  • wonderful !!!

  • Amazing.

  • What album is the off? I have both Irfans albums and isn't on any.

  • Breathtakingly beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

  • I've searched, but if someone know please help... In what language is she singing?, Does she know arab?, do they screate songs with a Middle East touch?, I found it wonderful but OI just don't get it...

    GOD, WHAT A VOICE!!!!...

  • @tonytrailer

    She sings in Bulgarian.

  • @windv they are bulgarians but a girl who work with me, who is bulgarian, told me it wasn´t...now, i don´t know!

  • @tonytrailer It's a Bulgarian folklore song. You may also find interesting the version that the Philip Koutev choir has, at least I find the other one better sung than this one.

  • Haunting and alluring. Intriguing and captivating. I not only liked it. I loved it.

  • Красота българска !

  • i was deflected by the lil child on 0:10, sorry... uhm... yeah the song is beautiful!

  • @7saiten

its a traditional bulgarian folk song.

it's original name is: Altan Mara ( Golden Mara )

  • can you say, who is the first or original componist/artist of Mari Maro? I like this song and Irfan too

  • What is the vocalist's name?

  • They've had two singers. I believe this one is their second, Vladislava Vasileva. (Their first was Denitza Seraphimova).

That's what Wikipedia tells me, anyway ;-)

  • thanks for replying, cheers!

  • @wglmb Denitza is still their vocalist. Vladislava (on this video) joined them only for a short period of time.

  • @Panzerunfall thanks for the info... I really don't know much about them!

  • @Panzerunfall Well, unfortunately not anymore. They have separated with her again and now have a third singer.

The singer on the video is Vladislava.

  • @guerrillacap

    Vladislava Todorova

  • Wonderful

  • Bulgarian folklore music has been around for far long than Lisa Gerrard. Have that in mind.

  • I am a year into being a huge irfan fan now.. i apologize for the intensity with which i came at her for ripping of.. (the beginning of these comments..) though i still feel it sounds all too similar.. Lisa gerrard is the most earth shattering voice on the earth... and to dare imitate her is beyond bold.. but i say this with great respect.. Irfan.. is a GREAT band. truly. this song is beautiful..

but come on. Toward the within version of yulungs DESTROYS!!!!! it.

  • @neveliasjamestyler You miss the point, man. It was Lisa Gerrard in the first place who started imitating, or let's say reproducing! This song and the way they sing it is much older!

  • Amazing song! Pitty, that Irfan did not included it to any of their albums..

  • Very Nice!! Thanx for uploading

  • Wouah!! Hypnotisant,magique!!

  • Beautiful. Can someone translate, even just a little, of what she is singing?

  • Funny, why I couldn't hear the "sexual element" there...

  • The lyrics here are slightly different from the lyrics of the original folk song, but the meaning is basically the same (note that this is an amateur translation of a rather archaic text):

    "Blackened Mara, blackened, little Mara,

get up, blackened Mara, open the door for us,

    we've came, Mara,

    to ask your hand.

Blackened, little Mara opened the door.

    They weren't, blackened, matchmakers.

    They were, Mara, Ottomans.

    Blackened Mara..."

  • strahotna pesen! great song! canzone stupenda!

  • a beautiful bulgarian folk song and a magical Vladislava's voice makes this an enchanting experience.Love Irfan !!!

    thank you for posting!

  • Simply magical <333

  • This is a beautiful bulgarian folk song I first heard at a concert of Stellamara's. They also re-arrange it and make it more contemporary. Both bands do a great job with it. I went out and bought the original version after hearing it for the first time. It gives me shivers!

  • Beautiful song. I have 2 of their CDs but don't have this particular song. I love it! Very exotic, very hauntingly beautiful. Do they have a CD with this song? I love their music. It takes you to exotic places and beyond - to other worlds. She has a fantastic voice and the instrumentals are great.

  • Great stuff ... as a DCD, Vas, Stellarama, and Rasa fan, this fits right in.

  • I've seen them @Mera Lua 08. Amazing Band. I had two buy 2 CD's of them.

    I like the sound

  • You gotta love this voice!

  • I love this band. Irfan is amazing!

  • But it is worth to get to know Irfan better. Look them up on Myspace or the prikosnovenie website. It's an amazing band with - obviously dead can dance influences - but there is a lot of real slavic folk in it too, something that, even though DCD can use it, it's not really their roots.

  • the secret is.

lisa gerrard not only comes from a melting pot of nationalities.

she has also been all of these nationalities from different parts of the worl in her past lives.

that is indeed how she channels the ethnic energy so brilliantly and perfectly/genuinely.

she IS all of the nationalities.

    because she is an ancient

    one of the most ancient.

    love/

  • ok. i don't think i can really reply to that...

  • the real secret is which box your from. Complete fake. its called being a student of your craft. Yes Gerrand(she is a brit by birth) spent time in Spain, and yes the singer of Ifran comes from a mutli ethnic background. But what you say is total disrespect to them as artist, students, and musicians. Think about it

  • ok there are differences.. and i am sorry for mildly insulting her.. she is definately talented..

the drum BEAT IS almost the same though.

whatever.. sorry... i just get annoyed when people rip others off..

beautiful song just the same.. thank you for posting.

    ; ) ..

  • well done, thanks!

  • this seems to be a Bulgarian folk song, and cannot be covering someone who might be possessing an english, or of whatever other Western nationality, name

  • This was dicussed 4 months ago but.. Indeed, this is a Bulgarian folklore song. Here it is: 3NPkhIlE7NU
