Melrose Place was one of the greatest tv shows of the 90's - much better than overrated Beverly Hills 90210! Alison (Courtney Thorne-Smith) and Jake (Grant Show) were my 2 favorite characters from start to finish. I still can't believe they didn't get together.
Sydney (Laura Leighton) deserved much better ending - such a cuttie character.
Brilliant Michael (Thomas Calabro) should have been with Megan (Kelly Rutherford)
Ryan (John Newton) should have been with Lexi (Jamie Luner) - hot couple
@Bringmyfamilyback 1980s-1990s shows you gotta love them now ad days they bring out stupid shows now and movies from the 80/90s were better aswell lol
Everytime I see the opening credits of shows like Melrose Place, Beverly HIlls 90210, Dallas, Dynasty etc I get chills. Those them songs and opening credits are still classic today.
It's so sad that TV doesn't allow for longer credit openings anymore. Part of the charm in watching your favorite tv show was to see the actors and actresses in the opening credits. Most shows in the 80s and 90s were good at doing this. It really made you attached to the show more. Some of the themes were also really memorable.
@j941234567 But the thing is that it does. You used to get a solid hour on television, shows would last the full 60 minutes or the full 30 minutes, maybe five minutes give or take. Now they basically last fifteen minutes less than they did. Why? So Networks can put at least fifteen minutes of Ads in. If they cut ad breaks down to two or three minutes then they could probaby fit in these longer, elaborate openings.
@j941234567 People don't have the attention span anymore for long intros. It's sad. Part of a show's charm was the theme song, being able to recognize it when it started and watching the actors in it and learn their names. + there were many nice themes, classics, like X Files or MacGyver :) Those were the good TV days!
I don't believe, at the moment, that Daphne Zuringa was on MP! She plays Brooke's Mother on OTH and she is so bad! In MP she was my favourite charcter after Sydney obviously!
ha ha ha, oh they were all so chummy and happy with one another! damn micheal and his affair and amanda being a slut! did make it more interesting though!
The show was completely different (and completely boring) in it's first season. It almost got cancelled but got reworked for the second season. That's when things...and people...started getting crazy. What's scary for me is watching this opening sequence and realizing all these people suddenly look young to me! As a kid they seemed so much older.
It was boring for the first half of the first season - and then, they brought Heather Locklear in as Amanda. Life got real interesting after that, especially once Michael became the bad boy, Sidney and Kimberly showed up, and Allison tried to be interesting - but always got bitch-slapped over into the corner (along with dumb Jane) by Amanda. Melrose Place - a true 'guilty pleasure', and any real MP fan remembers this line: 'Wait - it's not what you think! It's WORSE.'
@cathedral107 I started watching this show because I love Beverly Hills, 90210. It was hard to get into at first, but I'm glad I kept on watching because you're right. Once Heather Locklear became part of the show and then Michael started cheating on Jane, it started to get really good. I found myself watching two, three, sometimes four episodes in a row.
I love to watch Melrose Place. My favorite Actor is Jake played by Grant Show. My favorite Actress is Amanda played by Heather Locklear. Thank you for posting this! Magnificent!
1:42, that's a long opening. nowadays the shows either have no opening or a very short one of 15 seconds. The best are those from here of the past. 5 stars.
It's a shame. I kinda like opening. It's not like they'd make the show 1.42 longer because there is no opening included, that time will be spend on commercials
Agreed. I loved the old days of good theme songs. Melrose was one of the best!
