  • In ten years this is where everything is going to be, but its not there yet. We don't have internet everywhere first of all, which basically makes this computer useless. On top of that, none of our wireless internet connections are fast enough to incorporate even a small portion of the uses we have for computers.

  • The dumbest thing I have ever seen.

  • Why not just install Google Chrome on your laptop, or any other browser and only use that. Viruses, updates and reboots are not so much of an issue that I would spend $400 more only to do much less.

  • @b1acknovember Also, the internet is pretty much everywhere nowadays. there is no excuse on why you shouldn't have it available to use. You can always go to your local library or any store that provides free wifi.

  • but without the internet... it's JUST a computer-like object...?

  • 0:44

in a car? crashes are gonna rise...

you people keep criticizing, say that it's not a good idea but you don't realize that Google it's just making a step forward in the future, they are already selling something to the future you

  • @69TmTulio They're trying to control the future...

  • @b1acknovember You are being paranoid. Then again, I said the same thing about this chrome book a long time ago but now that I look at it again, is not that bad. Nowadays people use their laptops solely for the internet. The guy with the top comment is right, if you don't have internet access, is useless. BUT is isn't any other regular computer useless without internet. Yes, you can still check your movies, videos or photos on your regular laptop, but for how long can you do that.

  • so what about microsoft office programs and Itunes? who wants a computer that is just the internet?, a computer this good doesnt come at such low price

  • @syddiallo You can use Google docs for word, excel, powepoint etc.. and you use livestream instead of iTunes (like YouTube) and this is for those who uses the web the most, not those who saves pictures and video's on their PC's :P

  • Well the ad is good....

  • all your files in their hands. instead of your hands

  • so it DOES updates

  • see i got one and think about my laptop and what i can do more on the laptop can play games and web browse download movies and music but then i look at this and think well lets take the music the movies the web browsing and leave the laptop for the gaming. and i know now that its not the greatest thing but its a new OS and i think with time google will have it down.

  • To worse to ignore it!

  • Just another piece of shit designed for a niche market.

Although, I do have to give the ad points for saying "everything can be saved to the web" instead of the fucking "cloud".

  • this....is not for me. I don't use my computer just for the web.

And it'd suck in areas with bad network.

  • in reality it's far from a new thought.

  • I'm going to sue your company for suggesting me to use that thing in a car (0:43). I did that while driving and I accidentally ran over a group of mimes. Wait for my lawyers.

  • Love the ad :)

  • It does everything? How can I edit movies (without using the youtube editor)

  • If only this laptop was compatible with Steam and movie-editing software...

  • Did anyone else find this really difficult to understand?

  • Nice job copying Apple's simplicity, Gooshit.

  • No, it is actually not the web. It is shit, that is what it is.

  • @Applegjg love how you say you have a "leaked tablet" then you go on saying how apple copy rights simplicity, so this means your some kind of attention whore/apple fanboy

  • @SUPABOBMAN007 it is not for attention, it is to troll shit heads like you.

  • @Applegjg I can tell you are an Apple fan by the language you use!! other users appear far more educated.

  • @lillyput13 just shut the fuck up, okay?

  • I have a leaked Google Tab 10.6" video on my channel, beta.

  • I am proud of MacBook Air. MacBook Air HAS PROGRAMS, AND THE WEB, and it starts up in seconds. MacBook Air also is extremely thin, with a beautiful aluminum design. Fuck Google and its users!

  • dear santa

  • Guy: On a unicycle?

Chromebook: Uh..our lawyers aren't going to like that -_-"

    Me: lol

  • So is there any games?

Google: *quietly drags you to the river abyss*

  • @PunchKickCombo - yeah - but we all know Google have forgotten to account for the fact that the web can't taken around as easily electricity... and plenty of other limits of their web based tech!

  • Funny how the audio transcribing works on a GOOGLE video.

  • No, as it has 3G Internet.

  • So google can produce a revolutionary new device but still struggle to use capital letters and fail to use full stops (periods).

  • for me, id rather wait a few more seconds to use applications..

  • chromebook is basically your pc stuck on chrome, when it opens its chrome in fullscreen, you cant backout, no programs to open, you can only use the web

  • @Andylink007 you can open up terminal and do commands through that.

