I've owned many Canon models since 2002 and this model is THE best ever! Its the last generation before Canon introduced the tragic SmartAUTO feature which renders AUTO useless in low light and indoor photos. I have the new SD780is and it is the worst model I've owned (aside from nice HD video) - 1100is outperformed indoor, outdoor, sunset - beautiful shots; some even better quality than my Lumix ZS3.

Yeah, once you go past the 3.0x optical zoom, it begins zooming digitally. Otherwise, it begins to crop the photo.  I recommend staying away from the digital zoom unless absolutely necessary.

I think I am going to wait for the SD1200, coming out this month. Alot of colors to choose from. It has a DIGIC 4 instead of 3. It is $40 bucks more then the 1100 (depends on where you buy it) And it's 10 megapixles....I was close to buying this one until I saw the 1200, it's coming out this month (March)

I recommend you making the same choice if your interested in this camera.

This camera is great. If your not sure exactly what camera you want then really look into this one. You cant go wrong with the price and all the features and how easy it is to use compared to all the other complex cameras there are. Its almost as easy as point and shoot. I got the brown colored one and its great!

If you shoot with the FULL quality you will never be able to shoot an hour (you will shoot up to 4gb which would be equivalent to 30-35 mins)

However, you may shoot at the same size 640 x 480 but with LP (long play) that's how you should get one hour ;)

NB: the camera shoots up to 4gb OR 1 hour (whichever comes first)

-_- ...that's because you need to charge it. It's not fully charged before it's packaged-- same with cellphones, laptops, etc. Put it in the charger dock it comes with, plug it in and unplug it once the light changes from red to green on the dock. Its battery works fine for me.

Get the Canon, it is WAY better and has better features. Sure the nikon has 10 mp but this camera had do more shit.
