehend all the static. Ken Lay is alive somewhere. He was GW's #1 contributor. To my knowledge no one saw him after his so called death! Peoples work, tax payers ans alike are feel good catch phases for me, myself and screw the public!

@tj012345678901234567 Regardless of whether or not Obama's read the bill (and I don't think he has) ,many haven't. Nancy Pelosi said that the bill should be passed so we could know what's in it.
anniettgirl1996 1 year ago

People just love to hate.

I guess the guys from WYOTK didn't fact check when they said "Obama set a new record in deficits".
matthewmwoody 2 years ago
Do you live under a rock? Either that or you actually believe the spin in the "article" you read. Bush signed into legislation record budget increases.. This much is true, and completely against all fiscal conservative values. However in just one year President Obama has nearly TRIPPLED the record spending that Bush left behind. Bush doubled spending, Obama trippled Bush's record. Both are wrong, and both are hurting our economy.
sedatedlife18 2 years ago
Here are some facts that they didn't mention on fox news !According to the CBO, spending increased by 24 percent from fiscal year 2008 to 2009 — the largest increase since 1952.
Much of that increase is the result of big-ticket items enacted in 2008, including $133 billion for (TARP) and $291 billion for bailing out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Obama tacked on an additional $115 billion in stimulus spending in 2009. Other items were a bill to fund the wars in Iraq(bush) and Afghanistan(bush)
matthewmwoody 2 years ago
@matthewmwoody being consistent is tough so, remember that the Democrats had control since 2006. Obama voted for every "big ticketed" spending Bill in his short term as a US Senator.
arubberball 2 years ago
So you're saying that the Iraq war was the Democrats fault? That's funny! It doesn't matter what Congress does, the president can veto any bill that comes across his desk. But of course we know Bush had the lowest amount of vetoes of any modern president. If the Democrats are the party of big government, the Republicans are the party of bigger government. Both parties are to blame! So you Republicans or Democrats should know your history.
matthewmwoody 2 years ago
Thanks for throwing that fox news comment in there. I haven't been accused of actually watching television, much less Fox in almost a month. I guess it's a good thing I don't actually form my own opinions based on reality instead of reading biased newspapers, and watching biased news programs. It seems you really don't see your own sources spin, so there's not much of a point in explaining. I'll try. The source is comparing 8 years to 1. ...cont...
sedatedlife18 2 years ago
If you include things like cap and trade, Obamacare, etc. then economists project a possible defecit spending bill of 13.9 trillion by 2014.
sedatedlife18 2 years ago
So let me get this straight, President Bush didn't sign into law the tarp program? From The Michigan messenger and independent newspaper By Ed Brayton 12/12/08 2:38 PM
The Bush administration has reversed its position in the wake of the Senates failure to pass an auto bailout bill and is now willing to use money from the $700 billion TARP fund to help the Big Three automakers survive.
Wow, I hope you're not old enough vote, we already have enough idiots running the government.
matthewmwoody 2 years ago
Wow it's kind of sad how predictable you folks on the left really are. Almost as predictable as those on the right. I'm NOT defending the Bush administration. I'm also clearly NOT defending the Obama administration. Both had or have had many problems, and neither is barred from blame. You are simply defending something that shouldn't be defended and you deserve to be called out on it. Obama is NOT the president we needed, and we will likely pay for his election for a long time. (Economically)
sedatedlife18 2 years ago 3

sedatedlife18 2 years ago
Oh so when you asked me if I "lived under a rock"? You were trying to further the argument? And you can call me left winger if you want to( I voted for Texas republican Ron Paul in the primarys) . I'm not defending bush or Obama, I didn't vote for either! But I will point out to republicans the fact that they were in control of the government for six years and grew the government. You stated that the stimulas package was obama's, bush signed the tarp legislation. Know you're history!
matthewmwoody 2 years ago
I do remember when Bush signed TARP, but I also remember when Obama signed his own "Stimulus" bill, and when he signed "cash for clunkers" which failed miserably. I wish Paul got more support, and I was dissappointed when he dropped before the Texas primary because I didn't get to vote for him. I didn't vote in the previous election either, and I don't plan on voting until a candidate can prove that he's not the same as the minds running this country for the past 80 years.

