  • i was curious if u might have an original copy of under a blanket of blue by glen grays band from 1934 i believe it was on the blue and gold label with the decca logo in kind of an art deco print!! if so could u please post it thxs

  • This version cooks. I've been a Glen Gray fan for a long time but this is a first for me. Thanks for this gem.

  • @bvwatcher

Thanks! I'm glad to have a new/old song for you to enjoy. I'm a big Glen Gray fan too.

  • Makes one wanna 'cut-a-rug!'

    ...Thanks pal! :0)

  • @oldedrum

Thank you! I'm certainly glad you like it. :-)

  • Anytime, 'althazarr'. This, of course, is a somewhat different arrangement than the 1935 Casa Loma transcription...

  • My pleasure, 'althazarr'. This is a different arrangment from the one Glen recorded for that radio transcription service in 1935 [that was a "sweeter", more formal version]- here, it's more "swinging" and has a "loose" feel to it...

  • I enjoy this version very much!!...I like all of Glen Grey's songs that I have heard to date...Thank you for the great posting!!

  • Recorded on July 2, 1937 (featuring a Gene Gifford arrangement), and originally released on Decca 15035.

  • @fromthesidelines

Thank you for the original date!

  • Great 78 by a great classic, big band artist!!...thank you for posting this...

  • @lrh1966

Thank you Lloyd! This one is a bit different

from the one you posted. I really enjoyed

    the instrumental version you have.

  • @althazarr

Thank you also Lloyd!, I did not realize we have the same name! The name Lloyd is actually not very common in my area of Minnesota!

I hope to find more items from Glen Gray in the days ahead with all the outdoor sales that are popular here in the summer..

  • Jumpin'! Thanks!

  • @rylandheights

Thanks Mark! Don't jump too much, it might

    interfere with your workout. :-)

  • I am a huge fan of Glen Gray and CLO. This is wonderful!

  • @sideshowtink

Thank you Tink! I thought you might like this

one. I was going to post some more Irish

songs, but it seemed like they didn't go over

    very well.

  • Lovely song with a wonderful title!!

  • @CrisVangel

Thank you Cris! It certainly seems appropriate

    for my friends :-)

  • @videostunad

Thank you Sal! I love Glen Gray too. He was definitely the king of swing. :-)

  • The firstversion I ever heardof this, Was by Red Nickols & his Five Pennies! I have it on a Brunswick. This is a FANTASTIC version as well. Thank You So Much For Sharing.

  • @roybo1930

Thank you Bobby! I would love to hear that

Brunswick sometime. Didn't you say you

were going to start posting your fantastic

collection? I've really been wanting to hear some

of those great tunes you have.

  • I remember hearing a Judy Garland version of this before.. but i've never heard any other version. Very interesting!! It's peppy, jazzy and great!! Thanks!!

  • @Mr1920s

Yes, Judy Garland does a great version of this.

I'm glad you like Glen Gray's version. He always

puts a little pep into things.

  • Dig it!

What a Friday cut - great timing, Lloyd. :)

  • @SwingMan1937

Thanks Mark! I thought you might dig this one. :-) Happy Friday! Stan Kenton is on the flip which I'll post a bit later today.
