Just cause they're pro doesn't mean this is as good as it gets, pros play gay and fidgety they do it so much that they lose on overthinking shit, same with tekken it' just depends on how YOU play

This game is such a fun button masher. I hate bad button mashers. This is one of the few examples of one that's a good time. That's what I always loved about the SC series.
Whenever I need a break from hardcore, competitive fighting, I look to this. Great for parties too.
@SeeDzNutts Button mashing sure gets you farther in this game than it does with, for example, sf. But that doesn't mean the game doesn't have a competitive side. Sure you can pick Kilik or Maxi and hope to win, just like you can pick Eddy in Tekken, but you should know by now that it is not going to get you far.

Exactly, these guys don't play a hyper style of game.you only play offensivly all the time online because no one can do anything about it. If you try to come in to a match with more offense than defense against a careful player, you WILL get destroyed. It's not like umvc3 or ssf4 where you can be offensive and be safe with it 15% of the time.
All i can say is im dissappointed and its starting to look like a tacky kids cartoon game. No new ideas invested into this game... i wish the player could interact with the area around him to fight and i wish instead of floating piece of land or a room that it would be connected to the ground and more space to run around and fight... .oh well.. Back to dark souls multiplayer pvp....

Never been a fan of the newer system like the soul gauge, now with all this EX shit it has too much of a street fighter feel to it. Still gonna play the shit out of it.
I don't really like the direction Soul Calibur is taking, with the special gauges and super moves. But, I'll have to wait till I get the game to form a solid opinion on it.
@ShadKats That's exactly how I feel. Whole reason I liked sc was because I could do moves whenever and however I wanted to....now it looks like I'll have to build up bars. Oh well, hopefully it's still fun regardless.
@Crimson121 you can still do moves whenever you want to. The bars are just for stronger versions of the same move. For actually rewarding the playing for landing hits instead of just spamming the strongest attack.
but so far,I've only seen Viola losing her cloak,but it seems more like the equipment destruction of custom characters in SCIV,where it rips off entirely instead of just being shredded like the main character's clothes

It would be a real treat if this SC had the same engine as SCII which was by far the best one!! There were so many different moves to master that you could turn your character into a killing mahcine!I beat the shit out of some of the very best players with Cassandra in my day!
I hope they make this game more in the same vein as SC3. SC4 looked good but completely lacked substanced if placed up against 3 or even 2. I hope this wont be a let down
@ZooBuddyDoo its likely this game will be as deep if not, deeper than sc3. since there is an entirely new story with new characters and such, they'd be crazy not to establish their new additions with something. they have to explain everything that went on from scIV to this game, plus whats happening now. so I'm not worried that this game is a step in a good direction :D so no worries haha!

My only concern so far is the way the moves link, a lot of the characters moves seem to be more abrupt and don't link in with eachother smoothly (i.e flowing from stance to stance) I think this was something that was a strong point for soul calibur 2, but they seemed to move away from it - God know why
This looks imbalanced. Astaroth hits so hard and look at the throw at 5:15 from SC2 that was the hardest hitting thing in that game 2nd only to ivy's other throw in whip form and it does like half of a normal attack of astaroths now. I understand skill goes a long way but it really looked like the scales were tipped against ivy from the start.
I just don't understand to things about this game.
1. Why no PC support?
2. this game's graphics look terrible, uninspiring and since there was no PC development, why does it look so drab.(there's cheap graphical technology out there that looks better than this graphic engine. you can't blame the Wii for this)

That Astaroth player got remarkably better from round 1 to round 3... Round 3 had nice linkage of moves and a great insert at the end of the match. I can't wait to play this, as an Astaroth/Rock main...
I actually know tournament players that play online against other top players and are really good, so then I asked them what do they use, and most of them said pad, I that suprised me that's for sure. But that's beside the point.
since sf was originally an arcade game that's why most people use a stick because they are accustomed to it already but you really don't need 1. That's like saying you'll get be a master at sf just by switching from pad to fight stick.
Ok you really need to pay more attention. I didn't say you needed a fight stick to play soul calibur, I said you'd be suprised how many people use it for soul calibur, and second of all I said soul calibur NOT street fighter, Obviously not many high level tournament players use a pad for ssf4, and no, links and fadcs can be done on a controller and stick,
Bottom line, both genders are both good. just depends on the game you're playing. just in my experience, I tend to pick a female character as a main over a male except Akuma from sf. I have Lili from Tekken, Setsuka from Soul Calibur, and Kitana from Mortal Kombat. Just something about a sexy woman who can kick ass...

My only concern so far is the way the moves link, a lot of the characters moves seem to be more abrupt and don't link in with eachother smoothly (i.e flowing from stance to stance) I think this was something that was a strong point for soul calibur 2, but they seemed to move away from it - God know why

This looks imbalanced. Astaroth hits so hard and look at the throw at 5:15 from SC2 that was the hardest hitting thing in that game 2nd only to ivy's other throw in whip form and it does like half of a normal attack of astaroths now. I understand skill goes a long way but it really looked like the scales were tipped against ivy from the start.

I just don't understand to things about this game.
1. Why no PC support?
2. this game's graphics look terrible, uninspiring and since there was no PC development, why does it look so drab.(there's cheap graphical technology out there that looks better than this graphic engine. you can't blame the Wii for this)

That Astaroth player got remarkably better from round 1 to round 3... Round 3 had nice linkage of moves and a great insert at the end of the match. I can't wait to play this, as an Astaroth/Rock main...

I actually know tournament players that play online against other top players and are really good, so then I asked them what do they use, and most of them said pad, I that suprised me that's for sure. But that's beside the point.

since sf was originally an arcade game that's why most people use a stick because they are accustomed to it already but you really don't need 1. That's like saying you'll get be a master at sf just by switching from pad to fight stick.

I didn't say you needed a fight stick to play soul calibur, I said you'd be suprised how many people use it for soul calibur, and second of all I said soul calibur NOT street fighter, Obviously not many high level tournament players use a pad for ssf4, and no, links and fadcs can be done on a controller and stick,

Bottom line, both genders are both good. just depends on the game you're playing. just in my experience, I tend to pick a female character as a main over a male except Akuma from sf. I have Lili from Tekken, Setsuka from Soul Calibur, and Kitana from Mortal Kombat. Just something about a sexy woman who can kick ass...

I really hope you ain't talking to me, I never had a problem with using females in games at all. But I was just talking about what that other dude said about females being faster than males and I was basically saying it wasn't true. And that I did notice people picking them for the soul purpose of mashing because of their 'speed' to win. And all I said was it's very unprofessional and noobish.