  • But can it run Crysis 2?

  • My Chromebook's too slow.

  • So, if I don't have Internet access... it's useless?

  • @WirelessHotShot Any computer is useless without the internet....

  • @WirelessHotShot Not really. Some of the web apps in the Chrome Web Store can be used offline.

  • @WirelessHotShot In Google's mind, condemning a device dependent on the internet is like condemning a device that uses electricity. I still don't think it's a good idea, though.

  • @WirelessHotShot it has 3G.... it's everywhere... unless..

  • @WirelessHotShot no, it has 3g i think.

  • @WirelessHotShot Chromebooks are usually sold with 4G plans or wifi plans, and they are for people who only need to get on the internet. Nowadays, local coffee shops and libraries offer free internet as well, so it's not like we're in the 90's buddy.

  • @WirelessHotShot not having internet access in 5 years will be like not having electricity 30 years ago. people asked "So, if i don't have electricity access... it's useless?"

  • @WirelessHotShot Exactly. You might just as well "Throw it in a river".

  • @WirelessHotShot Well there is a 3g option which should allow you to be connected in most places...but you're still right. If you happen to be without Wifi or 3g, then you own a $300+ paper weight.

  • @WirelessHotShot Get the 3G version. Getting the only Wi-Fi version is the most retarded thing you can do other than buying an iMac.

  • @WirelessHotShot Nope, you can use it as a doorstep, or a frisbee.

  • @googlechrome Is there an ARM version?

  • This is stupid :) - so no personal storage ? nAND NO OFFLINE USE ? since it is the internet you need internet connections : wifi etc , im sure many HILLS dont have internet nearby . 3G from phones suck

  • @Cobac There is Offline mode and offline apps for Chrome / Chrome OS.

  • @ChangeOurSociety I know that but besides those , you will still need more than that to amke me buy a 500$ web-surfing laptop

  • It's not meant to replace a fully blown laptop or desktop. It's a very watered down netbook with just a browser -- not really an OS to compete with Microsoft. It's aimed at people who are always on the move, needing just internet and reliability. If you wanted to use something like Word or Excel, you can use the online versions (on Google and Microsoft's website). But given the limited functionality of a Chromebook, Windows and local storage on our computers will be here to stay.

  • What happens if you use Microsoft Outlook for Exchange. How do you use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. What about Movie Maker. Or how about Paint.NET. Can you use iTunes.

  • @Mariopokemon77 All of those programs depend on an EXE file for installation and use. You can only run EXE files on Windows. Chromebooks do not use Windows. Microsoft Outlook won't work on a Chromebook. For Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, you can use Google Docs (which is online). Windows Movie Maker and Paint.NET would not work either. iTunes won't work because Apple only made it for Mac and PC. So my opinion is to stay with Windows (or whatever operating system you have).

  • no rolling hills of green!! the best part.. :)

  • Nice try bitches. But I'll rather have my stuff stored in a hard drive I can touch than store it online in the servers of some big corporation.

To the people who say this is the future: No it isn't. I'm sure there will be a lot of this stuff. But this will never substitute the normal storage of the devices. People will always want their devices to have the offline side.

  • nooo I WANT A FUCKING DESKTOP MY PC WIN 7 BOOTS IN 10 SECONDS BITCH

  • I not do not want a chromebook...

  • The Chromebook is the future. I know you cant install games or other applications, but in a few years, everything you can't do with the chrome book will be available on the web as it is getting faster and faster everyday.

  • The hipster coffee shop will be filled with em Im sure

  • So no rolling hills of green, hint, hint XP.

  • Hackers will find a way to infect chromebooks, one day…

  • wow.

AS IF A MAC WASNT BAD ENOUGH.

    THE CHROMEBOOK... DOES... NOTHING.

  • I can't wait for my Chromebook!

  • This shit is worst than Vista.

    YES, WORST!

  • @KatsuiNyaw hey bro learn how to spell and annunciate correctly since were in america. It's "worse" not worst.

and Plus Google has created a personal web cloud for all business users.

  • @zerolimitations1 Sorry, my bad english. Ok, let's see... "This is bullshit".