Seventy-three percent say they disapprove of the way Mr. Bush has handled his job as president over the last eight years. When the job was done the American public said Bush sucked! Also was pres on 911?

Bigw3260 2 years ago
Wow, that's such a persuasive argument! Let me try it. Obama was born in Hawaii and is the legitimate president. What a great way to end a debate!
matthewmwoody 2 years ago
No I don't think putting a republican in office solely based on the principle that "he's not a democrat" is the answer. I think nothing will ever change until the american people realize that we've put the wrong people in power for nearly a century. I think the answer is a true conservative. One who believes in less government, less military spending, and less restrictions on private life. I think the people should be allowed to govern themselves to some extent.
sedatedlife18 2 years ago
You say you support "less restrictions on private life" and For people to "govern themselves". So you're against the drug war, against anti-abortion legislation, and support he freedom of gays to marry? That does not sound like a conservative to me!
matthewmwoody 2 years ago
Then you don't know what a true conservative is. Yes all of those things you just mentioned are hot button topics for me. I'm staunchly against the drug war that has cost our country billions of dollars, and years of strife yet to come. I'm also opposed to any regulations on the restrictions to choose abortion. I'm also for the "civil union" between two people of undefined sex. I'm a conservative in the truest form. I don't allow my values to govern other people.
sedatedlife18 2 years ago
I consider myself a true conservative because I vote for people who don't support the drug war, support a wmans right to chose, and don't think the government should be involved in marriage. Unfortunately the republican party puts McCain and Sarah stupid on their ticket and call themslves conservative. But as you mentioned you and I believe in true conservatism, but republicans don't stick to the principle of conservatism. Too bad.
matthewmwoody 2 years ago
It is too bad, and I don't believe in choosing the "lesser of two evils" either. Unfortunately we, as a country, will not make any true progress until we elect someone who will stand up for the people as the office of president was meant to. Obama is not that person, and neither would a republican be that person. If we need any kind of new regulations by the government it is on the election process. Corporate favoritism is far too prevalent in our election process.
sedatedlife18 2 years ago
It does not matter who you put in charge of the government, the way the system is set up, there will always be corruption. The problem is the government! It's time to shrink government down to doing only one thing, protecting the American from the government. But how can anyhing protect the same thing it opresses?
matthewmwoody 2 years ago
@matthewmwoody
The three things you stated are socially liberal values.
IDislikeTheWorld 1 year ago
@IDislikeTheWorld actually the root word of a liberal Is liberty. People should have the liberty to do drugs if they choose. Women should have the liberty to have an abortion. People should have the liberty to own guns. The word liberal has been redefined to mean a person who supports entitlement programs which has nothing to do with liberty. It's like the word socialism. Right wingers claim to hate socialists while supporting the world's biggest socialist program the US military.
matthewmwoody 1 year ago
@matthewmwoody
There are different types of liberalism just like there are different types of conservatism.
IDislikeTheWorld 1 year ago
@matthewmwoody First of all not all right wingers agree on everything. Second the military is one of the few original purposes a government had. Anyways, America is about liberty and should be as long as said liberty doesn't directly intrude on another's liberty/rights. That is why abortion is an issue. In the case of rape and physical ailments, it may make sense to kill an unborn baby, or the potential for one, however I believe most people had the liberty to choose to have sex.
Chris09hamann10 1 year ago
@matthewmwoody We have the liberty/right to choose however that doesn't excuse us from the consequenses. You did the action the creates life and is designed to, don't be surprised you have a baby on the way. Why shouldn't you have to have consequences for your choices?

A measurement date up to three months prior to the fiscal year end was permitted under SFAS 87. SFAS 158 eliminated the use of an early measurement date effective for years ending after December 15, 2008. This gives companies additional time after the new standards implementation to synchronize actuarial and financial reporting. Early adoption of this provision is encouraged.

Ken Lay's Prosecutor once worked for Joseph Nacchio until he faced his first Federal Judge. (joke)
The second Judge in so many words in a short briefing said: Show me the Money.
Nacchio now has over $50,000,000 Dollars hidden away.
I say stick it to them Nacchio!
(lol)
