  • well - s-pva panels are not fast but if you compare the saturation of both displays....well...

  • where can you still get this thing. i am really missing the s-pva panel after having bought the t240hd.

  • tft is new tech so don't depend on tft that much

  • I got a 215 TW aswell, and i just use it as an offscreen now. The inputlag is not something i can live with as a main monitor for gaming.

    Useless.

  • Hi guys and gals. I bought my SyncMaster 215TW about a year ago and it has shocking input lag. It was my first ever LCD for home, although I'd used a Dell at work. It killed my gaming - I noticed the input lag staight away. I searched online and I could find nothing on lag. I'm glad there's an explosion of info out there now. I might see if the store will return it, or else give it to my mum who probably won't notice.

  • i just bought this monitor. i have no lag issues, im coming from a CRT too. i did this test vs. a CRT and i get no lag issues unless i move the mouse violetnly across the screen, i get a little bit. sorry for your bad luck. i have been informed by some people that Samsung ackolowdges the problem and its sample variation and they will exchange the monitors for one with much less lag. you can try that.

  • also for those of you saying its because of the clone display always lags. i did a stopwatch-photo test with 2 CRTs, (CRT = always zero lag) and i got the same time always to the .001 second was exactly the same.

  • Hi! Yeah.. this was a year ago. Im sure Samsung knows about it now. But the problem is that they did'nt when they released it. That's a huge miss. =) I still have a Samsung display... but i just wanted to make sure people knew about that 215TW.

And i just wanted to point out that this is a TFT Vs. TFT test. And NOT crt vs tft. So this lag difference should actually be very close to zero.

  • Price and image quality wise this monitor would be perfect for me if it wasn't for this damn lag.

  • use the right tool for the right application

    pva for photoshopping

    tn for fpsing

or just go pick up an crt ur neighbour left in the dumster thats pro'ly better anyhooz

  • i mean a crt hehe

    laterz

    good demo though!

  • lol, I would love to be able to have the perfect tool for every application (which would be a big old crt if mobility wasn't an issue).

  • Yeah, if you're a hardcore gamer this monitor isn't for you. But its a S-PVA panel, image quality (for photoshop use or DVD) is kickass. TN film is faster for games but image is crap.

  • This is well known and well documented, check hardforum for further threads. This is not a videocard issue. Two CRT produce perfect results. The LCD is at fault.

  • It's not just the LCD. Tests have proven that three components have an effect on the delay chain. The other two components that are factually tested to have a big part in the delay are the settings of your videocard and the mouse that's used. If you want to decrease that delay, get your videocard straight and get something like a Razr mouse.

The LCD is only part of the problem here, because you can drastically get rid of the delay by setting up a correct videocard + mouse.

  • This has nothing to do with either my Mouse, My Videocard or any other component in my computer. Ive testet 4 screens that i got from Samsung. I've tested them on 5 different computers and even on a Xbox. The fault is not on any other hardware than the screen.

This is a known problem and it's called INPUT DELAY. I returned the 215TW and bought a 225BW instead. Which does not share the same faults as the 215TW.

  • The primary display IS the 215 on the screen. the other display is a BenQ with the same respons time (that actually has nothing to do with it, just saying) as the 215TW (8ms). The graficcard is a Geforce 7800GTX that has enough power to go around. In the fact that I am CLONING the output to both screens it has to be the same resolution.

There is no other thing other than that the 215TW has INPUTLAG and should be avoided if you can not live with it.

  • And just for your information, I AM using a RAZER mouse in This test! (Razer copperhead Lasermouse 2000Dpi)

    End of story =)

  • A lot of questions can be asked here. Which one is the primary display? Identical resolution? Color depth?

But anyways, this is most likely a videocard problem. Ghosting that has to do with the reactionspeed is something different than the type of lag that is shown here.

  • not a video card problem. This well documented. Two CRT's produce perfect results.

  • Hmm i was suppised when i saw this movie.

For almost 2 weeks i have got the 215tw, and i tested it with some friends in the same way, no lag or any other problems where seen.

  • The 21" from Samsung. hehe.. Look it up. How should i describe it?? =P

  • Which one is the 215TW?:)

  • samsung is better

  • That's not the point einstein.

The point is, No one should buy the 215TW because of the Input Delay.