    Better?

  • @KatsuiNyaw NO it ain't!

  • But What If you're not connected to the Internet do you have to pay up the ass for 3G or something???

  • @JGamer12

Friend, always through the history internet charges were following the use.

Remember how much did you pay for your only 56kbps internet and how much do you pay for your internet now...

So, If more things on internet, less cost for 3g's in some years

    :)

  • its kinda bullshit

  • might as well just buy a tablet

  • now let's see a chromebook that can run photoshop, imovie, logic pro, and crysis in a couple different tabs in your web browser....

  • @wildcardelectro Yeah, because any netbook or macbook or tablet can do that ...

  • I want one sooo bad

  • But a computer computes. If it's not a computer, then it's not computing....like a webpage. I'm confuzled.

  • GOD DIGGITY I WANT ONE NOW

  • buuuurp

  • but... can you download tunes on your ipod with it?

  • So you're paying $4/500 for a web browser you can get on a computer for the same price?

  • @Mematman15 Do you have any idea about cloud computing? Did you get the advantages of it? Obviously it's not for you, if what you only do is to play games, chat, and scratch your b**** all day! Fast and everything on the cloud, don't put your stupid comments if you don't have a clue and can't understand what is it good for! As I said, defenatelly NOT for you! Nice day!

  • @vergilBG I know all about what you just said. The only things the Chromebook has over Chrome on a normal computer are faster bootup, no viruses, and there's a 3G version.

  • Chromebooks are essentially everything a netbook should be.

  • Aliens stole my Chromebook :(

But my Google phone now runs ChromeOS :3

    Thank you aliens

  • SLOW

  • is there some kindof thing that will connect you to a serain GOOGLE internet provider you'll become tht commercial F*gs you screw pc's you even screwd youtube at google i mean look at this discusting desing

  • @Acreedsbattlefield hey what the fuck is this comment?

  • Not until they fix the bugs on google docs.

  • Yes it is a fucking laptop, it is a fucking computer, gtfo with this macfag advertisement baby music bullshit

  • What if i'm seeing this video on youtube that is part of google, on google chrome, on a chromebook, in a google office? GOOGLECEPTION

  • This...commercial....rocks, haha.

  • One thing... how do i add Music to Google Music, without a program ???

That doesn't seem to make sense if I cant ...

  • @orangecounty24 I think they want you to buy music on Google Market.

  • DONT FUCKING THROW IT IN A RIVER

  • ok so a chrome book is the web? like the google chrome browser you can download on your regular pc.....so the chrom book os is the google chrome browser?

  • Oddly enough, Chrome crashed when watching the video. You can see the screenshot here: screencast dt com /t /NN2urAx9W.

  • @mellkiades Oddly enough, SHIT HAPPENS. It's called a coincidence.

  • Should I stream my 2 petabytes music collection off the net each time I want to listen something? Nahh. Cool for the other stuff though.

  • This is like paying $500 for a web browser O.o

  • @CawubTV No, it's paying as low as around 200 dollars for data liberation :P

  • Awesome, now we can be even more susceptible to hackers by allowing this machine to uploading every move we make and every file we save!! SWEET

  • You should add web-apps feature then, Google. This way people can still use photoshop and stuff. And use Word. etc. etc.

  • Was this video edited with a chromebook?

  • @rchassereau Good point! Highly doubt it was, Guess we now know why they added video editing features to YouTube, This sound no different to me then Ubuntu which not to many people use or like.

  • @carlosdajoke Advanced tasks such as video rendering, programming, and gaming are not tasks which a Chromebook should be expected to perform.

Chromebooks are designed for casual users; users who turn their computer on generally speaking to use the web, and sometimes to use document processing software. All this can be done on the web, so why not build a simple interface for these users which uses little performance, boots up fast and has long battery life?

  • @rchassereau chromebooks are only meant for going online! not for editing videos etc!

  • @MrLee353 I realize this, I was just making a point.

  • @rchassereau but that's like saying strawberry ice cream doesn't take like vanilla. Both are completely different things intended for different uses.

  • @MrLee353 Please let's not do this. Your analogy is horrible. Almost every recipe calls for some amount of vanilla extract. Besides I was just making a point about the limiting factor of just having the web. If it could boot an OS from USB then that's a whole different ball game. I imagine that it may be able to do this, which would satisfy both of our needs.

  • Swing and a miss, Google. Was "Nothing but 'Net" already trademarked?

  • so no photoshop...?

  • @fastonover9000 deviantart?

  • @fastonover9000 you can use devainart. or sketchpad. and it's free

  • Storing everything on the internet is one thing. Having HTML-5 as your app platform is another.

  • EVERYBODY! :D you can get web apps! so you can play games and use photoshop etc..

  • it looks awesome.

  • It is basically a google chrome...without windows.

  • It is basically a google chrome...without windows.

  • it sucks. Google you will never learn what is a real user experience concept

  • but will it blend?

  • how the hell do i play games like battlefield 3 when i m on a train ???

    do u have a ANSWER ?!?!?!

  • no internet access = dead computer ?

  • @gskishan004 3G!!!!!!!

  • and whats the use of? if you want to surf on internet, you can use a computer or smart phone or tablet..

  • @zozzthenightmare it's only 2000 hkd, which is around 250usd

  • ANSWER THE RIVER QUESTION

  • river sound good to me

  • the real question is can it watch Rebecca Black?

  • yes it is weird

  • i dont wanna buy a fucking spider web

  • this is cool and all, but if theres no porgrams wat if i want flash or photoshop?

  • Can't keep up with all the tech stuff. My generation learned to use a typewriter!

  • great, another way for google to monitor our activity. and yet im strangely attracted to it... 0.0

  • @coulditellyouso thats the google plan, they know that you know they can monitor you, yet they use that to make u want to get it in some sort of way

  • SketchUp?

  • me: so how do i play crysis 2 and have any sort of privacy at all.

    Google: uuuuuuuh.......?

  • why not just download chrome onto a pc? you can still do everything and more like, say, play skyrim!

  • only google could make me like a commercial..

  • What about mah video games?

  • This all sounds good, but what about privacy. This is basically saying, ok, everything you do have is now accessable to google. And google (not to start conspiring here ) can give this data to someone/thing

  • @NerdyBashir2K12 It's not in Google's best interest to pass on your information to 3rd parties because they want to keep you as a customer. Instead they attempt to bring the 3rd parties to you with targeted advertising.

  • Wait wait wait, I can't download games such as Project Blackout, Minecraft? FUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • Amazing editing

  • Hills of green? that's Windows XP YOU CHEATER.

  • What I'm writing know is also a new thought

  • can u still use microsoft word on this?

  • @juggernaught171 Only online.

  • I don't see a plus on this. Problem is that I don't have internet anywhere so this thing is useless.

  • @ronaldjdevries You can get a chromebook with 3G - so you have internet access with a plan (or the "free" plan).

  • @evoluciona That wil make it really slow. I'm very happy with my notebook. It looks better, I can do everything that you can do with the Chromebook, I can save private stuff, i don have to be connected, I'm not depending on Google, I'm not saving everything under 1 password, I can play better games, I can install a other OS if I want, I can use it when I travel outside the country and not have to pay big time to reach my stuff... Do I have to go on? Nope it is useless

  • @ronaldjdevries I'm starting to agree. A Windows 7 computer might be a pleasant switch from Google Docs. I just need a _nice_ and _powerful_ computer to sate my desires.

  • @evoluciona Yeah, but a 100 MB per month isn't much. Then again, for someone without the Internet otherwise, 100 MB might be plenty for Gmail and Google Docs.

  • can i play skyrim on this?

  • question. how do i play Halo, edit music, and have any privacy at all when everything is cloud based?

  • @TheMsdos25 Your comparing it to a computer. It's not a computer, or at least its not meant to replace the one you already have... but you can actually edit music on it and play any game if a developer decides to port it to a web based application.

  • Does it play skyrim? Or even assault cube?

  • @Bobubobme nope sorry

  • @Bobubobme it is based on linux, so technically speaking, it can play assault cube :-)

  • @aakash602 So it's not a completely new OS. It's is built on Linux?

  • Can I install Windows on this?

  • @sergiomcfly Yep

  • lol at 1:05
